Feist is the solo project of Canada's Leslie Feist, a prolific artist who has also played in one capacity or another with Broken Social Scene, Kings of Convenience and half a dozen other bands. The Reminder, her third release, comes from the same well of quiet, appealing songwriting, and delicate vocalizations that made 2004's Let It Die such a sweet treat. This one is a bit more hushed and ballad heavy, closer to Cat Power than Peaches (with whom Feist has also worked with in the past) but maintains an indie-minded blend of confessional pop, jazzy folk, and lo-fi torch songs. The comparatively upbeat single "My Moon My Man" splits her voice off into unexpected harmonies, just dissonant enough to stick in your head. It's hard to predict where her melodies are going to end up; "Brandy Alexander" starts with a simple snap-pulse, and gradually unfolds into a cathartic chorus of sweeping vocal overlays. Throughout, the record profits from a simple, unfussy aesthetic that keeps the production minimal and the emphasis squarely on Feist's cracking, wistful vibrato. Everything sounds deliberate, but not obsessed over, like an e-mailed wedding invitation. It's a low-pressure vibe, welcoming and content to linger. And linger you will. --Matthew CookeCustomer Reviews:

There's nothing terribly complicated about the Fratellis' debut album, Costello Music, but that's by no means a criticism. Rather than inject their songs with complex chords, or steep their lyrics with their political and social agendas, this Glasgow trio have instead focussed on writing 13 songs that are pure, unabashed entertainment. And it's a pace--and an attitude--that doesn't let up, from the jumpy opening bars of "Henrietta" to the groupie-reminiscing of "Ole Black'n'Blue Eyes". In many ways, Costello Music sounds like a return to the hedonistic rush of early 1990s Britpop, with its exhilarating guitar riffs and arrogant swagger--"Chelsea Dagger" somehow applies the attitude of early Oasis to the pop catchiness of Great Escape-era Blur. But the Fratellis also know their history: the ska-punk of "Cuntry Boys & City Girls" and "For the Girl" has the Fratellis sounding like the cheeky offspring of the Clash, or a less-irritating Madness. But all this analysis kind of misses the point of Costello Music: this is music for dancing, not for contemplation. It's loud, fast and in-your-face, exactly what you'd expect from three young men with guitars. --Ted KordCustomer Reviews:
Didn't see this coming!.......2007-07-15
Other than the main hits such as Chelsea Dagger and Flathead- this album is full of amazing song. Nothing short of a must buy if you like indie or pop; or if you were like me, looking to lighten up your atmosphere. And that's exactly what this does- it just makes you happy; makes you want to dance even if you can't.
Every song is filled with an incredible rhythm, ranging from mosh pit punk to bob your head and go with the flow. Songs such as Henrietta and Whistle for the Choir are full of constantly changing riffs, so you can't expect what to hear next. So it never gets old.
The lyrics are quite interesting, the way he tells his stories are such that you can just close your eyes and watch the colors dance when you're feeling down or getting you and your friends amped for the trip to the game. One thing i should address for the parents is the cover art, it can seem slightly provocative- but nothing more than you'd see openly on TV nowadays.
Ok, so if this whole makes less than any sense to you- lemme just sum it up into one sentence.
"You will not regret this buy!"
THIS is my summer album.......2007-07-01
That's certainly not the case here. This is the very, very rare album that's actually worth buying. There's not a bad track on here. When's the last time you said that about a CD? Buy it... you will not be sorry!

Once upon a time in Los Angeles--during the infamous mid-'80s Guns N' Roses era--the City of Angels was spewing forth dirty, blues-influenced rock bands. Little Caesar, Junkyard, the Hangmen--even the names were redolent of dirty rock & roll, Harleys, and barroom brawls. A new breed of rebel rock has emerged in Buckcherry--sober, tattooed blues-metallers whose charismatic singer, Josh Todd, boasts a compelling Iggy Pop-Jim Morrison-Axl Rose persona. Buckcherry's 12-track debut album, produced by Terry Date (Pantera) with coproduction from former Sex Pistol Steve Jones, kicks off with the nasty, aggressive groove of "Lit Up." While the song is irresistible, many might have a problem with the "I love the cocaine" chorus. Still, Todd's persona works well with the band's aggro, melodic stomp, and with bands such as the Black Crowes, Nashville Pussy, and Honky Toast keeping barroom rock alive, Buckcherry are a ballsy and bold entry into the fray, as suited to share a stage with Hanoi Rocks as they would be with Motörhead. --Katherine TurmanCustomer Reviews:

