About the Artist
BARBARA SCHAAP has been writing original musicals for kids since the early 1970's, retelling the children's fairy tales and classics then writing her own new stories. Founder of "Theater Workshop's Fantasy Playhouse" a theatrical institution on Long Island, New York since 1975, Barbara was trained at Juilliard School of Music and The American Theater Wing. She is a talented musician and performer, comfortable at the piano or on the stage, an accomplished singer, dancer, actress, costumer & set designer. Barbara writes for the 9 year old child that she says is trapped inside her body. "When that kid laughs, I know it's funny, when that kid likes it, I know yours will too." Writing for this audience is a big responsibility since children believe much of what they see and hear on the stage, especially when their peers act out the material. She believes that good theater should educate, enrich, encourage and entertain; that kids are a lot smarter than they let you th! ink they are. She let the IJK Singers help choose the songs they love best.

Excuse my language, but this is crap!.......2004-03-08

Hello. I recieved this CD from a relitive of mine. I thank god every day that I didn't have to pay for it. My niece used to attend The Fantasy Playhouse and is friendly with some of the children who sing on this CD. I must admit that one or two of them have decent voices, but that rest are a total waste! The young girl that sings The song about the Jabberwocky is very talented, as are some others...However, the young ladies who sing Made by Hand, and Shadows on the wall should never be allowed in front of a microphone again! I don't mean to offend, but my ears almost started to bleed when I listened the first time. Please do not buy this CD if you want to hear well sung children's songs. Spend your money elsewhere, I beg of you!

this CD was not done properly alot of the songs were very porley recorded,my son has also worked at the theatre at which these shows are featured, the directors are untrained and are in it for the money, my son also informed me that that all of the children were fored to waive all rigths to money for this CD

the music stinks and so do the people who created it

This CD has wonderful music on it! I would suggeust that anybody looking for a gift for any age child should buy it. The origional songs have a varity of very catchy beats and tunes. All of the songs are sung by the talented young voices of the IJK (Its Just Kids) Club. It is encouraging, up-beat, and funny all at the same time. And the best part is, the CD includes stories that every child knows and loves, put to lyrics and music you've never heard before! My child loves it, and plays it quite often! He loves volume two just as much as the original, if not more! I would recommend this to everybody!
