4 out of 5 stars A decent split.......2007-03-09

I must say that I was a huge Jebediah fan back in the day (still am) so I was excited when this split was announced in 2000. I do agree that the song selection was a little strange from the jebs. 'Animal', the first single off 1999's 'Of Someday Shambles' ais far more superior when played live compared to the album version, 'Star Machine', 'Did you really' or 'Feet Touch The Ground' may have been a better choice. 'The Least Trusted Pain Remover', a b-side off the 'Animal' single, is rather too long and, for me, doesn't really kick in until towards the end which turns out to be the songs' redemption. The next song is 'Harpoon', a classic from 1997's 'Slightly Odway' with its tale of love and confusion. The australian release of this split (on Redline records) has a different song line up with the awesome 'Simple' and a crappy re-mix of 'Please Leave'

JEW's three songs are all great. 'No Sensitivity' is my favourite of the three and is such a great pop song (well, my version of pop anyway. This version of 'Cautioners' is far superior to the 'Bleed..' version. Although I love Rachel Hayden's voice, the album version feels overproduced and looses some of its impact.

Its hard to compare which band is better as they both have different styles although the bands themselves are quite good friends. Jebs trump Jimmy in live performances though..just

The vinyl release is quite stunning with its three clear 7inches. I recommend it. I have given up looking for the red and white vinyl release of this.

3 out of 5 stars Jebediah could have done better.......2003-05-15

Let me first say that Jebediah is a superb band. What disappointed me with this CD was the inclusion of two sub-par songs by Jebediah. 'Animal' was possibly the weakest single they've released, and the other song is a b-side which has never even appeared on one of their albums. Not a particularly smart way to try and break into the American market.

Jimmy Eat World contributes three typically solid songs. No Sensitivity in particular is quintessential Jimmy Eat World - catchy hook, melodic chorus. But being a fan of both bands, I can honestly say that the best Jeb songs are light-years better than even the best Jimmy Eat World songs..

Another reason why I consider this combination of bands somewhat strange is that Jimmy is a emo-pop band and appeals to a particular demographic. Jebediah is a pop-punk band, but the similarities end there. Jeb is fun, irreverent and frenetic. Think Jimmy Eat World meets Green Day.

If you are interested in checking out more Jebediah stuff, I would highly recommend the 'Slightly Odway' album, and in particular their b-side 'Simple' and the singles 'Jerks of Attention' (get the fast version) and 'Teflon'. That showcases them far better than the uninspiring Jeb songs included on this CD.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Split EP With A Band No One Knows Here In America.......2003-03-27

I got this cd last Christmas from my parents. It has three Jimmy Eat World songs, and two by Australian band Jebediah. It's a darn good album. Every Jimmy Eat World song is solid, including original version of Bleed American's "Cautioners", and the two from Jebediah are good. All in all, a nice addition for fans to their Jimmy Eat World collection.

4 out of 5 stars No Sensitivity.......2002-12-16

I actually havent heard any of the other songs on this cd but I would like to say that No Sensitivity is not only the best song by Jimmy, it is possibly the best song EVER. Words cant describe how awesome this song is. The acoustic guitar solo is amazing. This cd is worth buying just for that song and im sure the other Jimmy songs are awesome too though.

5 out of 5 stars amazing.......2002-07-28

3 out of 5 stars not their most memorable work........2007-07-16

first of all, this is not the jimmy eat world you think you know. if you just finished listening to bleed american or futures and are looking into buying this cd, stop right now, this cd isn't for you.

for those who are fans of jimmy's earlier work this is an intriguing collection of songs in the same vein as static prevails. the problem is, it's hardly as memorable as there isn't a single stand out track in the group. it's surely interesting, but not necessarily worth your time.

jebediah's contribution at the end of the split cd isn't much better. the only song worth listening to is the ending track, "harpoon" and even that will have you searching for where you last placed jimmy's prized album, clarity.

if you're a rabid fan of this band, or an obsessive collector, you may want to pick this one up. but if you're a music fan, you should probably skip over this lackluster effort.

