A lost, overlooked gem!.......2004-01-20

This is one of those CDs {and one of those groups} that slipped under the radar. Released 14 years ago, 1990, "Psych Out" has aged well. The CD is strong, start to finish, with 11 sparkling, guitar-driven tunes that are melodic and hooky, but manage to "crunch" at the same time. The opener, "Welcome to Dead Town", sets the tone, and the fun continues all the way through track 11, "You Keep Me Praying." The guitar work is exceptionally strong.

Kind of reminds me of the Gigolo Aunts harder stuff, or Dramarama {think "Anything"}. Or perhaps the Sidewinders, Eleventh Dream Day, Sand Rubies, or the Smithereens {circa the "11" CD}, but with a touch of psychedelia thrown in, and more urgency! A CD full of guitar-driven, tuneful rock and roll, this one does not disappoint!

Basically,14 tracks from their 'proper' album releases.Makes for fine listening and all,but how many times can they put these tunes out?Most memorable cuts are "Roller Coaster","You're Gonna Miss Me","Kingdom Of Heaven","Levitation" and my personal favorite,the mind-lifting "She Lives In A Time Of Her Own".Obviously,aimed toward the 13th Floor completists.

ALO is the result of a musical partnership between keyboardist Zach Gill, guitarist Dan Lebowitz, and bassist Steve Adams, that began in a Santa Barbara middle school more than 14 years ago. And 'Fly Between Falls' is even better. If you want to check out longer 2 minute track samples, go to CDBaby and enjoy... Oh, and you'll be pleasantly surprised that they still have new copies for sale at the reasonable price of $10 (instead of the $99 Amazon seller price I saw listed here when I posted this review.)

Once you hear the music of ALO, you will be hooked. They have a great sound that will pull you in from the beginning. Get this cd, and all the rest of them.

Great New Band!!!!.......2006-04-09

I just came back from the Jack Johnson concert here in Rio and saw ALO live as the opening act. Their music blew me away (and everyone else around me). These guys rock and made the concert worth going to even before Jack Johnson stepped onto the stage. I highly recommend their music. They are incredibly talented.
