Recorded at Joe Meek's Holloway Road studio, each 15 minute radio show featured a variety of classic Fury material (the ubiquitous 'Halfway To Paradise', 'Maybe Tomorrow'), alongside R&R standards ('Sweet Little Sixteen', 'Money Honey'), contemporary R&B numbers ('Unchain My Heart', 'Leave My Woman Alone') and a weekly Country spot ('You Win Again', 'Just Because'). Drawn from these historical broadcasts, The Sound Of Fury Luxembourg Sessions presents hitherto unissued rarities, many tracks were never commercially recorded by the artist, and, by way of a bonus, a selection of instrumentals performed by The Tornados. Disc 2 features Fury's original demo recordings for the groundbreaking Sound Of Fury LP, plus a half-dozen acetates he'd recorded earlier as a young Ronnie Wycherley. Castle Music. 2005.

Was expecting too much.......2007-07-02

After listening Farina's, Mushroom Jazz Vol2 and Mushroom Jazz Vol5, I now realize I was expecting way too much from this album. During the first listen, I recommend lowering the volume and play it as background music in the car or at your home. When I did this, the album grew on me and I began to appreciate and love the music for what it truly was.

It's a great work of art, but don't make the same mistake I did and expect too much. Just kick back, relax, and enjoy.

Farina is the Man.......2007-05-07

If you are in love with Mark Farina then this is a great disc to get. Nothing mind blowing, but definitely up to the usual high standards of Farina. If you are new to Farina this might not be the disc for you. I would recommend San Francisco Session Vol. 1 or the latest from his Mushroom Jazz series. That being said, this is still an excellent disc to own. Get your copy while you can.

I was afraid, but I'm not disappointed..........2006-07-21

Yes, I was afraid when I knew that Farina's next mix would be on "Ministry Of Sound"...a poor label in my opinion. I love what Farina did on OM Records, and I was afraid of discovering a COMMERCIAL Mark Farina. In fact, I was wrong, because his mix is great. Okay, not as great as Frisko Disko or San Francisco Sessions, but efficient. The mixing technique is solid, and the track selection is good. A lot of "unknown" house tracks, far from the mainstream crap.

And for DJs : Buy his "Bes Enatainment" vinyl on Great Lakes Audio!!! Masterpiece

From the tracklist alone, you can tell this CD is pretty hot. I like how he mixed it in oldschool mixtape style bridging both cds. That Jamanta track is pretty intense.

John Mcfee, Huey Lewis, Alex Call, JohnCiambotti, Jeff Porcaro, just to name a few of the talents on this master piece, This CD was originally recorded in 1975 at Sound City studio's in LA &never before released until now. Do you ever wonder what musicians whose work you've come to know were doing before you ever heard of them? Well, here's a chance to find out something about the Doobies' own John McFee, and his former band mate Huey Lewis. Sonic Past Music, a company that specializes in releasing just such products - for example, Richie Sambora's pre-Bon Jovi work, or Randy Meisner's non-Eagles material - has unearthed some "lost" recordings by the group Clover. As some of you may know, John and Huey, as well as "News" keyboard player Sean Hopper, were members of this group. On this set of recordings, you will also hear a young, pre-Toto Jeff Porcaro playing drums on several tracks. Additionally, the group features one Alex Call, who has written songs recorded by Pat Benatar, Huey, and others, including a huge hit for Tommy Tutone - "Jenny/867-5309". The recordings represented here were recorded at the famous Sound City Studios back in the early to mid seventies, with a number of the tracks produced by Keith Olsen - right around the time he produced Fleetwood Mac's huge self-titled breakout album - the one with "Rhiannon", "Over My Head", "Say You Love Me", and so forth. Subsequent to these recordings, Clover went on to release two albums of their own that they recorded in Britain with producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange, and were Elvis Costello's band for his award winning debut album My Aim Is True. If one was allowed to have only 10 CDs and no more, this would have to be one of them. The fresh, clean and raw talent of an early Allen Toussaint (circa late 1950's) cuts like a knife and makes any listener a lover of New Orleans/Toussaint music.

