One man's heaven is another man's hell, and in America, those who would rather not eat apple pie seem to spend their post-teen days rocking out to humorous songs about how much life sucks. Hence the success of Green Day, Blink 182, and Less Than Jake. Dum Dums are of a similar mind as those Yank punks. But while "The Kind of Day I've Had," "Everything," "Caught Me in a Trap," and "Killing Me with Kindness" are skate-punk tales of dead-end jobs and general suburban hell, it's skate-punk U.K. style. Theirs is rebellion with a pop sensibility more akin to the Jam and the Police than the Offspring. Consider that Steve Powers (Robbie Williams) agreed to produce them before they were signed. Like Williams, they have an endless supply of catchy tunes, a healthy does of rock attitude and, in "Lonely Hearts Company," "Army of Two," and the epic "Until My Ship Comes In," the ability to tug at the heartstrings and still be cool. --Dan Gennoe

2 out of 5 stars Poor man's Green Day.......2003-01-31

The only reason I'm not giving this cd just one star is that unlike many of the other pop artists around today they actually write their own songs. They have the snotty nosed pop punk traits of Green Day but not the punch, songs or class. Sorry guys dont give up I would rather see you number 1 than Britney or Nsync.

5 out of 5 stars Mexican FAN!!.......2001-06-24

I've been in the music bussiness here in Mexico for a while and i got to tell you that this is one of the best bands i ever bought...congratulations and hope some day to see them live.

5 out of 5 stars A great CD.......2001-05-25

This CD is awesome. Buy this CD...it will be a great addition to your collection. Every cut from it is awesome. Listen to the track previews, and you'll see what I mean. They are a really talented band, and their CD has a lot of diversity, so it's great to listen to form start to finish.

5 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT.......2001-04-29

the DumDums are one of the most talented bands ever, and this album certainly proves this. Josh, Steve and stu wrok together to form execellent music with everyday undersdtanble lyrics, that peopel can relate to. The songs rock, especially Kiling me with kindness and Army of two, a must have.

5 out of 5 stars Dum Dums- A reaction to Boybands!.......2001-07-26

Dum Dums set out to be a reaction against manufactured boybands, girl groups and boy/girl groups. These guys sure are. The uk band's debut album is one hell of an album. Crossing into many styles of music, the classic ballad to ska/punk to pop/rock. Josh doyle's true life lyrics give any fan a feeling of comfort no matter what the situation. Given enough publicity these guys can be the next big thing, with famous fans ranging from Alice Copper, Robbie Williams, Dave Grohl, Feeder and Five.Give these guys a try with a sound similar to Green Day and blink 182, no wonder why they are making waves all over the world.

5 out of 5 stars Nothing dumb about this album.......2001-12-14

This is a fantastic CD. (...) Sadly the Dum Dums split up in July, but this, their one and only album lives on, bursting with energetic guitar music - all very catchy. The band had great charisma and I can't wait to see the result of Josh Doyle's (lead singer) next project.

    5 out of 5 stars Brilliant!.......2000-12-14

I think this album is great! There seems to be a song for every occasion! Alot of people dont like the music because they find it difficult to give it a lable, but isnt that a good thing?
