Ex-Black Crowes guitarslinger Marc Ford's second solo album literally sounds like a classic. With its conflagrant riffing, big six-string tones, blues bedrock, and tunes that swing from soulful pop ballads like "The Other Side" to grinders like "Don't Come Around," the disc recalls a time in the '60s when groups like the MC5 and Humble Pie were at rock's creative apex. The wah-wah-mad instrumental "The Big Callback" also nods to Hendrix, and "Smoke Signals" has the drama of early Neil Young and Crazy Horse. But ultimately Ford's a synthesist, not a copycat, so his unpredictable guitar heroics are as likely to explode into clouds of whinnying feedback as to sprint into marathons of bent, ringing sustained notes and pentatonic scales. Ford's lyrics display a street poet's sensibility that matches his light-sandpaper voice. And as a song interpreter, he shakes the dust off "That Same Thing" with expressionistic jabs of moaning, raging guitar that make the hoary blues chestnut a raw, unexpected highlight. "Just Take the Money" trumpets contempt for his former bandmates. That's not the classiest move, but with his own fiery style at his absolute command, Ford needn't worry about burning bridges. --Ted Drozdowski

Album Description

Marc Ford's first record was with CBS' renowned retro blues rockers Burning Tree in the late 1980's. Burning Tree's self-titled debut album was a much-heralded debut among guitar aficionados and led to Ford being asked to join The Black Crowes.

Ford put his stylized guitar stamp on the Black Crowes' records "The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion,""Amorica" and "Three Snakes and One Charm" as well as making two additional records with the band, "Tall" and "The Band" which were recorded in the 90's and were previously unreleased until 2006.

Ford accepted an invitation to join "Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals" and toured with them, recording their EP and DVD each entitled "Live at the Hollywood Bowl."and won a Grammy Award in 2004 for his involvement with Ben Harper and the Blind Boy's Of Alabama's record, "There Will Be A Light." Ford also appears on Ben Harper and the Blind Boy's Of Alabama's DVD "Live At The Apollo." Two years ago Ford was asked to rejoin The Black Crowes and recorded their "All Join Hands" reunion tour while also continuing to work with Harper, appearing on his 2006 album "Both Sides of the Gun." After the 2006 release of the double CD and DVD "Into the Fog," Live At The Fillmore with The Black Crowes," Ford left the Black Crowes and began making plans to record "Weary and Wired." This significant recording shows Marc's strength as a singer/songwriter, fueled by large doses of his phenomenal guitar work that brings to mind such masters as Clapton, Hendrix and Beck.

5 out of 5 stars Marc Ford is the `blackest' of the Crowes!.......2007-07-13

WEARY AND WIRED is the most rock and roll album from a former Black Crowes member. When I heard Rich Robinson's PAPER I thought that he was the owner of the Crowes' sound, but after listening to Marc Ford I found that I was wrong. He's a gifted funky guitarist and also a good singer.

With influences by Hendrix, Tom Petty and the Crowes, this album is a great choice for any rock and roll, blues or soul lover...let's support the man buying his record, he wont disappoint you!

4 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Good.......2007-07-10

Overall an excellent effort with surprisingly good production. Always a huge Marc Ford fan, particularly with the Black Crowes. After his recent hasty departure from the band, and reuniting with Burning Tree, I wasn't sure what to expect from this effort. Overall, I enjoy nearly all tracks, in particular 1000 Ways, Dirty Girl, Other Side, Currents. The 2 instrumentals Greasy Chicken & Big Call Back are funky and well recieved.

Bravo Marc...you are the man!

3 out of 5 stars Smoke Signals.......2007-05-31

You have to support Marc Ford with his recent difficulties with the over-egotized Black Crowes. He was always the striking noise on Southern Harmony, and it probably wasn't his fault the albums went downhill after Amorica. His first solo album was an interesting venture, sounding almost Jayhawks-ish at times (with Louris as a guest on some tracks), but ultimately over-long.

Weary and Wired has the same troubles, and then some. My favorite cup of tea is '70s meat and potatos rock but somehow this doesn't quite come off. Most songs seem stunted or too simply constructed (if that can be a criticism of such a genre). I guess it's just that they're not that well conceived. I actually don't have a problem with Ford's singing because it's genuine, but his lyrics are bad even for meat and 'taters standards. Guitar-wise there are bursts of brilliance and slightly more room allowed to hear them, but in a world with the likes of Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks I don't know if this will hit the the note overall (to call Ford a great slide player is just a tad silly, and Haynes just seems to conquer at everything).

