Punk rock is meant to be played loud and snotty. Blink 182 are a San Diego punk rock threesome whose interest in arrested development has led them to a sparkling array of sex jokes that cover everything from anal sex to masturbation to... Well, you get the idea--and that's just the between-song banter. This limited-edition live collection--a holding pattern until the band's fifth studio album is released in 2001--features a slam-dunk collection of the band's hits, fan favorites from their various studio albums, and new tunes ("Blew Job" among the enlightened tracks). One additional studio track, "Man Overboard" (already a hit on a radio near you), packs a harder punch than most, thanks to the studio finesse. But mostly these are revved-up versions of songs to break a skateboard by. With the added appeal of a color booklet and about seven minutes of "stage banter" tacked on at the end, guaranteed to either leave you in stitches or have you grounded for a month. --Rob O'ConnorAlbum Description

juvenile humor...makes me feel like a juvenile - hooray!.......2007-07-17
See, I went to the Mark Tom and Travis show concert just after Enema of the State was released, and this album brings back some good memories. The Jr. High humour is unrelenting and hillarious! I did, however, feel very awkward at the concert for all of the teens with their parents with them... this isn't the kind of thing that you take your parents to (the parental advisory sticker is well deserved), but rather the kind of thing that you share with all of your friends. This album is tops. It took me ages to find it at a good price (some people wanted $50 for it!!!!) cuz it isn't that well-known. But trust me, if you like Blink's older stuff (Dude Ranch and Cheshire Cat) like the Depends song and Ben Wa Balls etc, then this is the album is right up your alley! And if you're not familiar with those albums, well, get them too. They're classic and completely light-hearted. Anyhow, enjoy this album!

Album Description
This greatest-hits collection spans the short career of one of pop-punk's most celebrated outfits, blink-182. The album features tracks from their 1994 debut Buddha through to the more experimental final album, 2003's blink-182. The album serves as a perfect introduction into the band's hook-driven pop-punk which has always involved a large dose of frat-boy toilet humor.Customer Reviews:

On their 1997 release, Dude Ranch, juvenile hardcore-pop band Blink 182 tickled the funny bone with an assortment of dumb sex jokes, off-color artwork, and between-song skits, including one of a dog drinking from a freshly peed in toilet. So, two years down the road, have the band matured at all? One look at the cover of Enema of the State, which features cover art of a tarted-up blonde nurse donning a rubber glove, provides the easy answer. Fortunately, Enema supports the humor with strong musicianship. The songs are more dynamic and multitempoed than those on Dude Ranch, sounding like a cross between the Descendents and Fountains of Wayne. And unlike the glut of alt-rock releases that offer one or two memorable songs, Enema is flush with instantly memorable melodies and ear-pleasing harmonies. Good, dirty fun--no more, no less. --Jon WiederhornCustomer Reviews:
Blink 182 knew what they are doing........2006-12-29
Absolute pop-punk classic.......2006-09-25
Enema of The State is now considered a rock classic. From beginning to end, its one of the catchiest, most energetic, melodic, and loudest records ever. The lyrics range from hilarious (The Party Song) to heartfelt (Going Away To College), to a combination of both (Anthem).
Tom's powerchords are the loudest and crunchiest I've ever heard on a pop album, and his lead riffs are some of the simplelest but catchiest I've ever heard, and come on- what kid starting to learn guitar nowadays doesn't try to learn Adam's Song? Vocally his bratty voice fits songs perfect with him taking over the vocals on songs such as Dumpweed, Aliens Exist, Dysentary Gary, All The Small Things, Mutt, and Anthem. Mark plays bass very simply, but his tone is very clean and complements guitar and drums very well. His fills in the bridge of What's My Age Again? are perfect as well. Vocally Mark has a cleaner voice than Tom, which works well on the songs he sings- Don't Leave Me, Going Away To College, What's My Age Again, Adam's Song, The Party Song, and Wendy Clear. That brings us to Travis- but what hasn't been said about this guy already? He's f-ing amazing! His beats are incredibly fast and his fills are timed and calculated spot on. He's definetly got to be one of the greatest drummers of all time.
This record is just a straight up classic. Look at so many of the popular rock bands that emerged in the 2000's- Sum 41, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Yellowcard, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco... Would any of these bands have been able to achieve so much popularity if blink hadn't kicked the doors of pop-punk wide open? I think not. So whether your just chilling in your room, going on a road trip, or having a pool party- throw this record on and rock out, because it's perfect.

