1. Dave Brock Interview [DVD]

Editorial Reviews

Product Description
This 2CD+DVD (PAL/Region 0) compilation first appeared in late 2003 and combines a selection of weird CD cuts with some from the Atomhenge 76 live album, and adds a 49-minute Dave Brock interview on DVD. This set comes nicely packaged providing the 3 discs in a handsome purplish box, adorned with some Rodney Matthews artwork. Each of the discs has a modern design printed onto it and comes in a slip cover that matches the box. There are also sleeve notes and a couple of illustrative photos of the band from 1976 (mislabeled as 1977). Recall. 2005.

3 out of 5 stars A Unique Album.......2003-07-05

I bought this album for the song `Plastic Dreams' and I was pleasantly surprised to get a 10-minute version. The rest of the tracks are sort of out there. They are not quite for listening and they are not for dancing except for the most avant-garde clubbers. The driving beat and trance like acid is nice on `Substance Abuse' by F.U.S.E. `No Limit' by 2 Unlimited is the most commercial track and this mix is a good one. All in all, this is a good album, but the track flow is a little to be desired. It was worth it for the extended mix of Plastic Dreams.'

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Decent.......2005-08-06

There are about four good songs on this album. The rest are not that good. However it does contain an excellent mix of Oxygene. That is an incredible song.

3 out of 5 stars SoundBASE???.......1999-07-18

I purchased this cd due to the SoundBASE three dimensional Stereo sound on this disc. I couldn't hear much of a difference.. And it didn't help that most of the tracks were quite forgettable. The only good tracks on here are Whatever Girl's "Activator" (remixed by Johnny Vicious - who also worked on Deborah Cox & Whitney Houston) and I Love Music (note for this track - it is called the "Fire Island Mix", but it is NOT remixed by Heller & Farley, who usually use the name Fire Island on their remixes, it is remixed by the Development Corporation - who have done remixes for Urban Cookie Collective & Haddaway). The rest of these songs are highly forgettable. Spend your money on something better.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD From the Early Days of Techno.......1999-07-17

If you like techno that you can actually listen to while not drunk then this is your CD. I highly recomend it.

    5 out of 5 stars Sublime Compilation.......2005-08-06

Half of the songs are really good. That is not a bad ratio for these Trance compilations. I really like some of the tracks here and am glad to have discovered this album. It holds its own in my sizeable trance collection.

4 out of 5 stars good compilation in a good series of compilations........1999-07-23

Welcome to the Future, Volume Four is a compilation of high-quality tracks in the ambient/techno genre. All of the tracks are good. Two are unlike anything I have ever heard.

4 out of 5 stars If you're looking to try something different.......1999-04-14

i was in a music store and wanted to buy some CD. i was already holding a copy of the soundtrack for Lock, Stock, and two Smoking Barrels (great sndtrk by the way). i was browsing around the techno section. i'm not a big fan of the category but i guess it depends on where it came from. anyways, so i'm browsing and this CD caught my eye - it said it had 3D sound quality. i thought that was cool and decided to try it out. well, despite the lack of 3D sound quality (maybe my stereo isn't equipped), i really liked the CD. its a bit mellow for what i thought techno music was about. i would even go as far as saying it was dream-like. if you like the techno version of x-files, then you'll like this CD.

    5 out of 5 stars Most excellent.......2000-06-29

This CD is quite a bit different than these guys first CD, but it is the same in that every single song is worth listening to. This CD is a little more mellow than the first, but is still very upbeat. This is one of my favorite albums, it just doesnt get old.

5 out of 5 stars Welcome To The Future.......2000-06-23

This is a most excellent album. I totally loved these guys first album, and thought this album is quite different I like it just as much. Every song is extremely good and yet they are all different. This is perhaps my favorite album, and I listen to a lot of Christain music. I don't know of any one who I have had listen to this album that didn't like it. Buy this one!

    1 out of 5 stars Disappointing sequel.......2000-05-20

I love believable picnic's debut self-titled album and bought welcome to the future on the strength of their first CD. I was so disappointed! The band's rock, beatlesque sound was trashed in favor of a tinny pop sound. The new album is ordinary and cheap sounding. Don't buy it!

    5 out of 5 stars Groovy Baby!.......1999-11-18

One word describes this CD: fun! It's just a fun album to listen to. It's one of the few CD's that I have that I can listen to straight through and love every song. The production is much better on this one then their self-titled. It doesn't sound like it was recorded in a garage.Oh, and if you get a chance to see these guys live, do it. I'll bet they put on a good show even without Zoltan! (Their former drummer and over-all madman)

        Album Description

"Welcome to the Planet " can be considered a great link in the revolution back to quality music by quality musicians.

Take Matchbox 20 and cross it with a little Lenny Kravitz, Prince, Chilli Peppers or even Steely Dan and you might have the basis for describing this new and refreshing pop sound.

        Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Soulful, Funky and Hip Rock.......2003-08-04

If you are the type of person that has been asking yourself, "where is the integrity in music today?" this is the album for you. I think my feelings for this album would be best expressed by quoting words first spoken by the brilliant artist Prince during last year's One Night Alone Tour, "real music, by real musicians, for real music lovers."

Not quite as fun as their first EP The Starcandy Incident, Welcome to the Planet is more mature and cohesive. Their new material is a little less glossy-pop and a little more brooding rock.

Don't get me wrong, the rhythm section is as funky as ever. Joe's drumming alone is reason enough to buy the album. The man is better than any drum machine on the market. There is not a single beat out of place; not one drum or cymbal is struck if it's not absolutely on time, in place, and absolutely necessary. Add unique, tastefully melodic bass lines in the league of Flea and Key Low and Hujo end up constructing the foundation for a band suitable for a downtown office high-rise. All the guitar and vocals have to do in not cloud the issue, and they don't.

The guitar and vocals add two more dynamic colors to the vibrant soundscape. The vocal melodies are clean and articulate and beautifully complement the rhythm section. The fact that you can understand every word the first time adds to the appeal. The vocals are emotive, sensitive and poignant.

Welcome to the Planet is chock full of soulful, funky and hip rock tunes that don't miss. Pop it in and just push play because you won't want to skip a single track. A true album, this is a collection of songs that complement each other well and flow from one song to the next.

        1 out of 5 stars One Word.......GARBAGE a total ZERO.......2000-12-11

Use the cd's for flying frisbies. That will be your only Space Ritual.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Sound Quality, Beware.......2000-07-01

The CDs in this collection sound so muffled that the music is barely audible. Save your money.

1 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy This CD collection.......1999-04-21

Save your money and get a better selection. Disc 1 is identical to Disc 4 and the quality of all discs is awful. It sounds like someone put a microphone up to an old record player and put it onto CD.
