Product Description
This fantastic album is the first one by SEVEN REIZH, a french duo from Brittany. Claude Mignon (composer) and Gérard Le Dortz (writer) have been working for years to create this magic story, the quest of Enora, a young girl looking for herself through celtic legends and mysteries. The music is a brand new synthesis between progressive rock and celtic/folk music. A bunch of famous musicians are to be found here, the Mevel brothers (Kad, Tri Yann), Farid Aït-Siameur and Olivier Carole(Tayfa), le bagad penhars, and a splendid female vocalist, Bleunwenn (Glaz, Tri-yann). Somewhere between Pink Floyd -for atmospheres, keyboards, sounds-, and Dan ar Bras or Tri yann, with sometimes a progressive touch ala Marillion, here is a masterpiece of modern music, wonderfully composed, played and produced.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Gorgeous Symphonic Rock.......2001-12-04

Seven Reizh is itself the duo of Claude Mignon and Gerard Le Dortz, but a whole host of musicians play on this album including the outstanding Celtic rock chantese Bleunwenn. The CD comprises ten songs ranging in length from 3 to ten minutes, with 7-8 minutes being about average. Musically, the compositions are best described as lush symphonic rock... although it's hard to find an exact point of comparison as there is no other band that Seven Reizh really sounds like.... maybe Camel, perhaps ,but not quite. Although the lyrics are all in Breton, and there are a few folksy instruments thrown in here and there, there isn't really a heavy Breton influence in the music.... only a few light 'Celticky seasonings' thrown in herr and there. (In that sense, Iona might be a worthwhile point of comparison with this band). Lots of keyboards, electric and acoustic guitar, and female vocals, with occasional flute, mandolin, bombarde, etc. make for exciting tonal contrasts as well. Highly recommended for prog fans.