If you like rhythm and blues you will like this........1998-10-02

One can't not like this album. The only question is just how much you'll love it. This is very up-beat music. Maybe I should just tell you a true story that will indicate my love of Allen Toussaint's music.

I first heard "Whirlaway" in 1958 while lying in an Army hospital bed, very ill. I wanted that song and it took me 40 years of searching before I found it. Is that liking a song or what? I have it now and out of 27 tracks on this disc there isn't one I don't like.

This is "feel good" music with a piquant creole flavor that could only have come from New Orleans and a great talent like Allen Toussaint.

This mix is amazing! Pick this one up immediately if you are a trance fanatic. File in the same catagory as Sander Kleinenberg & Seb Fontaine, this cd will make you dance and it will get you lost in the mix. Some high octane synthesizers add to the beat on Ian Carey's Say What You Want. Plus there is a nine minute version of Guy Gerber's Stoppage Time. The whole mix is good and even both discs. Plus it has Sebastian Ingrosso remixes, who is one of the top 100 dj's to watch. He should come out with his own album soon enough. I might even pick up another Sessions album. This could be my favorite trance cd of year, and definitely a contender with ATB-Dj in the mix & Thrillseekers-Nightmusic.

this mix has almost all of the best cajmere green velvet songs with the exeption of the percolator, plus some other great tracks. I have been waiting for green velvet mix cd for a long time and my wish has finally come true.

Finally!.......2003-09-23

I've spent decades collecting Clarence's session work, and I've even managed to locate three or four of the LPs that contain the Bakersfield International work... but to hear these tracks sans dust and wear, in pristine fidelity- I'm in heaven! Hong Kong Hillbilly (Nashville West) clocks in at around two minutes but contains so much music that it seems hours long (and no, I haven't been smoking anything). Tango for a Sad Mood alone is worth the price of the Cd, and is quite simply one of the most beautiful guitar instrumentals I have ever heard. All of these tracks provide a rare glimpse of a genius at his day job, if you will.
The Forward from Michelle White Bledsoe is quite moving, and Alec Palao's liner notes beatifully evoke this transitional period. A long awaited treasure for this Byrdnyrd!

CD Fills a Major Gap.......2003-06-12

I've listened to pretty much everything Clarence White recorded. He did a lot in his 29 years, and I find all of it interesting. This fascinating release reveals a transitional 2-year period in Clarence's career as a studio guitarist that has been virtually unheard until now. To criticize "Tuff & Stringy" as a previous writer did is to miss the point entirely. These recordings will enlighten and entertain any Clarence fan except the terminally narrowminded. Considering that some of the tracks are informal studio demos and "idea sketches" from the mid-1960s, the technical quality is unexpectedly good. As for the music, it shouldn't be compared to the Byrds or the Kentucky Colonels. It's neither rock nor bluegrass. This CD fills a major gap, further documenting and demonstrating Clarence's broad musical interests and brilliance.

GREAT RARE CLARENCE!!.......2003-05-23

OK first off I'm biased- I helped with this CD on remastering and remixing some of the stuff that never saw the light of day- or was remixed in stereo, so I'm biased but , I must say I love it! I grew up watching the Kentucky Colonels on Sunday morning TV in LA!!
I mean -some of it isn't the best of Clarence White granted but, for most people who are just starting their Clarence White experience they will hear just how versatile he was and what was going on around him from 67 -72.
Even if you are a hard core Clarence fan this stuff is great! and I must say a lot of "love" and attention went into the remastering of these tracks when need be. Please don't be put off by this other review- and no I am not on the record company's (ACE) payroll-

A truly unsatisfying release obviously with no care taken in all aspects (performance, sound, etc.) to the great talent that was Clarence White. You are better off buying albums by the Byrds, Kentucky Colonels, Muleskinner that he performed with.
