If you like electro pop, if you like pop, if you like dancing and enjoy singing along, this is your record.
This is the best purchase I've done in months. Really. "Don", "Tu Gurú" and "Quiero" are so impressive.
They may not be Beethoven but this is pop. And being pop, is WONDERFUL!

OK, this CD is heaven if you like electropop and catchy tunes. Personally, I am in love with all of the songs because this CD doesn't have the lame ones that are stuck in between of what are meant to be hits. It's quality work and has made a fan of Miranda forever!!

Brazilian prog-rock milestone.......2006-05-23

Recorded after the dismissal of singer Rita Lee and the departure of former front man Arnaldo Baptista, Tudo Foi Feito pelo Sol is the amazing result of Os Mutantes diving into prog rock. Led by Sérgio Dias, it combines the beautiful melodies also found in previous Mutantes records with the virtuosity and complex instrumental interplay of progressive rock. "Deixa Entrar um Pouco D'agua..." and "Desanuviar" are my favorite tracks, along with the instrumental track "Pitágoras".

This album does not have the hype of the previous Mutantes psychedelic records, and was not release on CD until very recently (its vynil release easily reached US$500 on used-record stores before that). But it is a true classic, and the music resembles a lot "The Yes Album": Sérgio Dias is a Steve Howe-caliber guitarrist, and Tulio Mourão reminds of Tony Kaye.

i am very impressed with this brazillian prog-rock crossover. very good arrangements. the lyrics suited for the time the album came out. this is a must have a jem. if you like captain beyond, deep purple mkIII, yes,funkadelic and frank zappa. you will find all these flavorful sounds to satisfy your hunger for brazillian rock. this albyum is very different from the early hippie-tropicalia sound. if anyone has information on brazillian hard, stoner, prog. rock from the 60's and 70's please let me know this vital sourcs of music.

My first listen to Alumnium Group.......2003-02-05

I picked up this baby in a used record store and gave it a listen and I enjoyed it. Although I think it's a little spare on the lyrics, which is often fine since the songs are really chilled out and soothing. I've been told older Alumnium sounds different but I have little interest in a deviation from this style and would recomment this album to anybody that wants something to chill too.

Adventurous, in a good way.......2002-03-15

Just as Radiohead is willing to rework its approach to music, Aluminum Group is undeterred from exploring alternative musical concepts.
Working with Tortoise has opened up the possibilities.
I, for one, am looking forward to future releases.

The sound of the mighty , falling further.......2001-02-10

I consider Wonderboy+ and Plano as pioneering albums of the po-mo pop era. Pedals had its moments, but tried too hard for "art." Sadly, Pelo continues this unfortunate trend, and abandons most of the really good stuff the Aluminum Group had going for it. (Way too much form, not enough function, you know? We ask for Chocolates, you give us a semiotic reading of a cook book.) I hope the boys realize that exquisite, brainy pop is more than art enough. And the fact that I love Sally Timms breaks my heart even further. She deserves better, guys!

Halfway Between.......2001-01-13

On their fourth CD Pelo The Aluminum Group land halfway between the sharp chamber pop of their charming Plano and the hollow overreaching of its follow-up Pedals. Gay brothers John and Frank Navin guide their collective through these ten supple, ambisexual songs, never as playful as their think they're being (except on the pseudo-instrumentals "Pussycat" and "Pussy Reprise") nor as pretentious as a few of the titles would imply. The brothers have deep voices that borderline pomposity, which compounds their moonier ideas (like "Tom of Finland [An Homage]"!) and adds poignancy to their hyper-romanticism. "If You've Got a Lover, You've Got a Life" is a highlight, if not also a statement of intent, and they're best when they're fast and funny, as on that track and "Satellite". On the slow ones, however, they're not only ponderous, they're dim-witted.

Part disappointed - Part delighted.......2001-01-12

I am the world's biggest "Aluminum Group" fan. So, the first time through this CD I must say that I was upset. With a few notable exceptions I didn't recognize it as an "Aluminum Group" release. Since then, "Pelo" has grown on me. Yet, I still yearn for the delicious Navin harmonies. No offense to the various collaborators but nobody can outdo the Navin brothers together. I appreciate new directions that's why I give this album 5 stars. Still, I long for the days when the arrangements were simple and the voices lush.

Brazilian Hardcore!.......2001-12-22

This is a great record, from start to finish. Recorded and released in 1983, the original record Crusicados Pelo Sistema really stood on its own, being such an influential release from Brazil at the time. Sistemaos Pelo Crusifa is a re-recording of all the classic tracks, with some extras on for good measure. The sound is great, with awesome Raw production, and the chaps at Alternative Tentacles have also added the original album in full as a bonus track (so you can compare the two versions). Gordo's voice is now more brutal and grunting in the style of Buddha (BFB) or Dean from noise legends Extreme Noise Terror (if you like bands such as ENT or Brummie punks I.O.D. i suggest you pick this up). Probably my favorite release on Tentacles.

If you're looking for the remastered edition of the great 80's Crucificados pelo Sistema album, forget it! This CD is a re-recording of the same songs made in 1999. Anyway RDP was the best hardcore band from Brazil and this songs are all really classics.

Love Banda Calypso.......2007-07-17

I fell in love with the music of Banda Calypso when I discovered it by accident on YouTube. Joelma, the singer, is a ball of fire. Her husband Chimbinha, guitar player, is on stage with her. She choreographs and designs costumes for herself and the dancers. She has an amazing, powerful voice. They are a phenomenon in Brazil, where audiences love ths group--up to 100,000 have attended their concerts and you can see them mouthing the words when the camera sweeps over them. This CD is filled with infectious music sung in Portuguese that makes you want to get up and dance!