Their formula is simple enough--equal parts teenage humor and brattiness combined with infectious guitar hooks that just beg to be cranked up on the stereo. But with Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, the guys in Blink 182 may have delivered their best album to date, a punk-pop fusion that's so consistent you'll wonder which of the 13 tracks will become radio hits (any has the chance, really). Yes, as with Dude Ranch and Enema of the State, the songs here revolve around falling in love ("The Rock Show," "First Date"), falling out of love ("Online Songs," "Happy Holidays, You Bastard"), and plenty of other ways to kill time while away from school ("Reckless Abandon"). And yes, these guitar-driven songs all pretty much sound the same, but Take Off never gets boring. There's too much nervous energy here, too many slight variations in the arrangements, and too many hilarious lyrics that you won't want to miss. Parents may remember that the Buzzcocks used this same shtick in the late '70s, older siblings may remember that Green Day did it well not so many years ago, but Blink fans know that their band is more clever than anyone else playing today. The bonus tracks are throwaways, but that's OK--the threesome have given us plenty to bop our heads to here. --Jason VerlindeCustomer Reviews:

Information for the haters........2007-05-02
Blink never wanted to be taken seriously as a band.
They wholeheartedly intended to be a joke, an immature band.
You can't hold their purpose against them.
And as for saying they are not punk.
Blink 182 didn't christen themselves as punk.
It was the stupid fans who did that.
Anyone who knows music knows that real punk existed in the 60's, the dawning of the Punk Movement.
Don't blame that on the band either.
We all know that Tom Delonge cannot play the guitar.
But you have to admit that Mark is a pretty decent bassist.
And to say that Travis Barker is a mediocre drummer, is lying through your teeth.
You are supposed to take Blink's music for what it is.
It is supposed to be taking light-heartedly.
You are supposed to laugh at the sheer mediocrity of it.
If you can't be immature enough for a few seconds to embrace that reaction, then it is yout own fault and not the band's.
Great CD.......2007-04-21
Anthem Part 2: Love the drum line. Personally i prefer Enema's Anthem part one, but I still love this song. 10/10
Online Songs: short and sweet. very fast 8/10
First Date: This got overplayed unfortunately, and it got tiring. I still love the song though. 8.5/10
Happy Holidays: Hilarious song...not surprisingly, my parents abhor it.
Story...: Love LOve LOOVE this song...second favorite on the cd. 10.5/10
Rock Show: Good song...one of the less interesting. 8/10
Kids: Powerful guitars/lyrics/vocals. Very emotional song. 8.5/10
Rollercoaster: One of the best Travis Barker lines on the cd. 9/10
Reckless Abandon: FUNNY SONG...one of my favorites! 10/10
Everytime: Good drumming from Travis. 9/10
Give Me One Good Reason: I love this song the most on this cd! I love the lyrics, the guitar, the drumming, the vocals...EVERYTHING FLOWS! 15/10
Shut Up- ANGRY song...Sounds a lot like roller coaster actually. 8/10
Please Take Me Home: Good closer. 9/10
To the reviewer a couple reviws below me: We're not trying to bash/dehumanize you, we're just giving you our opinions. But you showed no class in the way you expressed your opinion. It's kinda funny that you call blink "whiny" and "immature" when really, you are much worse.
Oh and NEVER compare blink-182 to K-Fed, because not only do you sound immature, you sound pretty freakin' stupid. And you owe Tammy Peterson an apology for your little 'note' there. SO uncalled for.
Why the hate?.......2007-03-14
A Kid's Review
I love this CD and I wish Blink hadn't have split up. I'll start by saying I don't think Tom is the best singer in the world (the studio makes him sound good, but live he's pretty awful), nor do I think he's a particularly talented guitarist. Now with that said, I will say I thoroughly enjoyed this record. Best songs include Anthem Pt. 2, First Date, Rock Show, Stay Together For The Kids, Story Of A Lonely Guy, and What Went Wrong. You can't compare Mark, Tom, and Travis's latest efforts to Blink... they've both gone in different directions. However, I will say that I would chose Blink over +44 or AVA anyday.
I do recommend this CD to people who LIKE this kind of music. I really get fed up of people reviewing a CD of a pop-punk band, clearly stating that it is is a load of rubbish, and then telling people to go and listen to Bon Jovi instead... not that I have anything against Bon Jovi.
Grow Up........2007-02-01
My goodness. I can't believe this band was as popular as they were. They weren't good whatsoever. I am also a little annoyed by the people who like to bash and dehumanize reviewers who give this album 1 star. It's called expressing your opinion, [...]. As for "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" it is lame. Have you even heard the lead singers, especially Tom. Good lord, I have never heard such whining and more annoying voice in my life. He can't sing, IMO. Also, how 'bout the guitar riffs? All it is is a bunch of power chords. It sounds like they use the same chords for almost every song on here. Not to mention, the lyrics. These lyrics are incredibly juvenile and immature. Seriously, "Happy Holidays". Hey man, these lyrics are so bad their not even close to shocking (I assume that's why they wrote it).
It is sickening to think that a band like this one and Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Fall-Out Boy, Paris Hilton, K-fed, etc. enjoy more success and fortune than most actually talented people will ever receive in a lifetime.
Overall, I hated this album and the band; 0 stars. I don't recommend this album to anybody who appreciates good music. Also, a little note to Ms. Tammy Peterson. I have an opinion just like anyone else. You can't stand that somebody actually doesn't like the bands you like. My advice is keep your opinions to yourself if you can't say anything better than that. You talk about constructive criticism and respectful opinions, yet look at your comment. You f***in' hypocrite. Take your "respect" and shove it up your a.. You f***ing sellout. F*** You.

