With a grandfatherly voice reminiscent of Burl Ives, Hap Palmer delivers another musical collection of healthful lessons geared toward the preschool set. The title song in this case refers lightheartedly to a question posed to the child participant in a lesson in distinguishing between fantasy and reality. Other songs focus on such topics as the recognition of colors, learning the days of the week, and understanding the concept of opposites. Engaging the child in participatory song and movement, Palmer's tranquil collection strives to teach, entertain, and occupy simultaneously. The liner notes include the lyrics and activity objectives for each song, which is helpful for a parent or preschool teacher when guiding children through the music. --Bryony AngellCustomer Reviews:
We love this CD.......2007-03-08
One of the best CD's in our child's collection.......2002-03-13
Simple, yet very powerful learning is going on here . . .my daughter really, really tunes in to this CD . . .I'm sure yours will too.
Stand out for my daughter are the Weekly Rap . .she likes it when they go really fast at the end . ..Can a Cherry Pie Wave Goodbye? and the Animal Quizes .. and her latest fav is the Opposites song. My fav is Pocketful of B's . .which I find myself sometime playing when the kids are not in the car! Egads!
Kids learn with every song!.......2000-03-19
They also LOVE the Weekly Rap...they literally (eek!) go nuts over it! Kudos to Hap, I will have to check out his others!
Hap Palmer has done it again!.......2000-03-13

Album Description
The hilarious Christine Lavin literally shines in live performance as she straps on a miner's headlamp and twirls her glowing batons. But the real sparkle comes from Lavin's sung and spoken wit - this singer-songwriter-guitarist regales and involves her fans with riotously acute original songs, comic monologues, quizzes, contests, and, in this case, her quest to identify Mr. Colorado Springs in the audience at the 2003 benefit concert captured on this CD."Sometimes Mother Really Does Know Best" is the award-winning Ms. Lavin's seventeenth album in a recording career that stretches back to 1981. Some songs here have appeared on her previous CDs, but never like this! One of Christine's signature compositions, "What Was I Thinking?," resurfaces with updated needling of Martha Stewart, while the affectionately rueful "You Look Pretty Good for Your Age" is wrapped around Christine's search for Mr. Colorado Springs. Five other favorites are captured "live" for the first time, including the tropical ordeal of "Wind Chimes and the anthem of the uncoordinated, "Ballad of a Ballgame." There are also three new songs here.
At least half the fun of this CD comes from Christine's giddy but incisively sarcastic song intros and a half-dozen comic monologues. "What kind of a ridiculous glamour trajectory am I on?" conveys her outrage at being mistaken for an ex-nun and a lunch lady; "Bernice, Carol, and tonight's crowd compete for the science prize" is a quiz that involves such brain teasers as "How many roads MUST a man walk down before they call him a man?"
Armed only with a guitar, a Boomerang sampling device that multiplies and delays her vocals into harmonies and swirling rounds, a wry, mocking self-awareness and boundless insight into contemporary culture, the Christine Lavin live experience is just as funny when heard at home, as preserved on this disc. Lighten up and laugh for almost 75 minutes!

Product Description
So who is Nightfoxx? He is none other than Clark Datchler, former lead singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist in the highly successful band of the late 1980s, Johnny Hates Jazz (Virgin Records). Nightfoxx is Clark s new recording artist name. And now comes the release of his brilliant new album, 'Tomorrow'. In 1987, Clark achieved worldwide success when his song 'Shattered Dreams' became a Johnny Hates Jazz top 5 hit across Europe and Asia, reaching number 2 in Japan. The following year it achieved number 1 status in the U.S.A. Other record releases followed, including several hits and a double platinum album, 'Turn Back The Clock'. The band achieved rapid success on an international scale, and to this day their recordings continue to be played all over the world. Clark left JHJ at the height of his fame, seeking to rediscover a deeper sense of purpose in his artistic work. In the 1990s, he began to draw on rock, folk, pop and world music for inspiration. In addition to his ability as a vocalist, pianist and guitarist, Clark became an accomplished bouzouki player and percussionist. Yet over the years, Clark Datchler has come to be regarded as an enigma by those who love his music, and there has been much speculation as to how and when he will return to the music scene. The journey of writing and recording the new album 'Tomorrow' has spanned many seasons and far reaching places, and as Nightfoxx, a new and extraordinary musical chapter has begun. The 12-track album contains 11 powerful new songs alongside a brand new, highly contemporary version of 'Shattered Dreams'. As well as playing the majority of the instruments on each track, Nightfoxx has invited some tremendous musical talents to appear on his new album. Among them are Phil Gould (drummer of Level 42), David Rhodes (guitarist with Peter Gabriel), Hugh Marsh (fiddle player with Loreena Mackennit) and James McNally (Irish whistle player with the Afro-Celts). If you are familiar with the past music of Nightfoxx, you will recognize on the album 'Tomorrow' his well-known talent for creating strong, memorable melodies. Yet you will also find that his music has truly evolved. 'Tomorrow' includes innovative arrangements, expansive instrumentation, contemporary grooves, powerful vocals and compelling lyrics. For those of you who are new to his music, we think you are about to discover what some are already calling a new sound for a new time. So welcome back, Clark Datchler a.k.a. Nightfoxx! Its about time!!!!Customer Reviews:
He's come back. Really wonderful album!.......2007-06-15
The famous song of JHJ times revived as 2006 version!!
It is still valuable song to be satisfied with "Clark's return".
The sound is simple but deep. When I listen to his singing, I feel like free from annoying daily life.
"The Raven"
This song is like up scale "Window".
It is likely to be used for movie. I realize that it was worthwhile waiting for more than ten years until his new release for only to have this song.