What A Start.......2006-08-02
What a beautiful beginning. Buckcherry are the best straight up rock and roll band around today, there is no disputing that. The band seems to get better with each album because this, the bands first and self-titled release is a far cry from their recent third album, 15. What Buckcherry did here on their first album was fuse the styles of their idols like Guns N' Roses and Aerosmith with bluesy grooves and soulful vocals. Boy do they do that well. To really serve this album full justice one would have to listen to it, as you would with all of the bands albums. While this isn't as good as the bands later releases it is still a good solid album.
Joshua Todd's vocals are phenomenal. It's the only word that comes to mind. Full of passion and angst. His lyrics at this point struggled a little bit for maturity but were great rock and roll lyrics none the less. The man is the prototypical front-man for this generation of rock lovers. Keith Neilson is one of the strongest guitar players around. He knows exactly what to play and what not to play and more importantly when to play it. This album was before they added second guitarist Steve D. The rhythm section is nice and strong here but was replaced after the release of this album with a new drummer and bass player. But the point is the musicianship on this debut is of the quality of a veteran band.
The album opens with what is the bands best song and what I believe will go down as the bands signature song, `Lit Up.' It's perfectly arranged with awesome guitar nice vocals, and a killer chorus that reads "I love the cocaine, I love the cocaine." This is one killer song that should be heard by all and Im guessing if your thinking about buying this album this song is part of the reason why. `Crushed' is a great song. One of the strongest songs on the album, simply subject, rock and roll. `Dead Again' is a fast paced rocker with hard driving drums but does grow old after a few listens. `Check Your Head' is just boring while `Dirty Mind' is a killer and one of the better songs on the album. `For The Movies' is slower but still a good song, much better then `Check Your Head.' `Lawless And Lulu' is fantastic. A real good rocker that everyone will enjoy. `Related' can get a little old after a while but is still a really great song. `Borderline' is a nice change of pace in that it is a slower bluesy song. Very cool and contains a really good groove. `Get Back' and `Baby' are awesome, both are heavy rockers that contain great guitar through and through. The album ends great, couldn't have been done any better. `Drink The Water' is a killer rocker with great guitar and cool vocals. The slide guitar by Neilson is fantastic and really adds to the song. The songs ends the album with a bang, leaving you wanting more Buckcherry, which is exactly what the last song on the album should leave you wanting.
So while Buckcherry is not as good as Time Bomb, or 15, it is still a very good album that is sure to please any real rock fan. Besides this album really does have something for all music fans no matter the genre. So do yourself a favor and pick up Buckcherry. Highly Recommended.

Album Description
On this debut album from Kentucky born BLACK STONE CHERRY you can hear their influences including Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Black Sabbath, but also a heavy side touching more in a Black Label Society vein. The track "Lonely Train" is gaining traction at radio. The track is produced by Richard Young of the Kentucky Headhunters, who is also the father of drummer John Fred Young. With songs about moonshine smuggling, rain wizards and women, how can you go wrong?Customer Reviews:
Rocks Right Out of the Gate.......2007-05-29
There's something both new and familiar about their sound; influences definitely worn on their sleeves but a great modern edge too.
These guys have written a very mature sounding album, full of great hooks, melodies and a monster wall of guitars.
Early highlights for me include 'Maybe Someday' and 'Lonely Train' but you could pick this album up at any point and find a killer track.
Production-wise, it's nice and straightforward; you get drums, bass, guitars and vocals - and lots of 'em. Great mix, very direct and sounds like something that could be really great live.
I hope there's lots more like this in them.
Highly recommended.

Goldfrapp's Black Cherry inhabits a dark alley, bristling with urban menace and throbbing with a deep electronic pulse--a far cry from their breezy debut, which gently led the listener to a fairytale aural utopia occupied by Parisian pop, whistling divas and baroque masters. Having given up the countryside for a neon-lit studio, Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory have infused Black Cherry with an intensity and brooding claustrophobia that's both exuberant and sensual. Simultaneously mellifluous and mechanical, tracks such as "Train," with its fiery industrial rhythm, steer Goldfrapp dangerously close to the ailing electro-clash scene, before veering back to more familiar territory with the likes of the sultry, downbeat "Black Cherry" and languid dreamy ambience of "Forever." Elsewhere our Hampshire-bred heroine gets deep down and dirty on "Twist," an ode to oral that finds Goldfrapp waxing lyrical to a fierce driving Kraftewerk-esque synth. No Felt Mountain to get lost in, but at least there's "Hairy Trees" to make up for it. --Christopher BarrettAlbum Description

But, it was lacking a little. "Mister White Keys", "When I Change Your Mind", and "Come Back to Me" were't the greatest tracks I've heard. I didn't care for them.
It could have also been a little longer. I would have liked to have seen "Irish Whiskey", "Suicide Kings", and "We'll Always Have Paris" on there. =)
To me, it just doesn't qualify as a Greatest Hits album for this. It's good, but not for a Greatest Hits album.

