Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Neat Singles Collection Vol 1.......2006-05-10

First off, both versions of Blitzkrieg's "Buried Alived" and "Blitzkrieg" are not the original 1981 version. In fact the track "Blitzkrieg" is taken off from Blitzkrieg's 1985 album "A Time Of Change"; although the version of "Buried Alived" found here is a 1985 outtake that was never released. For those who are searching for the original 1981 versions, seek the the Blitzkrieg 2 Disc compilation called "A Time Of Change-Phase 1". One more thing to note for collectors. On Disc Two (The B-Sides) the track "All Systems Go" by Steel (1981), is another misprint. In fact it is "All Systems Go (Full Scale Emergency)" by Hellanbach (1983). The orignial version of "All Systems Go" by Steel (1981) can be found on the compilation "The Flame Burns On : The Best Of Neat Records".

As for the compilation, Disc One features the A-Side of the single, for instance Track 1 is "Don't Touch Me" by The Tygers Of Pan Tang. On Disc Two features the B-Side of the single, for intance Track 1 is "Burnin' Up" by The Tygers Of Pan Tang. Neat idea by the record company to do this.

Disc One features the A-Sides
Disc Two features the B-Sides

Disc One (The A-Sides)
The only A-Sides on Disc One I did not like was :

Dedringer - "Hot Lady"(1982)
Dedringer - "Hot Licks And Rock N Roll" (1982)

Besides these two tracks, I pretty much enjoyed all of The A-Sides on Disc One.

Disc Two (The B-Sides)
The only B-Sides on Disc One I did not like was :

Valhalla - "Trouble With You" (1982)

Besides this track, I pretty much enjoyed all of The B-Sides on Disc Two.

For those who are collecting NWOBHM albums, this one is highly recommended. Also check out "The Neat Singles Collection Volume One, Two and Three", "The Flame Burns On : The Best Of Neat Records" and "NWOBHM : Lightnin' The Nations 25th Anniversary Collection"

2 out of 5 stars Misrepresntation and Dissappointment.......2003-03-23

Let's face it: NEAT Records was important to the NWOBHM movenent, releasing singles (mostly) and albums (eventually) from bands we metal guys couldn't get enough of (Raven, Venom, Aragorn, etc.); and a complete collection of the singles of the label's output would be most welcome. Let's face it: NEAT Records released a considerable amount of product most metal guys couldn't care about (Valhalla, Heavy Pettin', Dedringer, etc.). Among the most crucial (and obscure) releases from the NEAT singles catalog is Blitzkreig's "Buried Alive"/"Blitzkreig" 1979 7". The fact that the versions which appear here are NOT the original release versions, but newer recordings from the mid-eighties (when Blitzkreig, realizing their new marketability in light of Metallica's then-recent cover, reformed), is an unforgivable sin of omission. The Aragorn single is welcome, and all the Raven, Venom, and Tygers tracks are here (actually the third track from the Tygers' debut is absent), but these are all available elsewhere. As someone who owns the original vinyl (and knows the difference), I was looking forward to owning this material on CD. Bad job, guys.
