This is a problematic E.P. even the Vinnie (the singer) has admited that this was a bit too half baked. It is as pop punk as the Movielife will ever get and as simplistically sturctured as the Movielife would dare even get. I read (I'm so musically astute) that this was done sort as a spur of the moment E.P. before they went touring and you can tell, it's very rushed and seems as if there wasn't a whole lot of writing that went into this. But Drive Thru has to have an E.P. from EVERY band it signs before they release a full length which is something that I find to be very annoying. If you bought this and think that the Movielife sucks than you need to buy This Time Next Year becuase this is perhaps the worst album they ever put out.
Great EP........2004-07-01
This is definetly a very good EP. Every one of the 5 tracks is amazingly good with each craft unique. Heres a rundown:
1. 'Walking On Glass' - One of my favorite all time Movielife tracks. Fast paced through out and really catchy. And great lyrics too. Totally love it.
2. 'Hand Grenade' - This is another awesome track. The chorus will leave you singing. A really like the bridge and the guitar solo towards the begining is a killer.
3. 'Up To Me' - Tough probably my least favorite, still a very catchy, solid and amazing lyrics. See a pattern?
4. 'If Only Duct Tape Could Fix Everything' - I absolutly love this song's chorus. Just like the rest, solid and catchy.
5. 'Operate' - I really love this song alot. It's the slowest on the EP and a great ender to this great EP. Great lyrics.
Overall, i totally dig this EP and most people will do so too. I think out of the 5 tracks, people will like at least 4 of them. Movielife are an awesome band, and it sucks that they broke up. They put on quite a live show too.
Die-hard movielife fans look away now!.......2003-11-06
Okay so this EP is different to 'This time next year' which you may have loved. SO WHAT! Don't expect bands to stay the same forever. This is the first thing I heard from the movielife so my opinion is less biased...This CD rocks!! Don't fork out lots of cash for it coz its only 5 tracks long, but if its cheap then buy it. 'Hand Grenade' 'Walking on glass' and 'Up to me' are all better than anything on the other 2 albums (from a rock fan's point of view). I've been to 3 movielife gigs this year and 'Hand Grenade' and 'walking on glass' have been the best received songs of the set every time! So what if the lyrics lack true meaning and emotion...sometimes people just wanna bounce.
One of the Greatest EP's I've Ever Heard.......2002-10-03
The Movielife is one of my all time favorite bands, and have never ceased to amaze me. Their EP on Drive-Thru is with out a doubt the best EP's I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Incredible guitar riffs paired with emotional, catchy lyrics ultimatly land the Movielife a permanent place in my CD binder. For only 5 songs and 7 dollars, the Movielife will not dissapoint you if you like any of the other bands on Drive-Thru Records.