2 out of 5 stars First 10 and last 3 have very few good parts........2006-02-20

I would just like to say that the first disc is not even worth wasting your time with. I am one of the biggest JEW fans you will ever find and this is the worst cd by far that they have ever come out with. The best song on the first disc is when they are not singing. If you enjoy JEW and their soft and melodic ways then this is not your cd. While listining I was wondering if this was even the same band that produced the two greatest cd's I've ever heard (Clarity & Bleed American). The cd pretty much consist of someone who you can't understand screaming and bad guitars. I am writing this to warn people that the first disc is awful and don't even waste your time. Now the second disc is slightly different. The first two songs are spectacular and that is the only reason they got 2 stars. The third song is just a badly-done version of one of my all-time favorite songs "Cautioners." If you really want to hear this disc just search "Jebediah" on amazon and look for JEW and Jebediah and you can buy this disc seperate from the other one. Jebediah is an awful band and doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as JEW. So all you die hard JEW fans like me. Stay as far away from this cd as possible and put on Clarity because you may never hear anything that good from Jimmy Eat World ever again.

New album cover, extra tracks??? was the US label trying for an EMO look for the band?????, great cd but not as good as their Debut 'slightly odway'

4 out of 5 stars title.......2005-05-04

I really like this CD a lot. The best stand-out feature of Jebediah is how they have such a versatillity in song-wrinting styles. There's punk song ("Slot Car Racing"), songs that could be argued to be emo ("Did You Really?"), your basic rock songs ("Feet Touch The Ground"), even a song with heavy country influence ("Happier Sad"), and an orcestrated epic masterpiece ("Run Of The Company"). The whole album is very well put together and is one of those gems that can be and should be listened to from beginning to end every time.

5 out of 5 stars Jeb Rock.......2001-12-22

Basically, as an Aussie I get alot more Jebediah than American's see. As much as Of Someday Shambles is an awesome album with some brilliant songs, most notably Star Machine and Please Leave. But all the songs are great in their own right. However the biggest shame is the fact that Jebediah's debut album Slightly Oddway wasn't relesed in the US as it is the most amazing album I own. It is one of the albums I can listen to non-stop a few times over. Just to note Jerks of Attention in Australia was on Slightly Oddway.
Jeb rock, get all you can of em!

4 out of 5 stars Platinum.....in Australia.......2000-12-28

I saw Jebediah with Jimmy Eat World a few months ago and I must say that I didn't like them at first. I didn't understand what he was saying, and quite frankly, was just looking forward to Jimmy Eat World. My friend bought both this and the split EP with Jebediah and JEW and both are really good. I only give this a 4 because my fav. Jeb. song, Harpoon, isn't on this, but I like the song Animal alot. The rest of the album is emo-tinged but is really just Austrailian pop-rock. It's good, though.

5 out of 5 stars Cool CD from Australia's best emo bands.......2000-11-11

whats up...

I first saw this band when they were on tour with the Get Up Kids and the Anniversary. They were very good and they totally gave it their all to put on the best show they could. There's not really much more I can say except if you like emo + rock you'll like this band. Give them a try! Another thing is..."Star Machine" is one of the most rockin' songs I've ever heard.

5 out of 5 stars Rockin Animal.......2005-04-04

Jebediah Rocks. Of Someday Shambles being their second album release and contains an album full of great music. Jebediah showed that they have growen as musicians from their great debut Of Slightly Oddway. Kevin Mitchel's singing voice is uniquely distinguishable which makes Jebediah who they are.

The opening track of Did You Realy sets the tone for the entire ercord. Star machine is a nice catchy tune, Congratulations needs no congratulations and Animal is a killer track that you can rock out to. Trapdoor and Slot Car Racing are fast and furious, while the rest of the album contains gems such as Please Leave and Feet Touch The Ground. Skin, In Orbit, Love At Last and Happier Sad are not filler material but good quality songs. The last song on the album, Run of the Company is totally different for Jebediah and it works.

Overall a gerat Aussie Album from a great Aussie band who after their first album have been screwed over by the public and media. A nice bonus song Big Beer Wall is hidden at the start of the Album. A Rockin Animal of an Album.

5 out of 5 stars No shambles here.......2000-05-30

'Of Someday Shambles' is an accomplished recording, so much so it's hard to believe this is only the Jebs second CD. Every track is a winner - especially 'Please Leave', 'Skin' and 'Feet Touch the Ground'. 'Run of the Company' is a haunting orchestral piece which many alternative groups seem to be adopting nowadays (Green Day 'Time of Your Life' and Peppers 'Road Trippin' two prominent examples) Overall an excellent CD with a great mix of heavy rock and screaming vocals with more ambivalent tunes throughout.