Calling this one of Prince's most interesting albums doesn't do justice to how kicky and playable it is. The soundtrack from his failed romantic comedy Under the Cherry Moon, the disc often sounds like a preview of the supremely surefooted quirkiness of its follow-up, the classic Sign o' the Times. Marrying lean funk grooves to over-the-top orchestrations and trying his hand at Parisian balladry and a hushed, Pet Sounds-style instrumental, he triumphs as few other record makers did in 1986. --Rickey WrightCustomer Reviews:

Damn, do I miss the Revolution.
I can't stop listening to this one.......2006-01-19
Artistic Parade.......2005-12-19
Parade is his most diverse sounding CD, yet is the most cohesive of his eighties releases. The songs flow from one to the other smoothly(tracks 1-4), which is the best use of segues between songs that I have ever heard on record, even the abrupt changes don't disrupt the flow. The CD covers so many different moods and styles but all songs fit into place, including the hit 'Kiss', that Tom Jones later completely destroys. To say Prince was experimenting with different styles is an understatement. He takes the overall influence of French themes, related to the movie of course, and incorporates them into his style. The French flavor is there as a supplement, not as the overall influence which makes this recording even more unique and one of his finest. Lisa and Wendy stand out on this record as well with some great background instrumentation and voice. The record is perfect and the sound is crisp and clear... not for the casual pop music listener.
And concerning the movie; it is a very funny take on early movies from the 40s & 50s. Prince & Jerome display a cool chemistry as best friends. However, if you do not know the style or are familiar with Black & white comedies from the early years of film, then you didn't get the point of the film, especially in the mid-80s; hence all the negative comments.
Prince's Parade Is a Good One.......2005-12-02
First song "Christopher Tracy's Parade" feel like it should have been on the last album, it picks up where "Around the World" left off. Great instruments used here. It's kind of like Prince's answer to Beatles "Sgt Pepper". "New Position" is considerably funkier, it's also about sex which is unique on this album where Prince deals with far more "important" issues then his sexual fantasies. The way he says "Honey" in the beginning on the song is awesome. The next song "I Wonder You" is short, he actually doesn't appear here, but his band sings the few lyrics. "Under the Cherry Moon" is a slow paced piano ballad. It was also the name of his movie. "Girls & Boys" feautures horns which makes up the song. There is some talking in French on this song. Sheila E Appears on the next song "Life Can Be So Nice" It's a funky uptempo song for a change.
"Venus de Milo" is instrumental, the title derives from Ancient Greek sculpture of the same name that is available on Louvren in Paris. "Mountains" is also funky uptempo that Prince is so good at. "It's only mountains and the sea, There's nothing greater, u and me". "Do U Lie" is a slow paced jazzy song again. Then comes "Kiss", the big hit from this album! I agree with those that said that it doesn't fit here compared to the rest of the songs. However it was just Kiss that was this album's biggest hit single. "Anotherloverholenyohead" is a midtempo melancholy song, takes the price for oddest name. "Sometimes it Snows In April" is a piano ballad, that closes this album well. Almost 7 minutes.
Overall, A melancholy album that is also atleast half-psychedelic. Apart from his previous album, many songs are slow paced here, it's also considerably funkier then "Around the World". It doesn't have as many highlights but it's a very solid album, very well suited for the movie it became soundtrack for.

This reunion of singer-songwriters Rodney Crowell and Vince Gill with pianist Tony Brown, ace guitarist Richard Bennett, and steel guitarist Hank DeVito sounds like the country equivalent of the Traveling Wilburys--a veteran supergroup having too much fun to take itself too seriously. Alumni of Emmylou Harris's Hot Band, the Cherry Bombs were Crowell's backing band in the '70s. Since then, Gill has become a star, Brown has become better known as a label executive, and Bennett has seen considerable demand as a producer. Starting with a call to loosen up on "Let It Go, Let It Ride," the album shows a spirit of playful camaraderie. It's tough to imagine either Crowell or Gill putting a cut titled "It's Hard to Kiss the Lips at Night That Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long" on one of their own albums, but the collaboration here is a honky-tonk highlight. DeVito remains the band's secret songwriting weapon, as "Wait a Minute" (in collaboration with Crowell) and a revival of "Sweet Little Lisa" (previously recorded by Dave Edmunds) capture the exhilaration of early rock & roll. A former gospel pianist, Brown adds revivalist preaching to this busmen's holiday. --Don McLeeseCustomer Reviews:
Mostly fizzle, little sizzle.......2006-10-03
HIGHLIGHTS:
For the most part the songs that veer farthest afield of honky-tonk fare best. "Wait a Minute"'s call for forgiveness in the midst of relationship strife is a bit lightweight (Gill had a much better take on it with "Gimme Just One More Last Chance") but catchy and hummable, sounding not unlike a Traveling Wilburys outtake with just a dash of Tex-Mex influence. "Oklahoma Dust" is clearly a Buck Owens' homage and a well-done one as guitarist Bennett does his best Don Rich impersonation. The sole exception to the 'fast songs are best' rule here is jokey weeper "It's Hard to Kiss the Lips at Night that Chew Your A** Out all Day Long". The hook is so clever and undeniable that it escapes the stupidity in the use of the phrase "disses" from someone Gill's and Crowell's age.
LOWS:
"If I Ever Break Your Heart" is a dull string of cliches every bit as yawn-inducing as the latest Nashville assembly line hat act number.
BOTTOM LINE:
It only really catches fire thrice...far from enough to justify purchasing this dud.
