Product Description
Brute's Nine High A Pallet is the result of two days of jamming between Vic Chesnutt and Widespread Panic, an odd pairing if there ever was one. On paper, Chesnutt's stripped-back, bitter, folky records seem at odds with Widespread Panic's winding, Allman

Vic + Widespread=A whole bigger than the sum of its parts.......2002-04-18
This album is a longtime favorite--one of few I've listened to perhaps a hundred times all the way through. The combo here beats the heck out of their respective separate careers. Some folks are taken by Vic's nazal whine of vocals, but he's darn good for a guy in a wheelchair. Widespread's kept on a short leash by Vic's lyrics, which are full of sarcastic humor and also very poetic. You pretty much can't go wrong here, period!
Interesting.......2002-03-20
FYI...I am coming at this album from the wsp angle and not that of a die-hard Vic fan. Cool little album, and nice to hear some songs in Panic's repertoire as they started out.
Buyer beware: Do not purchase this if you are in any way expecting a wsp outing. Nice collaboration though.
Buy it already, Marty!.......2000-11-08
I am a long-time Panic fan, and I just found out about this gem. Vic adds a nice touch of folk and melody to Widespread's heavy sound. This is as down-to-earth as music can get. Kudos to Panic and the way they're able to work with other musicians, such as Vic Chestnut and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, to consistently produce new and interesting music.
Sweet...No fotin'...Smith loves it.......1999-10-05
A treatin' masterpiece...Have to agree with Jostski on this one..."Let's Get Down to Business"...Tremendous...Wooo-Weee Doggie!!!
Widespread and Vic, what more needs to be said?.......1999-09-14
This collaboration between sadly overlooked artist Vic Chesnutt and jam band Widespread Panic, both from Athens, Ga., is a classic. Stay tuned for the hidden track. Some moron burglarized my house and I'm replacing the CDs that I can't live witout. This is one of them...

10 YEARS and still not sick of it.......2007-03-08
The way Vic's lyrical eccentricities and Panic's uber-band talents blend, you'd think this was a match made in R.E.M. Heaven. They reign each other in a bit, but bring out the best in each other too. I heard this when it first came out and I've never tired of it.
Should Be Called Lightning In A Bottle.......2002-07-07
The mixing of crazed bitter folkie Chesnutt and jam band Panic in unexpectedly pleasurable. The combination is pure genius, pure gold. Panic's playing is excellent as ever, and is improved by the resistance to the impulse to jam. The result is infectious, mesmerizing and divine. Every track is superb, especially worthy of note is the mournful, haunting `Westport Ferry', the funky, groovy `Alright' (both versions) and the poppy, irresistible `Good Morning Mr. Hard on'. The group will please fans of both bands, as well as fans of bands as diverse as The Dead, Bicycle Thief and Bap Kennedy. It's a must have, an album that gets better with every spin. Spin it now.

Customer Reviews:
Oh, Vic, where in Hell had you been.......2000-08-01
Because these songs don,t seem to come from any place in Earth or Heaven. Congratulations to the artist, the buyers and everyone else that got red from this damned record, someone please make me stop listening to it.
Oh, Vic , where in Hell had you been.......2000-08-01
Because we need to remember that some kind of Hell really exists, that always did. Please, keep writing songs to make us forget the hope we've been tought and find a closer one.