There's a lot of genre crossing here, from Free stompers to Southern not-quite fried to distorted blues. People have raved about The Same Thing and it is attention grabbing, but ultimately seems to rip off Jeff Beck circa Trust (also The Allman Brothers do a much meaner, improvised version on their recent tours). I guess that's the problem--probably too derivative and again too long (what's the point of Running Man Blues and Bye Bye Suzy, apart from the former's searing solo???).

In simple terms Marc Ford needs a band. Not the Black Crowes. Not Ben Harper. He needs a captivating singer, probably a co-writer, and he needs to thrust himself that way into the limelight. Then he can stick one to the Crowes. Watch out for the wanted ad.

5 out of 5 stars A better guitarist there isn't..........2007-05-16

Marc Ford is an incredibly talented musician. This CD rips from the get-go! I could listen to the tones he gets for days, but his melodies are fantastic as well. Buy it and you won't be dissapointed. I just wish he could find a way to still make music with the Black Crowes.

3 out of 5 stars Not bad, but expected more.......2007-05-09

I've heard Marc with other bands and expected a little more from this solo. Might have been the choice of songs, but it left me wanting more.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars "11" on the dial .......2007-03-16

Leslie West is a fine guitar player but this "blues" record is over the top in terms of guitar tone - consistently saturated (think Neil Young and Crazy Horse at their craziest or Tommy Iommi). It sounds like he took a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier amp and turned everything to 11. I don't know about you, but I like a little nuance with my blues and that word is not in Leslie's vocabulary. When I listened to this, I thought how great it would be if he would make another Mountain record. Unfortunately, "Never in My Life" does not translate into the blues. Skip this release and get "Leslie West Live!", his 1993 record.

5 out of 5 stars Another good one!.......2007-02-08

If you really like Leslie West you like every note he plays. Not because he's good but because of how his sound makes you feel. These are some pretty nice covers. Green River in particular. If you do like Leslie this is another one you should have...but then again if you really like Leslie you have probably already decided to get it. You won't be disappointed.

3 out of 5 stars Flat and Uninspired.......2007-01-11

I purchased this one because I've been a big Leslie fan for years and the reviews were unanimous five stars. I hate to be the sole dissenter, but I found this CD pretty mediocre and uninspired. It sounds workman-like to me. That Leslie tone is there and there are hints of Duane Allman on the first cut, ZZ Top blues and Govt Mule at times on other cuts. Leslie's voice throughout is that sort of monotone huskiness with no variation. The guitar work is of course competent and has its moments, but there's nothing jaw-dropping here at all and little reason to go back to this CD for repeated listening. It's pretty generic blues and as there are so many technically proficient blues guitarists out there that can do this, I can only give it 3 stars.

5 out of 5 stars Blue Me Away.......2006-11-26

Once in a blue moon an album comes around that's what I call a "total play". Ever cut is a gem. This is one of those albums. Oh yes Leslie has been leading up to this with his last 4 or 5 releases,in which he's gone back to his roots, the blues. This is how I dreamt it would be for Leslie, as he & I grew older. I remember Leslie so well as he was part of my very first concert ever when his first group the Vagrants opened for the Yardbirds 1967 at the Commack arena. Through the years I always thought of Leslie as the tastiest guitarist on the planet. For me one of his best cuts was his live verison of Dreams of Milk & Honey on the Flowers of Evil album. Matter of fact that whole live side is just the best, that is until,Blue Me. The production, his guitar work,& most of all the unmistaken voice of Leslie himself, he just in fine form.I would pay a king's ransom to see him do BLUE ME Live, with the musicians on this album. He's never sounded better. This should go down as a classic, and it's a must have for any Mountain or Leslie West fan. Leslie should have a spot in the Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame. He's a legend.

5 out of 5 stars Blue Me.......2006-08-08

Nobody plays the guitar like Leslie West. Blues to Die For, great. Got Blooze, great. Blue Me, over the top. There is not a bad song on this album. Finally Leslie's great talent is show cased to the T.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Great blues-rock!.......2007-06-07

Eric Gales is one of the few artists out there keeping my favorite genre alive--blues rock. The material on this CD is top notch, reminds me a lot of Kenny Wayne's Trouble Is CD. His guitar playing is phenomenal, blending lightning fast Satriani-like runs with the feel and tone of Hendrix and SRV. His own style, in other words. Personally I'm not too enamored with his vocal style, but for me it's good enough to serve the material well. And they are great songs. Keep up the good work, Eric!

