The movie it ain't!.......2007-06-21

I purchased this SACD after reading the glowing reviews and was disappointed when I listened to the recording. Despite being the soundtrack to a VERY LONG film, there was very little contrast in the 18 offerings on the disc. Unlike numerous classical SACDs that have greatly moved me, "Dances With Wolves" merely lulled me to sleep.

not all SACD are surround.......2005-05-05

I just wanted to let everyone know who read that review that he doesnt know what he is talking about. Yes this is a STEREO only SACD. SACD was first made only in stereo. There was no surround or hybrid SACD. And if you listen to SACD dont buy the regular CD this will blow it away.Im not trying to be mean just stating the facts. Ive been listining to SACD since 1999 when sony released this format and when I heard Billy Joel I was hooked. Have fun and buy them all because Sony is thinking of not doing SACD anymore and that would be awful.

SACD, but NO surround sound.......2005-02-13

Very nice music - nothing wrong with that.
But.... this is a stereo CD. It has SACD written all over it and my new Denon DVD-3910 DVD player does recognise this as an SACD, but it only has 2 channels, instead of 5.1. I do own several other SACD's and these DO play 5.1 channel. Very strange....
So perhaps it's smarter to order the Stereo CD, the one with the special bonus tracks (Dances with Wolves (Special Extended Edition).

They rolled that ball into a number of headlining gigs at The Curtain Club, and The Galaxy Club, in Deep Ellum. Now the band has just finished recording their first full length called "One of Us" They recorded the CD at MaxiMedia Recording Studios here in Dallas with Eddie Head engineering and producing. Eddy Schreyer (Jane's Addiction, Korn, Tool) is mastering the disc in LA. At first listen, people may still compare Howard's voice to Corey Glover from Living Colour, or Lajon from Sevendust, but Howard has really come into his own with his powerful, yet soulful voice, and can be heard in the brand new song "Alone" where Howard pleads "I don't want to live my life alone, I'm on my own, I'll die alone.

Amazing live band.......2004-03-26

These guys put on one hell of a show. I am fortunate enough to live in Denton, TX so I am only thirty minutes away from Dallas where these guys play every weekend. These guys deserve to make it big time. The guitar riffs on this album are so infectious and the words are so touching that it is impossible not to love these guys. Best songs on the album are Alone, Last Bell, Unmask, and On Your Cross. Buy this album to support a band that deserves to make it big.

Having known DownLo since the days of funk/rap/soul/rock Crucial Fiction, they have taken it to the next level. Bands on MTV wish they had half the talent and lyrics to compete with what DownLo is doing. Unfortunately we all know that you gotta know somebody in this business to make it big, so quite thinking about it and support one KICK A## Band so that the word will spread like an infectious disease.

I was browsing through the rock section and I came across DownLo. I loaded the demo track "One of Us" and I was sold. The CD id full of killer tracks! One of Us is still in my CD player after Three Weeks.

Album Description

In contemplating their follow-up to Songs Arriving Late (by the one-shot band, One Week In April), Naked April decided that the most effective and interesting way to proceed would be to write and record the songs with the core group (Kent Rytting, Nick Bennett, Shane Duncan, James Trevino) in semi-annual band retreats in Utah and New Mexico. As need and opportunity arose, other musicians contributed music, lyrics, and performances.

The final result is a roller-coaster ride through the thoughts and experiences of each songwriter in turn, reflected in the funhouse mirror of the collaboration of the entire group.
