It would be almost impossible to improve on the passionate perfection of Mi Sangre, Juanes' third and most accomplished solo disc. Mi Sangre meets--and often exceeds--the glittering standards set by its predecessors. The album fuses the best elements of Juanes' previous works, Un Dia Normal and Fijate Bien, to create a collection that is exciting, energetic and thought-provoking. Lead-off single "Nada Valgo Sin Tu Amor" ("I'm Worthless Without Your Love") is a bittersweet mix of alternately hopeful and sad lyrics ("That's why I want your love, always strong in my mind/Even if we are far, or even if we are near, in the end") that could be a simple declaration of amor or a love letter from a war-time soldier. Social issues are highlighted throughout Mi Sangre, which finds Juanes directly addressing Colombian warfare. "What's happening in the world today," he asks amid the passionate rock rhythms of "Que Pasa," "that in all the dailies I read the same news of horror, lives that fall without reason?" Mi Sangre is a compulsive listen, with surprises at every turn. Juanes gets flirty during "Damelo," which finds him sizing up a potential lover; and "Para Tu Amor" is a swoon-inducing pop ballad that glitters with optimism. Producer Gustavo Santaolalla knows his way around the alt-rock world, having worked with Maldita Vecindad, Café Tacuba, Molotov, and Julieta Venegas. He co-produced Jaunes' previous albums, and the pair's synergy is nothing short of exceptional. "Tu Guardian," the album closer, is a sweet lullaby that seems tailor-made for Jaunes' eight-month-old daughter, Luna. I have heard only a couple of Juane's songs on the radio. I purchased this CD for the Nada Valgo Sin Tu Amor song. It was a pleasant blend of romantic, yet hip pop songs. He's got a very original sound. The beats and styles were interesting.

Juanes never ceases to amaze this is a wonderful collection of songs and with the added bonus of a few videos and interview you can't go wrong. This is a must buy for any Juanes fan and I highly recommend it!

Its really good... but not what I expected........2005-12-20

I'm a BIG fan of Juanes so obviously I'll say that its really good. But the truth is that this is the WHOLE "Mi Sangre" CD except for the live songs that he sings (which are really good), but like somebody else said, they should have released the CD with the DVD live, COMPLETELY, not just three songs. Oh well... If you buy it, I really hope u enjoy it as much as me.

P.S.: Juanes has a great voice and he really knows how to put a good show, so if you have a chance to go see him in concert, I recommend you do that, its worth it.

Why Not A Totally Live CD?.......2005-11-29

This limited "tour edition" is a re-issue of the "Mi Sangre" CD. If you already have the "Mi Sangre" CD, the only thing new that you'll get are seven extra songs and a DVD video. If you're a hardcore fan of Juanes, this might be a worthwhile purchase even if you already have the "Mi Sangre" CD.

I think labeling this CD as the "tour edition" is misleading. There are four "live" songs on this CD which are pretty good so I can't understand why they didn't release a completely "live" CD.

The three videos on the DVD are MTV-type music videos. Again, I would have preferred live footage from his concert.

Hopefully, the next time Juanes' label puts out a "tour edition," they'll make it 100% live.

Metal\Rock Masterpiece.......2007-01-16

Breed 77 delivers a breakthrough album. The album is incredibly musical and so different from what you might expect from a metal band. They have such a sound all of their own. I was blown away when I first heard this album and am still just as impressed listening to it now. What sets this apart from many other hard rock, metal, or whatever you would want to classify this as is it is so Interesting to listen to. There's nothing run of the mill about this. I know I'm rambling about it but it really is incredible from start to finish. This album has it all; attitude, emotion, style, passion, great guitar and instrumentation, and everything in-between. Overall check it out, its a kick-a** album.

Flamenco metal.......2006-10-03

What a breath of fresh metal air this is. The British Gibraltar lads have come up with a highly musical album that is as heavy as a charging bull; as gentle as a Spanish Senorita; as passionate as flamenco and as musically hot as the Andalucian sun. Mix heavy rock with flamenco and passionate melodic singing and 'In my blood' will be in your blood.
4 stars means a great album and five stars should only be used with totally ground-breaking albums such as Jimi's 'Electric Ladyland'.

Carreras in passionate mode.......2001-10-10

Recorded in 1994, this second album of Zarzuela arias features Carreras in good voice. It's not on a par with his first album of Zarzuelas, recorded back in 1977 for Philips, but there is plenty to enjoy here. The duet from El Gato Montes with soprano Isabel Rey has some exciting moments, and Carreras doesn't shrink from the high notes in this demanding piece.

One of the few disappointments on the CD is No Puede Ser, an aria that Carreras has sung magnificently in concert. Here he sounds tired and strained. It's a great shame that Carreras never recorded this aria in his prime.

The entire album abounds with High Bs and B Flats from Carreras, and in many instances Carreras sounds almost like the Jose of yore. He is never less than fully committed to his singing, something that his fellow tenors could learn from him. Not for Carreras is the bland technical approach of Pavarotti, nor the covered, nasal production favoured by Domingo. This is singing to remind listeners that Carreras was - and is - the vocal poet of his generation.

If at all possible, seek out the earlier Zarzuela album. It's a classic. In the meantime, this is an excellent introduction to the passion of Jose Carreras.

MIGUEL FLETA IS THE MOST INTERESTING TENOR I HAVE EVER HEARD. I ENJOY HIS ART FROM TIME TO TIME.

THE FIRST FIVE SELECTIONS ON THIS DISC CAPTURE HIS 18TH-19TH CENTURY VOCAL TECHNIQUE (later named bel canto)AT ITS BEST AND IT ENABLES HIM TO VARY NOT ONLY HIS DYNAMIC RANGE IN EXTREMES BUT ALSO HIS TONAL COLOR. HE HAS ASTOUNDING AGILITY. HE HAS A VERY LARGE VOICE STRONG ON THE TOP AND THE BOTTOM. HOWEVER, WHEN HE SINGS VERISMO AND FORTE, HE LOSES SOLIDITY AND INTONATION.

IT SEEMS THAT HE DID NOT PERFECT THE BEL CANTO TECHNIQUE WITH REGARD TO BREATHING AND HIS FABLED PIANI AND DIMINUENDI OFTEN SWITCH REGISTERS AUDIBLY AND WOBBLE THEIR WAY HOME. YET HE SINGS WITH GREAT HEART AND AFFECTINGLY.

this music is so spiritual and for every cuban in the world is a reminder of wht the visit of Juan pablo Segundo was to our nation.
I was living there in 1998, so I had the tremendous experience to feel the sensations of freedom that he brought to our country, so every cuban should read the lyrics and enjoy this beatiful music greatly performed.