5 out of 5 stars ELECTRIC Blues Guru.......2007-05-12

Wow! What a effort by this terrific guitar player! Eric Gales should get more recognition by the masses. This CD is contagious and catchy. You'll find yourself humming the melodies or even harmonies after one listen! I've got all of his efforts and this one is great! You won't be disappointed! He has a very decided Hendrix influence and yet taken a step further. Some of the tunes are radio friendly, though not a bad thing 'cause they are just plain tasty! I've never been able to see him perform, but I can truely imagine as his music inspires musical visions.

5 out of 5 stars Eric Gales is the real deal.......2007-05-05

When Eric released his first CD (Eric Gales Band), a friend of mine told me about it, so I bought it. I was absolutely blown away. Here is this 16 year old kid playing hard blues rock like he'd been doing it for 30 years. I own everything he has put out on CD, and even though I find it hard to believe (as a guitar "player" myself), he just keeps getting better. His latest CD, Psychedelic Underground, is incredible. He has matured to a level most musicians will never reach, even though (hopefully) he hasn't neared his prime. This is his best release to date, and I can hardly wait for his next effort. How about a DVD, Eric?

5 out of 5 stars The Psychedlic Underground.......2007-03-21

The Psychedelic Underground is pure Eric Gales. The strong songs, strong vocals, and strong musicianship across the board make this album the next step in the staircase up to wherever this young man is taking us. The two openers, "Wake Up Call" and "Rumble", are definitely the best openers on record, and when the chorus of "I've Got Something On You" hits, the realization of the originality that Eric Gales exudes becomes clear. His last album, Crystal Vision, should have been hard to top, but the vibe alone on Psychedelic Underground adds it as another masterpiece to the collection. Eric Gales' big strength is his ability to move forward with his music from album to album. This has been true since day one, and it is even more apparent now. Each song is a stand alone, including the unexpected, brilliant "Pretty Lie" and the Texas trio style "Crossing the Line" and once again, in true Eric Gales form, the cherry on top is the last song, "Someone Else's Problem". The Psychedelic Underground is truly great, totally unique, it is well delivered and it marks our place until we find out where he decides to take us next. It's important to listen to his records and see him play live, Eric Gales is so welcome in the music world, now and always.

4 out of 5 stars What a Treat.......2007-02-28

Gales came into my radar with the release of "that's what i am" and then there was a long 5 year wait for "crystal vision". Now a year later we have this release and I can only say that I am thankful. When an artist touches my heart ......... graditude.

I've always thought of Gales as a strange offspring of the greats. What Albert King was the granfather, Hendrix and Trower the Dad's while Jeff Beck babysat the kid while he grew up. What king of player would he be? He'd be able to play 32th note ascensions and decensions up and down over a 4/4 beat in a triple phrasing, and it would sound like a butterfly flying from flower to flower. Gales plays with a attitude and intensity that can only come from the streets yet he brings grace into every song.

Well, enough with my petty senimentality I love the guy what can say? The focus on "underground" brings the vocals up in the forground more than other CD's. His singing now deserves this attention. Vocally this is a great disc. Guitar wise, the man can't seem to play a bad note.

All I can say is Thank you and I hope this a trend that repeats and we get another disc next year.

Bless you, Eric

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Blues with a very heavy twist.......2007-02-06

Leslie West takes old Blues standards and kicks them up with some seriously heavy electric guitar. I prefer his "Blues to Die For", but this is very good stuff as well. Traditional slow Blues like "The Sky is Crying" and "The Thrill is Gone" are highlights for me.

4 out of 5 stars I'm a Leslie West Fan!.......2006-02-25

Somebody else who reviewed this recording mentioned that it would have been nice to hear other than covers. I agree to a point, but I've been a Leslie West fan from before he joined Mountain. Anything he does is just icing on he cake for me. He's been around a while, and this recording proves he's still got it! Highly recommended for lovers of blues or blue rock music.