A stunning piece of work.......2004-03-11
Year: 2003
Record Label: A Records
Style: Contemporary Jazz
Review: North Light is confirmation that Boston-based guitarist Steven Kirby is one of the most gifted guitarists in jazz today. From the opening quick paced, quick witted "Line Game," Kirby makes it glowingly apparent that he is gifted with astute ears equal to his deft hands. His compositional skill is impressive and democratic, leaving room for each player to stretch. There are four separately identified lineups. The team of saxophonist Chris Potter, pianist Bruce Barth, acoustic bassist Scott Colley and drummer Matt Wilson contribute the opening composition, as well as "New Song" on which Barth opens with a pensive line that Kirby echoes. Potter steps in with an equally delicate tone that Kirby joins in tandem. A brilliant composition that is played with passion. There is more than a passing nod to Metheny throughout the disc, here and elsewhere. The same quintet takes "Paradigm Shift," with a New York sidewalks intense kind of tempo. The piece is most decidedly cinematic. Barth is particular stunning here and Potter and Kirby work a stuttering magic on the number.
The guitarist is joined by Bill Vint (saxophones), Mark Shilanski (piano and organ), Keala Kaumehelwa (acoustic bass) and Mike Connors (drums), with Laszlo Gardony taking the piano bench on "Refractions," one of the standout pieces on the session. Kirby takes stratospheric runs, without going over the top. Piano comps underneath and steps out for a superb solo, the bass jogs and drums propel under Phil Woods-ish saxophone runs. Well performed by all. On "Ambiguity Tolerance," Shilanski plays a funky organ, laying nice lines underneath and taking a nice solo turn. Kirby and Vint play tandem lines, something that apparently favors compositionally. The bass and drums are solid, solid, solid and Kirby is reminiscent of John Scofield in his fluidity. On "Five For All," organ is again highlighted with some of the most dazzling electric guitar work on the disc.
Trumpeter Tony D'Aveny is added to the above lineup for a Metheny-laden "Autumn Song," giving the lineup a slightly thicker collective tone.
D'Aveny switches to flugelhorn and joins drummer Mike Connors and bassist Scott Wilfong on the title cut, a delicate, well presented piece. He steps back out for "Things As They Are," a gorgeous number that Kirby dedicates to his mother. The guitarist plays acoustic and electric tracked with himself. This is a spellbinding, Jobim-like piece that benefits from a wonderful bass solo, as well. As impressive as the guitar work is here, it shines at its most brilliant on the solo guitar closer. "When You Wish Upon a Star" is played with technique and passion that is too infrequently heard from young guitarists.
Steven Kirby is a major talent. This is a stunning piece of music.

A Post-Bop Jewel.......2003-07-12
This approach can be a potential minefield. The utilization of different bands can create a loss of cohesiveness--an all important component of any music CD. Guitarist Kirby solves this problem with the continuity of his compositions--eight Michael Brecker-inspired, Pat Metheny tinctured post-bop jewels.
The set opens with what might be the highlight (but there's a lot of competition for that slot here): the crisp, jaunty swinger, "Line Game," which features the "highest profile" line-up on the disc: Chris Potter on sax; Bruce Barth, piano; Scott Colley, bass; and Matt Wilson, drums. These guys have high profiles--and fantastic recent releases in the cases of Wilson and Potter--for a reason. Talent. "Line Game" is a tight, in-the-groove sizzle; with pianist Barth doing a counterpoint, an almost Cecil Taylor free flung approach, a juxtaposition that glues the song together. And speaking of glue, check out Mark Shilansky's organ work on the funky "Ambiguity Tolerance". He, more than most organists, seems to bite his notes off, creating less of an aural wash, a more pungent backing that gives a nice sting to the sound, while leader Kirby puts a little grint into his normally free flowing lines, and some very sharp, tricky sax/guitar unison work. And "Paradigm Shift" evokes memories of Chick Corea's Electric Band of the late'80s/early '90s, full of spark and energy and forward momentum.
An exciting set of sounds, a mixing of styles held together by Steven Kirby's fluid guitar work and focused, forward-thinking musical vision.

Album Description
"Turns" is the latest relase under the G-Bop lable. Like the previosuly released "play Theray" and "Full Circle", "Turns" maintains the hard school of progresive improvisation and swing. The recording features Washington, DC musicians Rob Holmes and Kris Funn. "Turns" takes on a new identity..there is no chordal instrument on this date, only sax, bass and drums. The trio is tight, and fresh with energy. The performance is fresh with a sense of true emancipation!Rock Music:
