Can't wait to get it!.......2007-07-17
My 12yr old introduced me to WT via her love of Anime and similar sites. Very similar to Enya, Enigma and Evanescence, yet vocals and instrumentals VASTLY more mesmirizing and worthy! So much so I bought 2. One for each of us! Looking forward to it! Her's is a surprise.
Amazing!!.......2007-07-16
This is Within Temptation at their best! Every part of this cd has feeling to it. I'f your a fan of bands like evanescence I recommend Within Temptation..and really this band holds their own. GREAT CD!! GET IT!!
Worth the money .......2007-07-04
I looked everywhere for this CD. Trust me, you can't find it. That said it's one of the best CD's I have bought in the past few years. The vocalist is compelling, and the overall sound is great. They're a lot like Nightwish soundwise, but the lyrics are much better in my opinion. Worth the money any day.
I shouldn't have spoken so soon........2007-06-06
I've heard only a few songs from Within Temptation and had avoided them for years after. They didn't gain much attention from me because I wasn't impressed by what I heard (I was expecting a bombastic first impression). I was wrong to do so because I took a listen to them again not too long ago by watching the video for "Memories" and I became highly interested in them. I downloaded "Jillian" and after hearing an awesome intro, I was enraptured completely. I ordered this cd without hearing the rest of the tracks. I rarely do such a thing. "Pale" and "Memories" are gems.
This album has a high range of hauntingly imaginative atmosphere that few bands, Leaves' Eyes in particular, can produce. While having a solid theme to this album, W.T. put various emotions and atmospheres into each song. This is a good trait because it keeps us interested for a long time and usually has the listener repeating the tracks. Why didn't I see this sooner? I am always eager to hear different bands and different material.
This will go into my ever growing music collection.
I recommend Leaves' Eyes because, they too, are able to grow on to the listener, while keeping them in a prolonged trance. I regret the fact that I have avoided this band. Might I also mention that Sharon actually does have a wonderful voice. I have another lady to grace my tons of Anneke Van Giersbergen, Liv Kristine, and Cristina Scabbia vocal contributions.
Wonderful Music.......2007-05-07
For those who are drawn towards any music like Enigma, Enya, or Evanescence, this cd has alot of great tracks. I recommend it to anyone who has such taste in music.

A Deffinate "Must Have" for 80s Music Lovers.......2007-05-30
When I heard SUPERSONIC for the first time, I was impressed. So much that I went on a hunt to find the LP. I purchased the CD and LP and love them both. The song "WAY OUT" is another favorite of mine. I grew up listening to 80s hip-hop and JJ FAD was right there with SALT N PEPA, LL COOL J and UTFO. They had some nice stuff. I also bought there follow-up "Not Just a Fad" sadly, that album flopped. I hear these days, one of the girls is in the fast food business. Wow, how things change. Anyhow, great album and wont give it up for nothing.
Now Really!.......2007-04-04
What? Calling this album "tacky" is like calling country music "twangy". Remember, this album is from the 80s and it's one of the first all-female rap groups. Rap has evolved into hip-hop and is much more produced these days. Back in the day, rap was about harmless competition between MCs not bling-bling and Bentleys. LL Cool J's first album is a diss album too. This album is poppy and fun and will remind you of the good old days: dance-offs, amusement parks, skateboarding, rollerskating, school dances, etc. If you grew up doing the "cabbage patch" and the "running man" this album is for you. (PS I still know all the words to "Now Really".)
Necessary.......2007-01-19
This album is inexpensive. And it is a nostalgic classic of rap at a painful stage of "evolution." The Supersonic track alone is worth the price of admission. And now that Fergie has a hit which shamelessly pilfers the Supersonic sound, you just have to own it to see how the music industry recycles its product. Buy it and learn.
JJ FAD.......2007-01-11
This CD brought back some memories, I love it and my kids love it. Really the first girl rappers, old school, but real, record scratching and beat making. Great.
I EXHALE HARD ON THIS ONE.......2006-12-29
like everybody else, i got this for SUPERSONIC. after that, oh boy. why they did a diss record i do not know. they got dissed too now...........check out roxanne shante's WACK IT. funny diss record from the marley marl cd from 1988............the one with SYMPHONY on it. nostalgia cubed.