2 out of 5 stars Another Great Line-Up, but..........2005-11-01

all covers. I know it's heresy to speak ill of such a awesome group of guys, but I am not a fan of cover material. Spend a little creative effort on the song-writing side, vice the performance aspect. We need new material from you guys, not more re-hashing of other people's songs. Michael Schenker, Pat Travers, & Frank Marino must have covered every rock/blues song out there. Press forward with original songs, so that in 10-15 years, the next generation can cover them.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic.......2005-10-10

This is by far the best blues album that I have heard from West. A lot of old blues tunes redone and some great rock and roll included.

4 out of 5 stars West of theMountain theres Blooz.......2005-09-29

A stonking set of blues rock classics delivered hard and direct by the big voice from Mountain and driven by stixman extraordinaiire Aynsley Dunbar . Hilites are Hendrix/Cream covers and 2 pieces relevant to New Orleans.
A list stuff for my "Good Morning Blues" show .

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Good by anybody elses standards but..................2006-09-27

Not as good by "Eric Gales" standards. If you're new to Eric's music his previous CD
"That's What I Am" puts this to shame. As well as his phenomenal work with his
brother on the two "Eric Gales Band" CD's. The song writing is not as strong here.
If you have all of Eric's work and are missing this one it's still worth getting. It just
doesn't measure up to his previous stuff.

3 out of 5 stars Eric Gales is a great guitar player..........2006-05-31

but the song writing is no where near as great as on "That's What I Am"! The only songs that even come close are "CrystalVision" and That's how it is. Now, I'm no pro critic but "Thats What I Am" was one of the freshest things I had ever heard and seeing him "live" was even better(where's the tour dates)but "CrystalVision" was a little disappointing.

5 out of 5 stars He keeps getting better.......2006-05-24

Crystal Vision is a good cd. do I think there's more Eric Gales can do? Certainly, but this is an excellent beginning to a new Eric Gales. Stand out cuts include: Retribution, Crystal Vision, Trouble, I don't want you hangin around, old school and a fairly decent remake of Hush. Again, all the cuts are decent. Gales is definitely another in the line of Hendrix legacies. He is coming more into his own with this cd. it's a good pickup if you like the blues/rock type of guitar player.

5 out of 5 stars What can I say.......2006-03-28

What can I say... I don't know if Eric will ever become the household name that his talent calls for. To me he is without a doubt one of the best, if not the best, guitar players on the planet. He has come so far from his first release to Crystal Vision. He has taken the next step on this album. Not with his guitar playing, that was going to get better anyway, but with his vocals. When you listen to Freedom from my Demons, his voice, along with his guitar playing and tone, is what takes you to another place. I am from Memphis, and as good as this album is, to truly witness his greatness you have to see him live. I saw him at a local bar perform with Lance Lopez and Wes Jeans, and it was amazing. He sat in with Wes Jeans, and Wes started a song, which I assume will be on his upcoming album, and Eric Gales took over the song and started playing notes and creating sounds that I have never heard in my life. Wes Jeans getting caught up in the music coming from Lance Lopez guitar, put his head down and started to shake his head. I said Lance Lopez guitar because when Eric Gales sat in with Wes, he played L.L. guitar. He took his guitar and just flipped it over and played it backwards. It was incredibe to see. Up until that time the best guitar playing performance I saw live was Henry Garza Jr. from Los Lonely Boys. But Raw Dawg is a superior player. His tone, and his phrasing has no peer. I don't mean to hate on John Mayer, but people are saying he is the torch bearer for the blues and the guitar, but he isn't in the same room as Eric Gales. Quite frankly nobody is. Crystal Vision goes from one place to another. It goes from metal to blues, but somehow it all fits, and it all works. I totally agree with one reviewer here, when he said imagine a Stevie Salas album with better vocals and better guitar playing. That was truly an accurate statement. All I can say is if you have the time and money, pick up this album, especially if you are a guitarist. You won't regret it.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Excellent........2006-03-25

I've been a fan of Gales ever since I saw him open for Indigenous in 2001. I think this album is his best work to date. Production is great and really highlights his amazing guitar tones and playing. This album is really a collection of styles, from King's X-style hard rock/blues to funk to slow blues to even a little jazz fusion.

Aside from his guitar-playing, I think this is also his best vocal effort. Again, to use a King's X comparison, he really sounds like Doug Pinnick and there are even some vocal harmonies that you'd swear Ty Tabor is doing. The band is tight and still grooves like the old band.