Terrific sales of their independent Cheshire Cat got Blink-182 signed to a major label (MCA) for 1997's Dude Ranch, which led to radio hits ("Dammit," "Josie") and platinum sales. No "sell-out" on the band's part, though, as Dude Ranch simply features another infectious collection of snotty vocals, punchy rhythms, vivid lyrics, and aggressive chords. San Diego producer Mark Trombino shines some of the scuffed edges, but this is still good ol' Blink at its sunny, effervescent best. Nice "emocore" spoof here ("Emo"), plus an odd knack for crafting bass-lines that recall--seriously!--New Order, and vocal harmonies that owe debts to the Beach Boys. --Mark WoodliefCustomer Reviews:

While Blink-182's pop-punk has given more than its share of entertaining moments over their career, "sonic experimentation" is hardly what you'd expect from their sixth studio album. Within their guitar-bass-drums template, however, they offer moments of playfulness and lyricism that stretch their definition of sound. The tempo changes and uses of (relative) silence in "Violence" and "Stockholm Syndrome" borrow post-punk conventions, and lend a new feel to the band's trademark cranked-upness. (The use of treated piano on the latter song also suggests that they've bent an ear to a few psychedelic-pop classics in their time.) As with 2001's Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, a theme of loneliness emerges upon the first couple of listens, but this time it feels as if Blink wants to connect it to something larger than before. Growth from the guys who once jokingly celebrated man-on-dog intercourse? Yeah. And best of all, it's worth hearing. --Rickey WrightCustomer Reviews:
Best Blink CD.......2007-05-31
The Best blink-182 CD ever made!.......2007-03-06
1. Feeling This (10/10) This song is simply great. Hoppus and Delonge's lyrics are different but relate to each other, coming together for an energetic, catchy song.
2. Obvious (7/10) This is an interesting song, Delonge does all of the singing. The middle of the song changes tempo with a great bridge, lyrics are good.
3. I Miss You (10/10) Once again, Hoppus and Delonge harmonize greatly in this song. The chorus features Tom singing with Mark in the backround, and a beautiful piano outro completes the song.
4. Violence (8/10) Probably the darkest song blink-182 ever wrote. Kind of scary, even, but an overall good song.
5. Stockholm Syndrome (7/10) A fast paced, somewhat catchy song, a lot of emotion and distortion in this song.
6. Down (7/10) Good lyrics, meaningful song, but a big time downer, too depressing for me sometimes. It still stuck in my head for awhile when I first heard it though. The outro leads beautifully into the next track.
7. The Fallen Interlude (6/10) An instrumental song, dark and moody. It can be looked at as sort of a rap beat. It's Ok.
8. Go (7/10) As Delonge says, this song deserves to be playted really loud. Very fast, punkish song.
9. Asthenia (8/10) Look up the word Asthenia to see what this song is about. Quite cathcy, the intro is about 50 seconds long and features real NASA transmissions and radio voices. It's rad.
10. Always (10/10) Awesome song, one of the best on the album. Deep lyrics, and upbeat. Delonge sings his heart out in this one.
11. Easy Target (6/10) I didn't reall like this song as much as the others, though it is still Ok. Kind of feels like it drags on a bit.
12. All Of This (5/10) Surprise! Robert Smith of The Cure is a guest vocalist in this song. It is a continuation of the previous track. Unfortunately I don't like Smith's monotonous voice and this song isn't great.
13. Here's Your Letter (7/10) This song is just Ok. I don't really know why it's on the album, probably just a filler song. It could be better.
14. I'm Lost Without You (9/10) The album finishes strong with this song. I love it. Six, minutes long and very emotional. Finishes with a really cool drum solo.
Overall this CD is great, however if you are a fan of old school blink-182 this isn't for you. I'd defininely recommend it, as it is one of the best CDs, if the not THE BEST in my collection.
