2 out of 5 stars Not what it could be........2005-05-11

Pounding the Pavement is a mess of an album, and a poor example of what Wow & Flutter is capable of. This album is 56 minutes long but there's probably 25 minutes of music worth listening to...maybe.
Basically, it has three types of music. One really isn't music, it's just ambient noise and a complete waste of time. This includes Last Flight 8:15, Wedding Storm(an intro to Pounding the Pavement), and Thin-Air Evolution. Second, are purely instrumental songs like Pie, Pounding the Pavement, Electrohome, and Shoeshine. These are fair and melodic sounding, most of which are made up of clean guitars and drums that loop over and over. Lastly, are the songs that are actually worth listening to, such as Freezer Burn, Breakable Doll, and Longest Holiday. All of which contain the stuff that W&F excel at: clever lyrics, harmonic guitars, and unique drum beats. Drilling holes is the only song that really stands out, but not in a good way. A sort of combination of the three types, it's a pain to listen to and represents the worst of W&F.
I recommend their first album: Guilty Pleasures, which is miles above this and doesn't waste time getting to the good stuff.