Gales is really an amazing player and he absolutely BURNS live. Like all the great blues artists before him, his most virtuosic playing is reserved for the live shows. I really hope more people start digging this album, because it's one of the best blues records released in years and Gales is one of the best blues guitarists alive today.

Eric Johnson. Duarte has made the
kind of guitar-driven blues record that
    fans have been waiting for.

    Album Description

Chris Duarte Group emerged on the scene out of Austin, Texas in the early 90's and gained notoriety after wowing a packed room of industry insiders at the South X Southwest convention. In the wake of Stevie Ray Vaughan's passing, Duarte quickly gained a national reputation as a young man imbued with a playing style comparable at times to the late guitarist.

    Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars WASTE OF MONEY.......2006-09-23

REALLY DONT KNOW WHY I BOUGHT THIS CD. THE REVIEWS WERE TOTALLY OFF BASE. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN P.T. UNPLUGGED! NO POWER IN THESE CUTS PERIOD. BETTER TO DOWNLOAD THE ORIGINALS. EVERY CUT SOUNDS THE SAME. POOR ENGINEERING, LEAD, BASS AND DRUMS. YOU WANT POWER BLUES/ROCK GO FOR INDIGENOUS, ERIC GALES, EVEN LESLIE WEST OR RORY GALLAGER. PUT THIS LAST ON YOUR LIST.

4 out of 5 stars Always an entertaining listening experience.......2006-09-01

This guy just keeps getting better and better. I've been listening to P.T. since his "Boom Boom" heyday of the late 1970s, but the polished music Travers is making today almost defies description. Playing all styles with heartfelt depth and emotion, his cover of Zeppelin's "How Many More Times" is something to behold. A talented (and vastly underrated) song writer, Travers' ability to take his listeners on a fun filled trip is simply beyond reproach. Shredding better than ever, Pat Travers is the music industry's best kept secret.

4 out of 5 stars PT does it again!.......2006-04-08

WOW! Boy does this guy still know how to rip it up.

All covers this time out. From "Green Eyed Lady" to "You Are The Music", there is nothing but a good time to be had by all.

Pat once again makes these cover tunes all his own, putting a fresh spin on some well known classics. I mean my God, he covers Queen & Led Zeppelin on the same disc. How cool is that..

Fans looking for original material, check out PT=MC2 from 2005. Also very good.

Fans craving even more Pat Travers doing cover tunes, check out PT Power Trio, Don't Feed The Alligators, Blues Tracks, and Blues Tracks 2....Rock On!!!!

ps -catch this guy live if you can as PT live is even better than PT on CD. :)

5 out of 5 stars The Whole Thing Rocks.......2006-04-07

Rocks solid from start to finish. Every song's a keeper, and not a sleeper in the bunch. Hope Pat keeps crankin' 'em out like this one. Let's have more!

4 out of 5 stars PAT TRAVERS PT TRIO 2-SOLID.......2006-02-28

I have listened to the latest in PT's release pattern this one is titled PT POWER TRIO 2 and it really rocks. pat seems inspired, nice selections from 60's and 70's. people in their mid 40's on up will appreciate this more than some of the youth of today. this release is a great beginning for kids to hear and then go back to the originals. pat has done all of the songs justice while making them his own. I have been critical of pat's releases because of his lack of original songs but in all due respect to his talent, he seems to have gone back to his youth. he plays with renewed fervor. musicianship is top notch and this makes the listener feel good inside. its seems pat is releasing lots of material and that is a good thing-lets hope his search to his roots brings more original songs for young and old alike.

    Customer Reviews:

    5 out of 5 stars Nice.......2004-06-28

Most guitarists have failed where Richie has succeeded (attempting the blues), he has a feel for blues that even some blue only players lack. There's plenty of tech heads that fullfill my needs so I don't miss all the leads, I'm so glad Richie uses his talent in this way. His vocal debut was a shock and surprise, this is another one (only in a good way this time). You'll be shocked that this is Richie again making his best vocal album that focuses on some serious blues for old and new fans.

    5 out of 5 stars Absolutely spectacular.......2004-03-19

One of the best blues albums ever produced! This CD is the work of a true bluesman, with a lot of soul and emotion. It's hard to find another guitar player who shifted so radically his style as Richie did. In case you don't know, Richie was the 80's shredder prototype: hyper-speed-guitar-boring-licks, a lot of technique, but no feel whatsoever. The peak of his uncoolness was perhaps his work in the Poison, one of those cheesy hair bands from the 80's weird musical scene. This is definitely in Richie's past, and in this album he mingles great technique, true blues inspiration, and an awesome punchy guitar tone. His version of Tobbaco Road is just breathtaking. Guitar lovers around the world, this album is a must have. Yeah, the blues is allright!!

