Editorial Reviews
From the blistering back streets of Houston, Texas, to the demanding main streets of Manhattan, comes the unbridled solo debut EP of Antonio Estevan Huerta entitled Mused Here.
The seven-song CD, highlights Huertas passion with resonating vocals and timeless lyrics that ensure his stories will last well beyond tomorrow.
Mixing the best of folk, rock, punk, and soul, Mused Here takes listeners on Huertas influential journey from Americana to classic and southern rock, combining the essence of Dylan, Buckley, Bono, Seger, Mellencamp, and many others.
I believe in releasing the core existence of my music, through what I call the conviction of the execution, Huerta said.
This soulful rocker has honed his urgent expression of self since the age of 14. Born in 1972, Huerta began playing house parties in H-Towns predominantly Mexican Second Ward, writing and singing for hardcore punk band The Ugly Studs.
Huertas first touring venture came with Sister Moon, the critically acclaimed group formed with three high school friends in 1989 in Houston. The band relocated to Austin in the early 1990s, before calling it quits mid-decade.
From there, Huerta began to explore his solo voice, writing and travelling throughout North America and Europe, playing an occasional guest spot along the way. November 1999 marked his true outing with a raucous live performance at Brooklyns Pourhouse that will live forever in the minds of those present.
Fifteen years after playing his first chord, wiser, road savvy, and calling New York City home, Huerta has recently returned from his first nationwide tour in support of Mused Here. This, his third countrywide venture, featured Huerta on stage with Timbo of Speedbuggy, Sin Pelo, and singer/songwriter Mark Curry.
Huerta plans to spend much of 2002 on the road performing his aggressive, acoustic blend of heart, spirit and soul, pushing two tons of passion into a one pound bag.