Pure fun!!!.......2003-12-02
Read all of the good reviews below --- believe them --- dey be right on target, amigo! As regards the uptightriptideconstipated comments on sound quality made by some of the reviewers below --- were any of you alive when transistor radios were around? Geez, guys, don't you get it? The sound is perfect for the songs! It's supposed to sound cheesy and garagey and cheapononhightecho! Why do you think it's called garage music? Finally, regarding the idiot (see below) who stated that he will burn his favorite tracks and then re-sell the CD--- why don't you burn yourself, instead? With fans like you, who needs critics? Nice way to support a great and truly fun band, guy...Good grief!!!
Overall, this is GREAT, FUN, WIGGLEYOURBUNS stuff --- yeah, not as loud and raucous as previous LS stuff, but who cares?! This is a supercooliciouscheesygreaseburgerfest of an album. So there --- raspberry sounds galore to all of those who just don't get it, and especially to those below who trashed it. If you just want the sameoldsameold, just listen to Classic (puke!) Rock Radio. To the rest of you who appreciate it and want your music to be fun --- cowabunga, baby! Let's don the masks, hit the ropes, and groovydoovy!!! May the Jackets rock 4-ever. Aloha.
P.S. Yes, I am certifiably insane.
Good, not great..........2003-11-19
Good album, but missing the energy of some of the previous albums. I think Velvet Touch... is still their best album (although I am dying to get my hands on the Christmas CD). At times, Supersonic Guitars just sounds flat. I also agree with previous reviews that the production isn't as good. Previous LS albums have some snap to them... this one sounds a little muted. These guys really rock, but just not very much on Supersonic Guitars. By yourself an early Christmas present, and see them live.
I got mine autographed by Danny Amis!.......2003-11-17
This is another fine instrumental rock album from the modern masters of the genre. Some may call it "surf music", but it really isn't. They don't play the kind of guitars typically found in a surf band, and their music is more eclectic than your average surf band. Their is certainly a surf influence here, but they seem to be more influenced by non-surf intrumental bands, like the Ventures and Davie Allen & the Arrows. Anyway, this album is a lot of fun and will be enjoyed by fans of good time instrumental rock and roll.
Skip this one - buy all the others.......2003-10-24
This just isn't Los Straitjackets to my ear. The tunes generally lack melody - where are all those great surf style hooks? It's all replaced by a "heavy" sound that misses the fun that the Straitjackets are known for. I also think Ben Vaughn's production work is sorely missed. While the recording quality is good, it has a gritty feel that would be more appropriate for an R&B record. I hope their next CD will be a return to form.
Excellent!.......2003-10-15
First of all, the flat production on Velvet sucked, not this album. This is sixties inspired all the way and the sound fits the songs and mood. I really don't understand how some fans don't appreciate this album unless they haven't given it enough listens. Isn't Love Grand is great, Beach Bag rocks with some truly bitchin' solos, Midnight in Salerno has gotta be one of Danny Amis' best tracks, and the drumming is definately out of control all the way through. The shorter song lengths fit the group better as well, since, let's face it, any album can be tough to sit through all they way, let alone instrumental music. If you like Los Straitjackets, I gurantee you'll like most of this and isn't that worth the 12 bucks?
By the way, to the "fan" that says he'll burn his favorite tracks and sell the disc. No true fan burns a group's cds (especially a low profile band). I'm sure their other discs have provided enough entertaiment to where you can eat the money. Support your local band, jackass.

Better than the "stuck in a rut" reviewers say it is........2005-05-31
I have nine Guano Apes CD's. Certainly the "Planet Of The Apes" has the cream of the crop, which is where I would point ANY first time buyer of the apes. BUT if you already know & like the apes, BUY "Don't Give Me Names", simple as that. There are MANY tunes on it that appear on their best hits, so SOMEBODY liked them. I have an unusually wide spectrum of musical interest. I LOVE "Quality" wherever it may be found. My collection also includes, Tapping The Vein, Die Happy & Lacuna Coil. I even like The Lords Of Acid once in awhile. As of late, Whenever I feel the need for un-leashed raw female power & expression, I reach for "Planet Of The Apes", it Frosts My Cake. Expand to other Guano Apes CDs Like DONT GIVE ME NAMES, AFTER you've experienced them. Breathe in the aroma, kick the turds around awhile, get to know Land Of The Apes, FIRST. However there are GOOD tunes here not found on their best hits CD.
