The rockabilly varies from the most absolute frantic, wild "Love Me" to boogie woogie "Carry On" by Jimmy Newman to the Texas blues style of Ray Sharpe. Pop/rockabilly is also covered on numerous tracks (Sanford Clark & Nikki Sullivan of the Crickets) and there is one disappointing country track by Jim Ringo.
As with any Bear Family release, the booklet is packed with detailed liner notes and pictures. The tracks are taken directly from the masters, thereby allowing a bigger and clearer sound.
As a Cramps fan, I was drawn in by the originals of "Love Me" and "Strange Love" (Keith Courvale). I have about 7-8 cd's from this series, and this disc is one of my favorties. Due to the pricing of Bear Family cd's, I recommend this to rockabilly enthusiasts, but casual fans might check out other collections like Get Hot Or Go Home, which is usually a bit cheaper. Or, of course, a best-of Sun rockabilly collection.
It's a shame Amazon doesn't provide a listening preview.
