I wasn't expecting to have 4 discs for this price, and the music is a quality selection of film music, giving a good scope of the genre, and a very listenable transfer.

This collection is bound to capture your heart and evoke a tin ear on successive tracks. I found much to like and some duds - easy to skip over.

For the price, this CD is a great bargain. The musical selections, as you might expect, are mixed in quality ranging from extraordinary to so so, the balance being worthwhile and interesting. Sonically the CD is excellent.

I have been listening to great scores for many years and this collection is truly inspirational in so far as the choice of different scores takes you on a journey of listening pleasure matched by only a few collections.The price is incredibly reasonable for hours of listening pleasure. Don't pass this one up

      Album Description

      Rossini, Tchiakovsky, Bizet and other "classics" destroyed with drums, bass and a fuzz box. 50 minutes of "funny" operatic parody ranging from "The Bride of the Valkyries" to "Stars-n-Strippers Forever." The Baroque Wind Sessions is Vinnie and the Stardusters' second CD, their sophomoric effort and the classical "art" theme is basically to make their mothers happy that their music isn't all just dirty songs.

      Being a huge fan of Hawkwind, and all of their "Friends & relations", and taking into consideration some of the poorly recorded material, this is the absolute worst recording, of any band, I have ever heard in my life. The sound quality makes "Bring me the Head of Yuri Gagarin" sound like a state of the art sonic masterpiece. Nik Turner just mumbles inaudible gibberish, and the band sound like a bunch of drunken old geezers that can't play anymore. No one in the band has a clue what song they are supposed to be playing. It truely sounds like a bunch of non-musicians grabbed some instuments and "lets play some Hawkwind!" then used the cheapest boom-box recorder to tape it from a distance of a half a mile away. Beyond pathetic. Even if you are a die-hard collector of everything Hawkwind, you will deeply regret this waste of time and money on this expensive item.

      Here's a CD release I never expected to see.A two-disc set of the 1970 line-up of Hawkwind reunited,minus Dave Brock.You read that right.A 2000 live release,pulled from two gigs,Wales and Birkenhead,UK.There's Nik Turner,Huw Lloyd Langton,Terry Ollis on drums,Thomas Crimble on bass and Dik Mik on keyboards.The sound here is far from perfect,but acceptable,except for maybe one track.I guess we're all spoiled on that 'perfect sound'.The music here sounds fine,it's just on some of the tunes,Nik's vocals do sound a bit distant.Overall,a pretty good mix.Like a superb audience recording.The crowd does sound very enthusiastic.Enjoyed the entire thirteen track performance,from the opener "Sonic Attack",the ageless gem "You Shouldn't Do That" and was totally blown away with "Odyssey Improv..."(which is actually "Seeing It As You Really Are").Must mention the mesmerizing version of "D-Rider".It was nice to hear Langton's "Waiting For Tomorrow" as I couldn't get enough of the seventeen-minute version of "Silver Machine" where the crowd was heavily involved with some rather well done audience participation rarely seen or heard,I'm sure.Let's not forget the ever-lasting Calvert classic "Spirit Of The Age".That concludes the Wales shindig.There are four tunes from the Birkenhead outing,"Sonic Attack"(again,but welcome),"Be Youself","Psychedelic Warlords"(vocals are way off)and one of my favorite Hawkwind recitals Ten Seconds Of Forever".Pretty much aimed at Hawkwind/Nik Turner completists.Recommended.

      5 out of 5 stars GREAT COMPILATION, TERRIBLE ALBUM COVER!!.......2007-04-10

      This 2-CD set is a great listen, and a bit of a pricey rarity, it turns out! Luckily I only had to shell out 13.95 at my local Rasputin..That aside, the tracks range from stereotypical yet good late-sixties hippy psych to early seventies bloated prog rock that would have sent John Lydon into a ranting fit. Great soundtrack overall for a Kool-Aid Kult, for sure! Strong tracks are from Man, Uriah Heep and of course, Hawkwind. Master of the Universe is my favorite from them, and the version on here rocks the universe. Great thing is that most of these tracks are a bit on the obscure side, making it a cool comp to own. Only downfall is the album artwork, which looks like some horrible techno trance album from 1996, complete with lame "retro" stylings and fonts. Great overall, though..
