CINEMA is a current band playing Progressive rock, continuing the tradition of the famous Japanese School (OUTER LIMITS, PAGEANT, VERMILION SANDS...). No reason to be surprised, when one knows that two of its musicians took part of the funny-named FROMAGE, which represents a legend of the local scene of the Eighties. CINEMA endeavours today to produce a blazing symphonic music nicely completed with very pleasant Japanese female vocals and large orchestral parts. After a first album entitled "The Seven Stories" (1997), a brilliant "Into The State Of Flux" was released some three years later on the Musea label. "Mindscape" (2004) is certainly the album showing the greater maturity. These seven refined and subtle pieces are enhanced by piano, cello and violin parts, played with great delicacy. Besides slight digressions towards new-age or celtic music, some intense solos of lyrical guitar are present, sometimes close to the illuminations of Steve ROTHERY (MARILLION! ). The neo-classical inspiration of the band provides superb moments of sophisticated music. Not to be missed whatsoever !

Akemi Naito's Mindscape.......2007-06-12

Akemi Naito's new CD isa wonder! Each of the 5 selections are utterly original soundscapes.The first, Memory of the Woods for solo marimba, beautifully performed by William Moersh, combines deeply resonant tremolos seamlessly with magical melodic fragments into a seamless whole redolent of pine,moss and juniper. A solo accordian piece, Sanctuary, performed by the Italian virtuoso Claudio Jacomucci, uses the instrument in the most novel ways to create a unique poetic inner landscape. The tour de force on this CD is the closing piece, Months--Spaces for Zodiac for Satsuma biwa,electronics and chanting.Ms. Naitohas conceived of the elongated biwa as a kind of musical spaceship, hurtling through the cosmos, zodiac by zodiac in musical setting so evocative that it makes all other such pieces seem mundane and umimaginative by comparison.
I cannot recommend this CD highly enough for hose looking for a new kind of experience in sound.

Great disc for metal fans of '06.......2006-03-30

I am deeply sorry I found the great price on Amazon after I bought the damn thing in a store, good lesson to be learned Amazon buyers! This is simply the most hard pounding disc of the year so far, there is a power metal-prog-thrash mix like none other on Mask of Anger. I am really impressed how this band manages to sound raw, but yet refined and crisp, great buy, pick it up!!!!!!

The new disc "Mask of Anger" is a thrashing and driving machine that takes you from 0-100 in seconds and keeps you on a thrill ride through the entire disc. I am so amazed at how far Mindscape has progressed in the metal arena. This is a must have disc of 2006.

Ohio-based power metallers MINDSCAPE have set "Mask of Anger" as the title of their sophomore album, tentatively due in late January. The disc was completed by master engineer Alex Perilias, known for his work with such legendary bands as METALLICA, ANTHRAX and OVERKILL.

MINDSCAPE will open for OVERKILL and PRONG on February 23 in Cleveland, with more dates to follow. A full U.S. tour is expected to launch in the spring.