5 out of 5 stars A little bit of everything.......2001-08-29

I find this cd to be thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end. Richie's voice suits each song perfectly, as does his understated guitar playing. That's not to say he's not proficient because he certainly lays down some fantastic solos and licks, they're just all put in the right places. While this is not a straight-out blues cd, there's enough swagger and sweat to suffice. "Gone Tomorrow Blues", "Broken Man Blues" and "From Four Till Late" definetly keep the faith. "No Kind of Hero" is a great heart-felt song, and the covers of "Tobacco Road" and "The Thrill is Gone" are great too. I also love his version of "They're Red Hot". Robert Johnson would be proud! All in all, this is an excellent offering by a singer/guitarist who has definetly found a great blues/rock niche. I hope that he continues in this vain!

    4 out of 5 stars AFTER A 15 YEAR SEARCH..................2001-08-04

I've found a guitarist that I am happy with !! I am an ex prof guitarist that enjoys SRV, Hendrix, steve Vai, Satch, Benson, Golub in fact most of the favourites (and some not so famous) in most Genres.. I have a long association with blues, Hard rock and Jazz have been looking for a technical Guitarist with Ultimate (soulful)Feel for years. Kotzen is 97.5% there !! His guitar skill is excellent, his feel is special but I feel he has stepped away from his potential in his more commercial albums... However his voice is incredible and can make a song all on its own.. you have to hear "tobacco road" on this album to see where Kotzen wipes the floor with an old favourite of mine (Dave lee Roth).

In my opinion this album is Kotzens real development in blues which he accomplishes with ease.. It is an excellent album but I am still left wanting.. You get the feeling he has dipped his toe rather than plunged in !!

HOWEVER As a result of this (and something to say) I have bought 5 of his titles but this is the greatest... To any rock guitarist that indulges in blues BUY IT.. to any Musician interested in twisting original scores BUY IT and to anyone interested in that Vocalist that tingles your spine BUY IT.. The man is gifted as a musician and as a singer... Now I want Bi polar 2

5 out of 5 stars Richie does it once more!.......2000-03-23

This is probably one of Richie's best albums. I always wanted to hear Richie playing the blues and here it is.The vocals are amzaing as always, the guitar playing is beautiful and the compositions are out of this world.Songs like "no kinda hero","The thrill is gone" cover and "A step away" just show how good this guy is. A must for any Richie Kotzen fan and a very good album for any blues lover.

you will like this album if you are more into the heavier mountain sound as mr. west still has the goods both vocally and guitar wise. songs like i'm ready and don't start me talking stay in a more traditional blues form with west playing some tasty guitar.i agree that some songs the guitar tone is less than stellar but overall a worthy effort.

    1 out of 5 stars Highly disappointing.......2005-11-14

Brief flashes of the Leslie West I remember, occasional glimpses of his blues prowess. But the satisfying moments on this disc are too few and too far between. I rate it "a complete waste of money".

    3 out of 5 stars blues died.......2005-09-30

Leslie West did his best, a little weak, fine for the meak,There is better out there, short of a six pack maybe just a beer.

    5 out of 5 stars Gloriously Disturbed.......2005-09-30

    This is The Blues baby.

If your Mom and Dad brought you to the concert now is the time to tell them to go on home 'cuz we gonna kick out the jams, disturb your mind and kick your ass with The Blues.

Long-neck bottles, sly-looking women, cars that go faster than they look - and Leslie West is eyeballing your mama - so you better ante up and keep your cards close to your vest 'cuz - Baby! ...this IS the blooze!

4 out of 5 stars This will smoke your shorts.......2004-11-06

Whatever "it" is, Mountain man Leslie West still has it. There's some seriously kickin guitar work here to go along with Leslie "sound of pure evil" vocals. I don't understand why he's not getting the same exposure as other supposed guitar heroes. Labels should be beating down his door and offering him the chance to rip it up in the studio every month without fail. Blues fans should be worshipping at the alter of the Great Not As Fatsby. Virgins should be dancing and the little children laughing and playing in the streets. This is the blues, baby!