:: ««« proud like gods »»» ::.......2000-12-08
Don't give me names is the best Guano Apes album far. After proud like a god they have grew, and turned better. This album is a litlle less agressive than Proud like a God, but still can be agressive. The sound has improved in all its way, turned more mellodical and more complex.
The album is all great, but Rain, Big in Japan, and Living in a Lie are the best ones.
It is a great step for Guano, and they are getting far beyond. They are creating an image, and getting away with it. Buy it, if you are a fan, buy it if you are a beliver.
oh my god.......2000-08-11
I live in great britain and dont get to hear many foreign bands but in the last few years ive changed that thanks to a tv channel called viva(a geramn music channel i get on my satelight)and now i listen to quite a few foreign band although none stick out more that guano apes and liquido both of which are from germany.i purchased pround like a god the guanos first album and rocked out all the time i have had it for nearly a year and still it has its place in my cd changer at all times now when i got hold of the new album i didnt quite know what to think but after listening to it for about 5 days solid i found my self rocking out so much it was un believeable and found myself doubting which album of the 2 was the best an question i still dont have an answer for but let me say this no matter which album of theres you buy you will rock out so much it is unbelieveable. This album is definately one of the best this year and will quickly see of any competetors quickly. dont think about it just buy it and you will found out now what many people will be learning soon the guano apes rock!
The Best Rock Band in a long time.......2000-07-31
While this CD doesn't live up to their first one, it has such a carnal power in it, that you can't help but flip out in your car, your room, or wherever you're listening to it at. A few months ago I saw the Guano Apes live here in Stuttgart, Germany. They staight up rocked. I've never in my life been to a better concert. I know that I'll take every opportunity to see them again for as long as I'm over here in Europe, and hopefully, when I do return to the States, they'll be more popular over there and be playing more shows. As long as they continue to put out a product anywhere near as powerful as their first two albums, I'll be buying them as soon as they're available
It's hard to describe.......2000-06-30
when i first bought the album i wanted to do no more than listen to Big in Japan, but after listening to the album i can't seem to get enough. starting with No Speech, Guano Apes don't stop rocking. i can't really pinpoint a favorite on this album. regardless of where you're at you just want to stop and rock out while the song plays. Songs like Dodel Up, Mine All Mine, and Gogan are extremely powerful songs and the Guano Apes don't stop with just those. I look forward to seeing what they can put out on the future.

The Donots " We Got the Noise".......2007-03-13
A very well thought out album, with great guitar work. Especially on " We Got the Noise". There are some songs that aren't as good as the first song on the album, but overall it is a great album.

The Donots Rock!.......2005-03-18
I first saw these guys touring with Millencolin and they are really great! They are a successful mix of pop-rock, punk and have recently developed a much more raw, hardcore edge especially on this album.
There are so many great tracks, opening with the straight up rock n roll anthem 'We got the Noise' right up to the attitude filled 'Punchline'. fans of great gutar music will be easily pleased, 'Knowledge' has a kick ass guitar solo and 'Life ain't Gonna Wait' opens up with an awesome riff! It's well worth looking ito these guys, they have a great knack for penning catchy rock songs and appeal to just about anyone
German Punk rocks! .......2004-07-22
A week ago a good friend of mine bought a new Album "Got the noise" by the Donots.
As we drove in his car we were listening to the cd and I found it was not bad at all.
As i didn't really know a lot about the Donots (the only two songs I've ever heard are "Superhero" and "We're not gonna take it"), I did not expect too much when I bought the cd.
But in fact I was really surprised!
The band plays some really good punk, they in a way remind me of "The Ataris", but they are a lttle harder.
