5 out of 5 stars Thank You! Boyz II Men are back!.......2007-03-09

Great album! I am a Boyz II Men fan from the '90s but found the last several CDs released to be lackluster. This album finally brings back a little of the soulful sounds BIIM were known for. It is a more mature sound (and more mature lyrics). The beats are interesting and the harmonies are true BIIM. I found the 1st single to be released, "Muzak", to be the least interesting of the tracks. "You don't love me" is a great mix of harmonies and beats. "Morning Love" is one of the slow love songs Boyz II Men are known for. All in all, VERY pleased with this album. Hopefully they release the album in the US with good publicity because this album is worth a listen!

4 out of 5 stars Changing Ways.......2007-03-09

The Remedy definitely has a different feel about it that after the likes of the Full Circle and Throwback. I found myself wanting harmony, with Wanya bringing it home at the end of the track. Overall not a bad album. "The last time" and "just like me" were by far the best!

5 out of 5 stars Something Different from the Boyz you Love.......2007-03-08

I am a lifelong fan of Boyz II Men,and although this is not your comfortable Boyz CD, I LOVE IT. The fellas have grown up, and this music reflects it! It is full of the R&B that they had been wanting to do for so long. I for one am glad they got the opportunity to do it. The dance tracks are so catchy,"All Booed Up" and "YOu Don't Love Me" are awesome.
The slow tracks are sensual and sweet all at the same time. "Morning Love" is a the best! "The Last Time" is the most beautiful AND technically sound song on the entire album, although it is the saddest. Even though it is sad, you will enjoy listening none the less. My personal favorite on the album is "Crush". This song is fun and sexy and everything all together. On a whole, Boyz II Men fans will be pleasantly surprised. And although this is not the first album recorded without Mike,(Throwback was in 2005, get this one too!),I have to say that Nate does a wonderful job holding down the bass notes. You can hear all the wonderful harmonies you are used to, along with the R&B they had been wanting to do.
Outstanding!

5 out of 5 stars Still the greatest!!!.......2007-03-06

The fellas are still doing it. I've grown from a girl to a woman along with Nate, Shawn, Wanya (and Mike though he's moved on). I love Boyz II Men and no matter what the industry says, they are one of the crown jewel groups of R &B. Their fans and R&B fans in general will not be disappointed in this album. They were with me when I first fell in love and "Please Don't Go", "Uhh-Ahh" "End of the Road" and "Water Runs Dry" were part of the soundtrack for that relationship. When it ended, they comforted me with "Doing Just Fine" and "Four Seasons of Loneliness." When I found the love of my life and got married, "I Do" was the song that played as my husband made his entrance. Now five years into marriage, "Morning Love" and "Perfect Love Song" touch me in a particular way. "Last Time" and "Crush" are also great ballads whose words speak to me directly. The fellas have always been able to come out with songs that make you feel like they're in your life, going through the same joys and heartbreaks as you do.

5 out of 5 stars Vintage Boyz II Men.......2007-02-27

I got this C.D. almost a week ago now and I have been listening to it non-stop. This is classic Boyz II men, in the sense that this whole c.d. is worth listening to repeatedly, and it is one of their best albums. They have a new feel to them, with every group memeber having equal parts to almost every song. The bridge isn't just sung by Wanya anymore, which is refreshing to hear Nathan and Shawn providing their voices. My favorite song, if I had to choose, would be "Here I Come". It is a really nice song and nicely done. My only complaint about this album, as with every Boyz II Men album, is that it is to short. They should just make about 25 songs and just let their fans jam for hours. This review is biased since I am a die-hard Boyz II Men fan, but I'm sure anybody buying this won't be disappointed.

Finally, Basement Jaxx's long-awaited full-length, Remedy, has been issued in the U.S. It's aptly titled, to be sure: the production duo's record is a remedy to the dull, faceless house and techno that populates dance floors. The duo are unrepentantly pop savvy, bringing vocals and lyrics to their unique blend of electro, house, hip-hop, salsa, and soul. It's a weird combo, but like the best of all pop songs, Basement Jaxx tracks stick like putty to the ears within a few listens. In fact, you may feel that you've already heard much of Remedy when you give it a spin on your CD player. With their boisterous samples, vocal hooks, and funked-out, catchy bass lines, the songs "Rendez-vu," "Yo-Yo," and "Red Alert" seem like familiar friends, rather than just the next big thing. --Tricia Romano

Album Description

A set of incredibly diverse tracks, 'Remedy' is indebted to the raw American house of Todd Terry and Masters at Work, and even shares the NuYoricans' penchant for Latin vibes (especially on the horn-driven 'Bingo Bango' and the opener, 'Rendez-Vu,' which trades a bit of salsa wiggle with infectious vocoderized disco). 15 tracks, including 'Red Alert' and 'Rendez-Vu', on this Astralwerks release.

