OK well these are early recordings DIFFERENT TO THE VERSIONS FO THE SONGS ON IS THIS IT. THey are not quite as clean as the versions on is this it, still good though. Defanatly for teh fans. Heres how they difer form the is this it versions.
The modern age - lyrics changes, less of a solo and WAY faster.
Last Night - more lyric changes.
Barely legal - not as catchy as on is this it but there are lots of lyric changes and i dont know why it was taken out for is this it but barely legal here has one mad solo!!! Awsome stuff. Although it doesnt have the little guitar picking bits that happen between verses and before the last chorus on is this it.
the strokes do it again... (they do it everytime!).......2002-12-08
im not going to make this long, dont judge THE MODERN AGE or the strokes because of what you hear unless its it that you're hearing, trust me, this ep rocks, and you've got to hear it for yourself, my personal fav from this THE MODERN AGE (track) is the chorus, although you could say its upbeat, any "genre" will enjoy it...
stroking it.......2002-08-08
These guys are the boy band of rock and roll. And guess what? I love them. While they all hail from Manhattan and are the sons of prominent socialites (at least casablancas is) their brand of soul guitar driven garage rock is exactly what music needs. Not only are the tunes and melodies catchy but simple, they are pure fun to listen and dance to.
This is the rock and roll your parents talked about but hasn't been heard since exhile on main street or VU.
It's Official........2002-01-26
With the purchase of my third Strokes CD in the last month, I guess it's official...I'm a fan. Which of course comes from the word "fanatic," defined by Websters as, "unreasonably enthusiastic; overly zealous," and, "a person whose extreme zeal...etc., goes beyond what is reasonable." Hell, I've even sent in a letter to join the Fan Club! I try and explain to my friends, and myself, why a 32 year-old man would get so jazzed about The Strokes, or any new band for that matter. And the only thing I can come up with is that it feels like there just hasn't been anything worth listening to for the longest time. The Strokes simply kick butt, with simple, fast rock n' roll. This EP is a lot of fun. The stripped down, early versions of these three tracks give a brief peak into the band's development over their brief career. Although I don't necessarily prefer these versions over the ones on IS THIS IT, I do like some of the lyrics better. The production and the timing of the band have greatly improved from the raw talent and energy displayed on this EP. Let's all hope they don't get destroyed by the hype, or worse yet, self-destruct from their own vices or egos. Keep it up Strokes.

"Fab" demo.......2005-02-26
This Ep contains three well-written,catchy,and tightly arranged songs from the band we've all come to either love or hate as "The Strokes". "Barely Legal" is a spontaneous and blissfully energetic tune with Julian's distorted delivery sounding sexier than ever. "Last Nite" is an irresistible tune with Julian's voice taking on a tone of reckless despair. The guitar solo is simple, but within this simplicity lies its complexity, in the fact that the band manages to grab the listeners' attention with such a simple riff. Finally, "The Modern Age" is an awesome song with pounding verses and a catchy chorus. Once again, the instrumentation is very simple, and doesn't seem require much technique, but it manages to grab one's attention immediately. "The Strokes" aren't the saviours of rock and roll. And you know something, it was Spin magazine or whatever that quoted them as such. "The Strokes" have never claimed to be anything except for a group of young, dedicated musicians who are here to entertain and please their fans. That, they manage to do due to Julian's (I'll say it again) distorted delivery, the simple, groovy guitar arrangements, and the tight drum beats. You cannot help but nod your head, and even at their most energetic, "The Strokes" manage to keep their low-key, chilled vibe that adds to their originality.
P.S. I want to f*c* Julian
