This is no Krautrock.......2001-08-25

I just have to write a review because people might think this CD sounds like Faust, Can, or some other Krautrock band from the 70s. This CD is definitely no Krautrock at all! But other than that, it's a very nice album. It's basically a "best of" of Jo Zimmermann's stuff - some of which was produced by one half of Mouse On Mars. Instrumental music with nice melodies - which all sound a little bit weird.

If you have reached this page, and are reading this, you might as well go ahead and put this album in your shopping cart. Coming from Köln's A-MUSIK label you know you're getting something quality, and Schlammpeitziger doesn't fail to please (everytime I listen to it). Using an aray of bargain basement analog synths and drum machines, this album recalls a time when electronic music wasn't such a complicated beast. Don't expect any crazy breakbeats or 170 bpm dancefloor madness. Instead "Spacerockmountainrutschquatier" is deceptively simple. Not unlike the music produced by Moebius, Roedelius, and Conny Plank in the late seventies, Schlammpeitziger fuses playful little melodies with equally delightful backing tracks. The beats are simple and restrained, but there is enough other "content" that anything more would seem like over-doing it (like Ringo in the Beatles.) All in all, I would recommend this beautiful album to absolutely everyone!.