5 out of 5 stars Instant Recollection.......2007-03-24

This is one of those albums where you can hear the first few beats of a song, and instantly you can recall all the words to the songs, the rest of the melody, and that certain era in your life where this album was your soundtrack.

Watching QAF Season 1 on DVD just now, I've heard Bingo Bango and Rendez-Vu and I'm instantly transported to my freshman year of university, living in the dorms. I also remember Coke using Red Alert in an advert, and I can picture perfectly the overweight guy dancing fluidly to this song with glowsticks.

It's amazing what you can remember and how much is buried deep down inside you until something like this brings it right back up to the surface. Instance recollection, and instant classic. Highly recommended!

Also check out L'Amour Toujours by Gigi D'Agostino, another significant album from that period.

5 out of 5 stars A Crazy Dance Floor Classic.......2005-12-24

Ask anyone who's an expert on the dance music scene who has had the biggest impact over the past 10 years, and the answer you're most likely to get is Basement Jaxx. Since the late Nineties, this dance/funk duo, comprising of Felix Burton and Simon Ratcliffe, have been releasing club anthem after club anthem. Dance music is usually associated with chavs and people who are, well, let's just say, less intelligent than someone who listens to rock and indie. For the most part I have to agree with this, because the majority of dance music is just absolute junk with no soul. The Basement Jaxx, however, are very special and a clear exception to this rule. Their dance music is varied, incorporating many different musical styles from ska, jaxx, disco, funk, techno, pop, rock and so much more.

The duo's first full studio album arrived in April 1999 and was called "Remedy." It crashed straight into the UK album chart at No.2 and is widely considered one of the best dance albums ever made. I still remember hearing the singles on the radio when this album came out and thinking just how brilliant the melodies were. The lyrics are quite primal and animalistic, very nature-orientated, but channelled through dance music, presenting the idea that you become primal and uninhibited when on the dance floor. At least that's my theory.

The album opens with the second single "Rendez-Vu," which charted at No.4 in the UK in August 1999. The album version is much better than the radio edit because it runs for almost six minutes, and the Spanish guitar just rides along for the full length! The beat on this song sizzles in the summer heat; the video was a perfect compliment. "Yo-Yo" is just a crazy beat-laced song with a bass that rides on the underbelly of the beat like Prince on acid. The lyrics are really cool and spiky, and the vocal delivery is sensual, dark and mysterious. "Jump N' Shout" is one of the best songs I think I've ever heard. The Jaxx take this song up into the clouds with a beat that climbs higher and higher until an explosive, siren-blasting chorus. The male vocal delivery is brilliant, even though I don't know what the hell he's going on about in the verses. "U Can't Stop Me" is a slower, more laid-back song and not up to par with the first three songs. However, I still find the instrumentals interesting.

"Jaxxalude" is a rather pointless interlude, which leads us into the dance classic, "Red Alert." This is easily one of the most famous dance songs in history and has ruled night clubs since its inception back in late 1998. It charted at No.6 in the UK in early 1999 and still remains a big radio hit seven years later. The video was crazy and sex-fuelled, the vocals are manic and the beat will rock ya body all night long! "Jazzalude" is my favourite interlude of the album, it's very classy, albeit brief. "Always Be There" is a bloody amazing song, an aural soundscape of synths and beats whipped up into a crazy concoction of Jaxx-ness! The lyrics and vocals are almost indecipherable, but that's all part of the plan to let the beat take over your body. And the strings! Oh, the strings! Pure classy smoothness. "Sneakalude" is pretty pointless too. This is followed by "Same Old Show," which opens with rather orgasmic vocal screams. These continue throughout the song, as more clicks and bleeps gradually get thrown into the mix.

Up next is "Bingo Bango," a true Jaxx classic, worth its weight in gold! This song runs for almost six minutes and is another dancefloor classic. You might not know it from the title, but once it starts playing, trust me, you'll have heard it somewhere! The vocals aren't much, it's just more about the beat which is just incredible and relentless. "Gemilude" is another annoying little skit thing that I don't care for. This is followed by "Stop 4 Love," which is one of the album's more laid-back, chilled songs. It opens almost like Bjork's "Possibly Maybe," with what sounds the hum of a telephone ringing, before a warm and inviting bed of synths envelops you. "Don't Give Up" has a crazy synth beat that swings side to side, causing you to feel a bit disorientated! The vocals aren't up to much and neither is this song to be honest. The album closes with "Being With U." This song has a consistent beat and rhythmic flow that I like a lot. The lyrics are quite sweet too, vocals very soft and understated. A great closer.

OVERALL GRADE: 9/10

The Basement Jaxx are probably the best thing to ever happen to dance music, period. Some will say Faithless are better. I disagree. The Jaxx are just out there and piss some people off for their 'inaccessibility' but I just think they're incredible and very experimental. I love creative artists not afraid to try new sounds out, because when the end result is really impressive you know they're something very special. This album is a testament to this, but I think their sophomore effort is possibly even better.