They have some quite catchy songs on their album:
1. "We Got The Noise" - Their first single and entry song. Very good one, although I think there are even better ones on the album. 4/5
2. "Knowledge" - I like the lyrics of this one, catchy chourus! 4/5
3. "Wretched Boy" - Pretty normal punk song, nothing really special to me 3.5/5
4. "It's Over" - I love this one, cool lyrics and melody! 5/5
5. "Diappear" is the "worst" song of the album to me. The singer is more screaming than singing and melody is nothing too special either. 3/5
6. "Life Ain't Gonna Wait" - One of the best songs on the album, has a really cool beginning! A little harder than the other songs (reminds me a little of the new single of H-Bloxx "Leave me alone") 4/5
7. "Alright Now" - Nothing special to say about that song - i like it (nice middle-part) 4/5
8. "Good-Bye Routine" - No E-Guitars this time, a slower, chillin' song, nice change 4/5
9. "Your Way Home" - Again a song with a really cool middle part, the whole song is quite good, nothing too special though. 3.5/5
10. "The Jerk Parade" - Yeah, that one rocks! My absolute favourite! I love the chourus!! 5/5
11. "Cough It Up" - Again a slower, good one 4/5
12. "Better Days(not included)" - Don't know if that is still punk, it's a little harder, reminds me of Hoobastank's "Out of Control". Still I really like it!! 5/5
13. "Punchline" - Good song to end the album with, has some hard riffs again, and the typical punk verses. The ending is really cool!! 4/5
The average rating of the album therefore is 4/5.
I'd say, everyone who is into punk rock and a little harder music should defenitely buy this one!
I can just say, that the few days I own it now, I don't listen to anything else at the moment ;)

Gezeiten rocks.......2005-11-15
I am a relatively new fan of L'Ame Immortelle. The first time I heard their music was "The Truth Behind" on Cleopatra Records' "This is Neo-Goth" compilation from last year. I was hooked by Sonja Kraushofer's angelic vocals and pulsating synthesized beats provided by Thomas Rainer. It immediately led me to buy the band's remix album "Zweilicht". As good as it was, I always wanted to buy one of the band's studio albums but alas their music isn't available in the US for very cheap. I recently got around to buying one of their studio albums "Gezeiten" after hearing some samples off their myspace page. Although albeit short, the music definitely lives up to my expectations. The music is bouncy and addictively infectious especially "Kingdom" and "5 Jahre", two of my personal favorite tracks. "Kingdom" in particular stands out on the cd for me with its throbbing bass lines and Sonja's beautiful vocals. It would be difficult to not want to dance to this song. "5 Jahre" is another great dance track, more aggressive in terms of beats than "Kingdom" but equally as melodic. "Fallen Angel" is a gorgeous piano ballad which is one of the reasons I bought this cd. I found myself captivated by the lovely melodies. While this cd wasn't expensive than a lot of import cds, it wasn't cheap. I definitely found "Gezeiten" worth my money.

Took some time for the music to grow on me.......2006-09-12
I am a big fan of the Austrian industrial/electro band L'ame Immortelle. The only problem is their music isn't or wasn't available at a decent price here in America. Not too long ago, the band finally re-issued their early work at a more affordable cost. One of the cds by them I wanted was "Lieder Die Wie Wunden Bluten" because I heard the lovely ballad "Life Will Never Be the Same Again" on the band's MySpace page and just had to have the cd. I have to say that "Lieder Die Wie Wunden Bluten" took me a few listens for the music to grow on me. The problem lies in the gutteral, cookie monster vocals of Hannes Medwenitsch and not enough vocals from Sonja. The production was less than desirable. Not as good as "Gezeiten". Good cd but not as good as the band's more recent work.
Good album,great band.......2003-11-28
An early release from L'ame Immortelle. Unique darkwave/electro act with mixed vocals.

They'd be a lot better in two years.......2007-04-06
"What you gonna do about it now?" sneers Nash Kato on "The Kids are Insane," the opening track from Urge Overkill's "The Supersonic Storybook." With that defiant beginning, the band attempts to rock the house with this sloppy nine-song album from Touch and Go Records. Despite the rock and roll enthusiasm and warped vocals from Kato as he lists off various cities in the song -- Kansas City, Chicago, Pittsburgh and New York -- there's just something missing about this album right from the get-go. Yes, the dirty guitars and snotty lyrics are present, but overall, this CD doesn't cut it.
On the positive side, "The Candidate" is a good song, the catchiest one on the disc by far. With its strained, tuneful guitar and low, sneaky lyrics, the song takes a suitably cynical view of politicians that we all hold: "I am the candidate," sings Kato, "but I don't even mean it." A few bridges make this song even more interesting. If the major labels were paying attention to UO during this time, it was because of songs like this.
