For me everything comes out from The Style Council is a gem,i listen to them continously for the last 15 years.

This is an enjoyable record, however, for me, I keep skipping over a couple of songs that just don't make it (semi-rap numbers)......in fact these particular numbers seem out of place on an otherwise great set of tunes.

Headstart for some great music!.......2007-01-02

This album is a masterpiece. It's too bad Weller rarely plays any TSC classics in his solo concerts ("Long Hot Summer" is the great exception). If you catch him on a good night for TSC fans, you will be lucky to hear "Headstart for Happiness" live (he played it in Milan a few years ago). In my opinion, it is one of the best tunes on Cafe Bleu --what energy, what kick!-- and it has hardly been mentioned here. Buy this together with Our Favorite Shop, another timeless work, and head to Paris once again, "Down in the Seine."

Paul Weller...Music for the Soul.......2006-12-18

It was the 1980's when I moved into my first apartment and I filled my home with the best music like Nick Lowe, The Pretenders, The Jam, etc. The Jam...what an authentic great sound! I just couldn't get enough of it. I was absolutely mesmerized when Paul Weller (Of the Jam) and The Style Council played "Ever Changing Moods". Was the entire world hearing this incredible music? The whole album was remarkable! Each song completely unique and captured a certain aura, a presence that filled the air with intense deep feeling. The album is captivating, inspirational, relaxing, bitter sweet and uplifting, danceable, deeply honest and intelligent, romantic, spiritual and has every sound and era in it! Yes, at one point you'll find yourself sitting in a cafe in France in the 1960's. I was in love and told everyone I knew to listen to the complete album of the Style Council and they were mesmerized too! Your life is the music you listen to! I played this album till my turn-table broke in the 90's. Now thinking of a perfect gift for my friend in 2006...Wow...what could be better than a gift of Cafe Bleu for starters! More than recommended for those who love Great Music and want to feel something more!

EBTG: A Style Council Protegé?.......2005-05-20

I decided to come to Amazon.com tonight to look up a group whose music I came in contact with some years back & that I have in my collection (my fav is Confessions of a Pop Group), but no stores sell them & not too many people seemed to have even heard of them. When I typed in their name, I was surprized to see so many album titles! So, I was just listening to the samples on this Café Bleu album, and lo & behold, when I listen to Paris Match, I am CERTAIN the voice belongs to Tracey Thorn! I skimmed through the other reviews, looking for some mention of her, or her & Ben Watt, or EBTG, but nothing! They are, by the way, another of my favs. Long story short, I'd recognize that voice anywhere -- it's one I've come to know & love! So, after dropping each of these fabulous finds into my shopping cart, I'll type in EBTG to view their collection (at least, unlike with the Style Council, I have more than two of their lps!)
