www.myspace.com/truckenstein.......2006-06-20
This rap band brings a sound that's pretty unusual to come from Little Rock, Arkansas. Mixing elements of drum-n-bass, IDM, and the blues into a soundscape that it mostly dominated by an alternative rap aesthetic. The core group consists of Sunny "The Emperor" Haynes, Michael "Shaggy" Tustison, and Jason "Mad Trucker" Harrington.
Mad Trucker has been rapping for about 10 years. He is known for wild voice changes and kaleidoscopic abstract content. He does stick to using a chorus & verse structure, but does not stick to 16 bars very often. His influence is mostly mid-90's east coast hip hop, Definitive Jux, & wierd rap/music in general. His content on this album mostly consists of dark sci-fi concepts mixing reality with fantasy kind of like an angry Ray Bradbury (one of his influences). Trucker's influence on the production can be heard through the grimey samples, de-tuned pianos and distorted snare drums.
The Emperor brings in the hi-fi, electronica, and Drum-N-Bass/Jungle elements in the drum programming and strong/clean synthesizers. His background lies mostly in live sound engineering and this is his only CD ever recorded. prior to this he has run sound for Lil Bow Wow, Nappy Roots, The Edge, Blood Brothers, Coheed and Cambria, and a number of others.
Michael "Shaggy" Tustison brings in the bluesy guitar notes which serve to really deepen the overall mood. Unfortunatly he passed away tragically on 05/23/06. I think there are around three songs he doesn't play on, but all the rest of these contain elements of his guitar in some shape form or fashion. To learn more about him go to www.myspace.com/shaggy76 where we are maintaining a music page in his honor. He had over ten years of experience playing guitar and he was Jason's (Mad Trucker) primary collaborator for over 20 years.
Other collaborators on this album include Elimonster on bass and Maralie (AKA Honeybeast) doing back up singing. They appear on a couple of songs a peice, but they are much better known for their work with Soophie Nun Squad. SNS are a punk band who have extensivly toured the DIY scene in the US, as well as in Australia, Europe, and Japan. The frontman for that group is Nate Powell, who is also an acomplished graphic novelist who's books are also sold here on Amazon.
There are several other collaborators as well, all of which represent www.undertheground.com in some shape, form or fashion:
--The Jampire (AKA Bizarro the Anti Christ Sperm Donor): He is a regular part of the T-9 stage show when they perform near their home town. He comes from a group called Traumah Team which was lead by infamous Little Rock rapper "607." Jampire is currently in the studio working on a solo album produced by Mad Trucker and his wife Paige. He represents a kind of nerdy approach to horror-core rap over music that is influenced by induistrial rock. Jampire probably has around ten years of experience performing with his previous group and as a solo artist. Jampire appears on "Howlin' Wolf." His brother RBD (AKA Random Black Dude, also from the Traumah Team) appears on "Zombies."
--The Real Dirtbag: This is another guy you might often see on stage with Mad Trucker. Well known around Little Rock for his street team skills as well as his "Me, Myself and I" CD, which frequently goes in and out of print (get it if you find it--it's hot!). Dirt is better known for his DJ skills with his crew "Phonographics Tuntablist," but he's also skilled in grafitti and most people in Little Rock will tell you that he very much defines what it means to be Hip-Hop, in that he is always in tune to all the elements of underground hip hop as well as all the trends in popular rap culture. Dirtbag appears on "Zombies."
--DJ Discipline: This guy is another member of Phonographics Turntablist Crew. When he's doing blends, he's know for blending Likwit Crew with G-Unit and other hardcore type stuff, but when he cuts he's known for fast and precise techniques inspired by the Scratch Pickles. Discipline appears on extended ending of "Deadman Schizo."
--9th Scientist: This guy just signed to Domination Records at the end of last year. He easily has at least ten years or more experience on stage as mostly a solo artist. His primary inspiration is MF Doom and but he's a student of all the classics of hip hop as well as jazz artists like Sun Rah. He's mainly on some knowledge-type rap. He appears on the song "Armageddon." His alter ego Angilas appears on "Swamp Things."

Customer Reviews:
here come the heroes.......2003-12-20
If you've caught one of the Wednesday Night Heroes abrasive live shows in the past couple of years then you know that their venomous mix of streetpunk and hardcore hits where it hurts, packs a solid punch, and leaves no favourites. If you're on the floor, and the Heroes are on stage, you're part of the rebellion. The churning, cleansing fires of punk can rile you up once more with Superiority Complex, arguably better than their fantastic debut album.
Encouragement to buy this record is dumb. Commandment, on the other hand, fits like a glove.
If you wanna rock, if you wanna pogo, if you wanna scream and shout and support unity and being who you are, then buy this god damn record. That is all.
