Editorial Reviews
Out of the ashes of 2004, through the putrid mist of hyped TV pop-stars, a new organic life form has surfaced, Hey Da Vinci has arrived! Against all oncoming fads and hype, Hey da Vinci, Vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Ethan James, Leo McHugh (Lead gtr/vox), Michael Whyte (gtr/piano) and Mick Fink (drums) make a stand for the song the lyric and the melody. The four have succeeded in recording a solid body of work. Ten songs that paint pictures and tell stories set in the great urban landscape. A journey down a highway that tears through places and lives regardless of time and human frailty. Hey Da Vinci's debut album ironically titled Perfect Life is a credible start to a career of a band that has a level of depth to offer its listeners and the band is set to bring these pictures to life onstage for all to see, hear and taste. Rajon. 2005.

Album Description
Touch Somebody's Life, a CD of inspirational sacred songs, offers timeless and timely solace for these troubled days. The recording features 10 traditional spiritual and gospel standards. For more than seven decades, soprano Irene Day's voice has consoled the bereaved and lifted spirits over several generations. The original master of her solo album, He's Everywhere, recorded at Chicago's historic Brunswick studio in 1982, had all but disintegrated through metallic erosion and was nearly forgotten. But after 9/11 her music may have a second life in the form of a newly released CD, Touch Somebody's Life, which has been digitally re-mastered and musically enhanced with new arrangements, and dedicated to the memory of the victims of 9/11. Executive producer Dennis Day hopes that the new CD will find a new generation of listeners.Irene Day has the unique ability to make her listeners feel that there are only three people in the sacred space of worship: The soloist, the listener, and God. Gifted with a rich lyric soprano voice, a fully two-octave range, and perfect pitch, Irene Day's delicate, sweet singing resonates with a personal faith tested by the vagaries of human experience. Anchored by the able accompaniment of pianist Marilyn Hairston, this re-mastered recording also features several renowned New York City-based musicians; J.D. Parren on woodwinds, Bob Cunningham on contrabass, and Dr. Gregory Hopkins, tenor/pianist extraordinare. The music of Irene Day offers the listener that special personal place of meditation, prayer, and reflection. "This is music inspired from a Christian perspective, but its raw emotion and power resonates with all people of faith," says Dennis Day. The CD includes songs like "Precious Lord Take My Hand," "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow," "Balm in Gilead," and others - songs that have traditionally provided hope and comfort to people in distress.

Sung Like This, They Should Stay Remembered.......2005-09-30
I found some of the Aler collection quite familiar, others new and highly attractive (where have they been all my life?), and others that are lifted above the ordinary more by the singer's voice and art than by intrinsic merit. The songs are predominantly art or concert songs, composed mostly in the late 19th or early 20th century. Elegant, highly romantic, often ambitious, sometimes sentimental, popular in their time with lovers of semi-classical music, and often performed in concerts by leading singers of the day. Their lyrics include the poetry of Joyce Kilmer, Robert Herrick, Rabindranath Tagore, Shelley, Poe, Yeats, Eugene Field, and Sydney Lanier.
Did Aler get the idea for this CD from the fine baritone Thomas Hampson's CD, "An Old Song Resung"? Hampson's CD (unfortunately out of print), came out in 1990; Aler's, in 1995. The songs in both collections might well have been sung to similar audiences at similar concerts by similar singers. Still, the two CDs have only two works in common: - "Do Not Go, My Love," composed by Richard Hageman in 1917, and "When I Have Sung My Songs," by Ernest Charles in 1934. Both songs are superb, and both singers do them beautifully. I would give Aler a slight edge on the first; Hampson, on the second.

Album Description
Soothing, instrumental, acoustic, nylon string(classical/neo-classical) guitar works, with influences of classical, new age, jazz, flamenco and perhaps even a touch of rock... New Age favorite "Midnight Watch" has been featured on "Hearts Of Space' on NPR! "Echoes" on PRI has featured that rack, as well as most of the others too! "Gypsies In Snakeskin Boots" and "Wake Up Call" are a touch more "up-tempo" tunes, "Child's Play" is a beutiful open tuned, soft and soothing piece featuring Joe's children's laughter at the opening and closing.Customer Reviews:
I have to agree with Murphus "Steve Murphy" on this one........2006-07-05
Warm and soothing sounds from the Ends of the Earth.......2004-11-16
I played the CD while eating my dinner, and then found myself playing it again, and then again once more. Listening to Joe's music was like sipping on hot mulled cider after a long autumn walk in the chilly northern forests of the Olympic Peninsula. It warmed me right down to my toes.
Some of the melodies are familiar, while others are Joe's own compositions. All of them are beautiful, gentle, evocative pieces, and I hope that this is just the beginning of his creative output.