This.........2007-01-31
This whole album is a bunch of whining its horrible his voice bothers me(I listen to Rush and Coheed and Cambria!)
I loved them when they were funny.
If they could make good serious music I'd love them now.
so unfortunate
Terrible........2007-01-23
Pathetic is a better word to describe it. I am so glad that Blink-182 is through. They finally wore out their welcome in the music industry. When a band that sucks as much as this one, it's only a matter of time before people realize that they do. Blink sucks and always has. No hard feelings to the fans(not).
Anyways, back to this pathetic excuse for an album. The idea that they were going to try to be serious this time around was very laughable. All I can do when I hear songs from this album is laugh. It also saps me of all my energy and gives me a headache. That's why I try to avoid their songs at all cost. Let me tell you why I hate this album:
The lead-off single is absolutely horrific called "Feeling This." What a bunch of immature imbeciles. Here's some of the lyrics:
Show me the bathroom floor
Show me the way to bed
I want to take off her clothes
Disgusting! This is lame frat boy crap is what this is. And I don't care if these aren't the exact lyrics. You got a problem, deal with it. Also, another song on hear that makes me want to break the stereo. That one is called "I Miss You." I can't remember when I have ever heard such whining before. I absolutely hate Tom's voice. How can a man in his thirties' sound this immature and whiny. Btw, he can't sing to save his life to all you sissies who think he's so talented. Hate to break it to all you Blink fans, but they never were good or were even close to it. If you want real musical talent try bands like U2, Metallica, Daughtry, 10 Years, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Alice In Chains, Tool, etc.
One more mention of a track on here: "Down." Terrible song, terrible riffs, and ridiculously adolescent lyrics. So, as I said, Blink-182 is horrible and will always be remembered as such. Thank the Lord they are done. I was extactic when I heard the news. This band was/is for adolescent kids/young adults who have nothing better to do than whine and complain about how much their lives suck. Hey idiots, grow up and shut up! You spoiled, ungrateful brats.

Their Last Album.......2007-01-21
On track 12 "All of this" has Robert Smith (The Cure) singing and Tom Delonge singing in the background.A lot of people don't know that and think that it's Mark singing but it's not.
Unfortunantly the bands last album.Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus are now doing +44 and Tom Delonge is now doing Angels and Airwaves.Atleased they made their last album a good one.I recomend songs like "I miss you", "Down", "Violent" and "All of this"
A lot less Drums,Guitar, and bass and a lot more instruments. They seemed to "Mature" more on this album.A lot less sex jokes. But they still like to sing about girls and love.Well whatever.Get it.You won't regret it at all.A very good album.

Now, to the review:
Is it the sex pistols? no. ramones? no. dead kennedys? no. But is it punk: Yes. Ever heard of the descendents? They rocked, and were possibly one of the most influential punk bands ever. If I had to compare this album to someone, it would be the descendents. While this album may, at some points, seem to venture into pop-punk, it's some of the best pop-punk yet.
Sure, the recording quality sucks, but that just adds to the awesome feel of this album. The band occassionaly messes up vocally and instrumentally, which makes the album feel very natural. Plus, blink had their own identity at this point, so they weren't exactly like every punk band out there. The songs move along at an awesome pace, with very little space between each track.
However, the album could have been a bit more agressive. It seemed like their singing was kinda held back at some points. Some songs could've gone faster, too. But, all in all, it's a good punk album.