Unfortunately, "The Supersonic Storybook" doesn't stay at this formidable level. "(Today is) Blackie's Birthday," written for drummer Blackie O., seems like it was written just to entertain the guys in the band. "It's Blackie's birthday, he's 22 today," sings Kato. (So what!) At least "Blackie's Birthday" has an upbeat tempo and decent guitar lick, however -- the bluesy "Emmaline is a dull drag the whole way through. Things don't get much better on "side two," though "Bionic Revolution" is less tedious and contains some heartfelt soul in the vocals. "What is Artane?" is a sludgy mess that goes nowhere. Nirvana could get away with this kind of sound during their Bleach days, but Urge Overkill is a different type of band and just sounds lazy when they attempt it.
The final tune, "Theme from Navajo" does feature a juicy guitar riff and barely audible vocals that somehow work. It's not a bad tune but turns to shambles fast, sadly. What this record needed was a good producer to reign everything in and demand some melody. Compared to what was to come later from this band, this work is shoddy and unremarkable. Take a listen to Saturation two years hence and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Some style, but rough around the edges.......2003-05-24
Supersonic Storybook starts off real well with "The Kids Are Insane". When King says "Can ya hear me U.O.?" you know they have some style and confidence. Songs like "Candidate" "What Is Artane?", and "Vacation In Tokyo" aren't bad, but the muddy singing and playing undercut the songs. "Emmaline" is a decent slower song. "Blackie's Birthday" and "Henhough" are basically novelty songs. "Bionic Revolution" is a fun (mostly) instrumental, and "Navajo" is a more thoughtful (mostly) instrumental to close the album out. It's not bad, but the best is yet to come from this trio.
Snazzy suits only tell half the story.......2003-01-24
Urge Overkill fit right in with the explosion of diverse, energetic, out-of-left-field talent that had overwhelmed rock music by the early nineties. Their look definitely set them apart from other alternative bands of that era, and earned them their fair share of scorn as well. This disc finds them at their absolute peak. My favorite song on the album is "What is Artane?" [], but there really isn't a bad cut on it. They had a remarkably funky, tight sound for a "grungy" three piece. As Nash Kato once put it, starting a band should be like declaring war. In their case, it was a war against taking yourself too seriously. Don't get the wrong impression though, despite their sense of humor and their unmistakable shtik, they were definitely not just a wacky, goofball, one joke sort of band. You can certainly tell there's some sharp-edged, whiteboy soul behind those saucey grins. "Emmaline", "The Kids are Insane", and "The Candidate" constitute some of the remaining standout material you'll find on this unheralded classic.
Another UO classic overlooked!.......2000-11-10
This band in their prime absolutely blew me away. This album was my introduction to this band and still, to this day, remains my favorite. Songs like "The Kids Are Insane", "The Candidate", "Bionic Revolution", and of course thier take on the Hot Chocolate Classic "Emma" retooled and retitled "Emmaline". This is a classic album from a classic band. To some these guys were a cartoon, sipping martinis and whatnot. .... Everyone that ragged on them for the "UO look" were out buying matching suits the next day and starting thier own rock band. Unfortunately for the listening public the imitations pulled off the look to an extent, but could never recreate the quality of music these guys created. Buy this one! NOW!
great album.......1999-09-01
This is well worth listening to, like most of UO's material. The Hot Chocolate cover is worth the price alone.

Darkwave featuring male / female vox duets backed by guitars and violins.......2007-01-23
About the Band:
L'Ame Immortelle is an Austrian darkwave band that became popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The band is best known for its duets between vocalists Thomas Rainer and Sonja Kraushofer. Most of Sonja's parts are very soft and gentle, while Thomas's voice hits much deeper and harsher ranges or is distorted to provide a much starker contrast to Sonja's heavenly voice. Some songs are flawlessly sung in English, while others in their native German.
