      Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Very cool German guitarist.......2003-08-01

This debut disc from Germany's Rolf Munkes is very intriguing. His style is much more legato (a lot of hammer-on's and pull-off's) as opposed the sweeping and tapping or even straight-ahead alternate picking of many other guitarists. Rolf can still flatpick with the best of them, but you hear more legato and slurring from Rolf. With that said, Rolf's debut actually features several vocal tunes. Probably the most-talked about track on this disc is "Message in a Bottle". It's definitely got a hard rock vibe to it. While I think the vocals (from Lance King on this track only) are a little weak, the guitar playing is really fun and definitely a departure from the Police's original version. Overall, this CD is a quite enjoyable listen. And if you enjoy this, you may want to check out Empire, which features Rolf.