5 out of 5 stars Jebediah have outdone themselves!.......2000-03-30

'Of Someday Shambles' is the second album from The Best In The West, Jebediah. Anyone who has not heard Jebediah should be ashamed. With albums like these, Jebediah should be played (more) in the USA etc. This album has smashed the 'worrying of releasing a good follow up to a debut album' to bits. Some favourites on this album include 'Star Machine', 'Please Leave' (the new multi-release single), 'Love At Last', 'Feet Touch The Ground', and 'In Orbit'. 'Feet Touch The Ground' is an exceptionally outstanding song, being the follow up to the first single, 'Animal'. 'Feet Touch The Ground' is a hidden epic with a meaning that the band do not wish to expose, with a repetitive two-chord riff by singer/guitarist Kevin Mitchell, a base for the song that is surrounded by exhilerating licks from lead guitarist Chris Daymond, that seem to bring the song alive. This song, along with the other 12 songs, brings 'Of Someday Shambles' alive with feeling, and certainly a great follow up to 'Slightly Odway'. This is a 'must buy' for any Australian music fan, and anyone who isn't, should buy this now!

5 out of 5 stars Some of the Best Aussie Music.......2000-03-15

Jebediah's second album, 'Of Someday Shambles' is a modern masterpiece. Following their highly successful debut 'Slightly Odway', the band has excelled with their wonderful tunes and highly relevant lyrics. An album chock full of great guitar driven pop, the tracks are as varied as can be. From the almost punky sound of 'Trapdoor' to the full orchestral backing of 'Run of the Company', a definite stand out.

The band got Mark Trombino to produce the album (of blink 182's dude ranch) but it is the songs themselves which make the album. The Jebs started as fantastic two minute pop artists and this ability has not left them, however the new maturity in songwriting has allowed them to incorporate many different styles, from tuneful ballads such as 'Star Machine' and 'Please Leave' to the pedal steel of 'Happier Sad' and the unrequited love pop feel of 'Skin'.

Almost unrelenting touring has proved the Jebs to be one of the most popular live bands around at the moment, definitely getting the mosh pit going with tracks from both their albums. These days it is difficult to get an album that is great from front to back, but the Jebs have managed to do it, twice. Check out the sleeve art on 'Of Someday Shambles' - an absolute laugh.

5 out of 5 stars JEBEDIAH rock.......2000-03-14

This is a fantastic album. The stand-out tracks are, "Star Machine", "Please Leave", "Animal", "Feet Touch the Ground" and "Run of the Company". This is a fantastic album. Buy it!

      3 out of 5 stars Jebediah - Jebediah.......2003-10-06

Im mainly writing this review to correct the other reviewer.

Although this is in fact a self titled effort it is not their debut album, it is in fact there third and was released after both 1997's "Slighlty Odway" and 1999's "Of Someday Shambles"

The album as a whole would seem fairly obvious that it is not a debut due to it being a much more polished affair than either of the first two albums. Having said that it is what i would call a solid effort but after having a brilliant debut (followed by an alright but far too long and indulgent second, which contained some great songs but tends to really stretch on)this release lacks any sort of lasting quality and is simply just more Jebediah. Whilst it is consistent with most tracks being reasonable with a few standouts ("Fall Down" - novel use of bagpipes, and "Nothing Lasts Forever" - the absolute standout) both of which were unfortunately singles which usually points to some weaker fillers. The rest of the album is filled with solid but nothing too new or original songs (tracks #1, 10, 11, 12) and some albsolute sh#t (track 3).

Overall this would be placed second behind their actuall debut (Slightly Odway) and well ahead of a lacklustre second (Of Someday Shambles) in my humble opinion. I would recommened buying the debut first as it contains some absolute beauties ("Leaving Home", "Harpoon", "Invaders", "Military Strongman") whilst this seems as simply a more polished affair showcasing Jebediah songs but not really pushing any limits

      good, not great

      3 1/2 stars

      4 out of 5 stars A Promising Start.......2003-08-06

This is Jebediah's debut album which shows great promise. There are some great tracks like 'Nothing Lasts Forever' and 'Fall Down' but they leave much to be desired. Jebediah's musical success has led to the American release of "Of Someday Shambles," which is a much more solid album and really shows that they're coming into their own sound. If your new to Jebediah, you should definately start with this album plus Jebediah's self titled album is an import that not many can afford anyway. Their split EP with Jimmy Eat World is excellent too.

i bought this album about 3 months ago and it has spent most of its time in the cd player. this album/compilation is a work of art and is not to be missed. you may think that because it is jebediah's b sides it may not have many good songs on it, but every song is great. the songs all vary from being made during the slightly odway album, of someday shambles and the jebediah album so it contains music from their early stage and later stages. it also contains 3 cover songs which are very good also. they are pace it form the superjesus, clint by something for kate, and when the generals talk by midnight oil. and they have benn done very well. overall if you are thinking of buying this album, do it. you will not regret it. great indie music