About the Album:
Originally released in 2001, Dann habe ich umsonst gelebt is stylistically similar to l'Ame Immortelle's previous album, Wenn der Letzte Schatten Fallt, which I highly recommend getting before this album. In fact, the band's highly popular song "Changes" (found on Wenn der Letzte...) was reworked as a new song, "Rearranging (Changes Chapter II)" for this album. The main difference with this new arrangement of "Changes" is that instead of focusing on Thomas's vocals, the song is now grounded with Sonja's voice (something which will likely please many people whom prefer her softer voice).
A large number of guest musicians joined Rainer, Kraushofer, and Medwenitsch to add guitars, drums, a violin, viola, and cello to the mix. Of the tracks that featured traditional stringed instruments, I really enjoyed the depth that the violin added to the instrumental track "Erinnerung" and other tracks such as "Life Will Never Be the Same Again", "Was Halt Mich Noch Hier", and "Rearranging". The closing track featured guest vocals from Sean Brennan, whom is a member the well known darkwave band London After Midnight. The instrumental track "Umsonst Gelebt?" reminds me of the dark instrumental tracks on newer Wumpscut albums, and in this case. This track features a cello.
The track "Slut" was billed as one of the hits from this album, but frankly I really don't care for the track. I don't mind distorted or harsh vocals, in fact, generally I'm a big fan of that style of vox. And Sonja actually shows her range as a vocalist, by also offering up some harsh vocals on her part (in fact she reminds me more of Birgitta Behr from Dust of Basement), which is a point in favor of the track. However, in this case, I think aside from both artists' vocal contributions that the rest of the song just isn't nearly as layered as I tend to expect from l'Ame Immortelle. The track "Voiceless" features both harder edged vox from Sonja and deep and emotional vox from Thomas, but there is just enough more going on in that track that I like it.
There also was a single, Judgement, that included remixes of "Judgement" and "Rearranging". (And yes, they consistently misspelled judgment, but who cares.) Personally I would recommend getting the full album over the single. Even though I've listed those two tracks as some of my favorites from the album, the other tracks featured on this album make it well worth the price of the full album. My favorite track is the marshal / leading sounding "Was Halt Mich Noch Hier". Not only does the arrangement feature a mix of violins and guitars, but both Sonja and Thomas sing the same lyrics at the same time, but in two totally different styles: soft and hard.

The Best of German Darkwave (Electro-Goth?).......2006-04-07
One of the best CDs I own and really the greatest L'ame Immortelle album. L'ame Immortelle combines the harsh male voice with the beauty of the female voice to create a unique sound. I believe "Forgive Me," is the standout song. The lyrics are just so memorable, "Our love is stronger than the sun and we'll still shine when I am gone," and Thomas R. actually sings in a nice voice which he rarely does. "Epitaph," "Slut" and "Voiceless" lean toward the goth side of the album with Thomas singing in his trademark harsh way, with Sonja K. in the last two songs. The rest of the tracks are sung by Sonja K. in her wonderful voice. Even if you don't understand German the singers manage to make the listener want to hear more. The music alone is worth listening to, an interesting soundscape of electronic beats. Overall, recommeded for the electro, darkwave, industrial and goth fan.
Licht und Shatten.......2004-12-24
While I was browsing the goth/heavy metal section as always I came upon this CD. I thought that the titles sounded pretty good so I gave it a try. I was hoping for at least a decent CD but this band gave much more than I had expected.
1.)Erinnerung- This song is a great intro even though it is instrumental but its still beautiful.
2.) Judgement- She has such a gorgeous voice, the lyrics are perfect.
3.) Epitaph- I don't like this song very much, but then again I don't really like how he sings so it's understandable.
4.) Rearranging- Another great song, but I would of liked it if she were to sing by herself.
5.) Slut- to me I find this song funny even though many will raise an eyebrow or two
6.)Umsonst Gelebt?- another instrumental but rather good
7.) Licht und Schatten- Best song on album. I actually like how the guy sings in this song, he sounds much better in German. I'm impressed with the lyrics, the words go along with the sounds they choose for this song. Simply a masterpiece
8.)Voiceless- another good song
9.)Was Halt mich noch Hier- this song is also in German, extremely good.
10.)Forgive me- no words found
11.)Leaving- very touching lyrics and I think the guy does a good job singing in this song, the girl's voice is also heard in the background.
12.)Dead Actor's Requiem- pretty good
13.)Life will never be the same again- another work of art.
Now I'm a new fan for the L'ame Immortelle
