Album Description

Scheduled for release in November 2004, "wait for your spring" features seven songs that showcase the diversity of Kelly's songwriting, from alt-pop anthems and intimate acoustic tracks, to dance mixes and driving ballads--such as the song Knee Deep, which won Honorable Mention in this year's Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Songwriter's Showcase. Understated yet powerful arrangements using acoustic guitars, live percussion looping and digital programming emphasize the strength of the songs and highlight Kelly's transcendent vocals. The EP was produced by longtime collaborator Jennifer "JJ" Jones, who added guitar and percussion. It was recorded in San Francisco at the studio of Jeff Steinmetz, a.k.a. DJ Kepi, a progressive-house music DJ and producer (Thump Radio, Red Eye Foundation). Kepi's talents inspired a remix of Kelly's song Recover, which has been tapped by LA's Thump Records for an upcoming dance-music compilation.

"Wait for your Spring" is a pleasure to listen to, and gets better each time you come back to it, sliding past the familiarity of the tunes and slipping deeper into the meanings. Brightwell is blessed with a naturally melodic vocal instrumentality, and JJ's backup guitar work complements it well. The cajun/country twang guitar on one of the songs brings an internal smile of surprise, and a bigger surprise is the final track, where hauntingly echoing refrains of Kelly's voice are perfectly blended with futuristic techno-dance thumping rhythms by DJ and producer Jeff "Kepi" Steinmetz of San Francisco. A very nice album

It's a good CD, more varied than the normally relentless (yet brilliant) Flying Rhino stuff...well produced, spartan and restrained, which is atypical of the usual Goa overload.

Atmos's Headcleaner album is one of my favourite Trance albums ever, along with KoxBox's The Great Unknown. This album too doesn't dissapoint. Though, I still have to dance to it. That's the way it usually is with Goa for me: I don't know if I really dig it till I've gone crazy to it :) But definitely worth getting. I also find it is very nice to listen to this music while I'm hacking!

DEEP.......2001-10-10

Sick, deep-lined trance at the core of a thinning, textually softer outline. Can't speak enough about number 7 - the epitomy of a the-over-used-but-still-alive "progressive" movement label. So deep and so well done I'll go through two stereos and ten discs before I might consider it "average".

For all those that don't understand Trance, are confused about the difference between "poppy stuff" and "commercial" works, dip a little deeper. Atmos has got a clue.

after his by now classic debut album *headcleaner*, comes more of the clean, crisp, and mesmerising nordic sounds, some unreleased, others having been allready released on various labels.

if you liked the first one, this one is not to be missed out ...