5 out of 5 stars A Classic.......2005-10-21

Basement Jaxx is one of those groups that never ceases to amaze me with their electronic creativity. They are among the funkiest beats I've ever heard and remind me of The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers. The tracks pump you up and make you want to dance. They accomplish their grooves without redundancy within each track or within the compilation itself. And although people may not recognize "Red Alert" from the title, trust me you've heard it and probably love it too.

5 out of 5 stars A absolute belter!.......2005-06-24

If you have not heard this band then you must, they turn the faceless and forgettable world of dance music into one of namedropping fabulousness. The tracks are catchy, funky, rocking and ever so slightly barmy. Not a track on the album could be accussed of sounding like any other, these guys have a knack for celebrating and trendifying the nafist samples and embedding them in your head in a naughtily, wonderful, hypnotic manner! An absolute "must have" album purchase.

3 out of 5 stars Remedy.......2005-04-24

While Basement Jaxx's debut is a good record, I have to say it pales in comparison to the funky "Rooty". Tracks like "Rendez-Vu", "Red Alert", and the Dizzee Rascal-style "Jump N' Shout" are great tracks, period; however, "Rooty" is much better.

I'am a long devoted STATUS QUO fan... so normally I should not be happy with this album, because it is not heavy. But don't mind..! The songs are very well made...and you will enjoy them. If you are a country rock fan and the famous "Marguerita time" is one of your favourite QUO song.. you will like the gems like the " Adress book" and the " Going down.." So don't hesitate...!! Try this together with the Ain't Complaining album...

5 out of 5 stars If music could fall into the category of being TOO GOOD - this album would qualify..........2007-01-07

Honestly, the music on this album is so moving, so inventive, so unique, that trying to explain it to someone is almost futile. You would benefit yourself immensely if you just stopped reading my review right now and immediately bought this album.

This music does not easily fall into any category, but if you are a fan of progressive rock/metal, alternative, classical, or just a music fan in general, then you NEED this album. If I had to choose one word to describe the sound it would be EPIC.

The first track 'Of Two Beginnings' gives you an idea of the diversity, emotion, and complexity that will captivate your ears when listening through the entire album. Starting with a mellow, eery mood and Daniel's soft melodic vocals beginning the story of this concept album, not even a minute into the song the atmosphere changes dramatically with the vocals becoming a deeper emotional yell backed by pounding riffs, various background vocals, and wailing guitars - within 2 minutes the song is back to a mellow mood again before immediately taking you into the next song with a loud melodic guitar piece that almost makes you cry.

The entire album is full of climactic mood changes, intelligent lyrics, and unpredictable complex song arrangments that defy normality. The drumming, keyboards, strings, vocals, and other sounds are arranged in such perfect beauty that the listener can only sit in wonder and amazement at the quality of sound coming forth from their speakers.

My personal favorite track is 'Trace of Blood', an epic 8 minute tale of a couple's emotions over having a miscarriage, full of great guitar work and hauntingly moving vocals. 'Dryad of the Woods' is a beautiful 5 minute instrumental piece that has just as much emotion as any of the songs accompanied by Daniel's broad vocal range. There is no bad song on this album, and one song runs into the other making a complete musical masterpiece.

RECOMMENDATION: Do yourself a favor and buy not only this album, but every POS release. If you have to choose one more to buy after 'Remedy Lane' then purchase 'The Perfect Element 1' - another masterpiece, but you cannot go wrong with any music by this band. The new album 'Scarsick' is coming out this month!

5 out of 5 stars Happy Birthday Daniel G.!.......2006-06-06

Hey, just wanted to write a review for Pain of Salvation on Daniel Gildenlow's birthday. This album is really amazing, their second best next to TPE. If you haven't heard it, you should definitely buy it (although if you haven't heard them before, get TPE first).

So anyway, that's it. One of the best albums ever, by anyone, for sure.

5 out of 5 stars Some of PoS's Best, Inventive Take On Progressive Metal.......2006-01-17

With `Remedy Lane', Pain of Salvation discarded doubts and worries that they could not make another album as good as `The Perfect Element'. As with many others, I would have enjoyed a second part to `The Perfect Element', but in some ways a new direction keeps the music fresh and interesting. With such a unique sound in the first place it would be a shame for the band to simply re-create a winning formula.

While the general sound to the album is undeniably PoS, with Gildenlow's vocals still as diverse and emotional as ever and the unique mix-matching of prog sub-genres, `Remedy Lane' is a different direction for the band, one focusing much more on the emotions created by music as opposed to a concept. This is not to say Gildenlow has deserted the concept, there is one dealing with human relationships and the feelings attached to it, but it is much looser when compared to the weighted concepts of `The Perfect Element' and especially the latest release `Be'. With less emphasis on concepts PoS come up with arguably their finest array of musicianship, matching the seemingly unmatchable exhibit of TPE.

The album is split into three main chapters, with the moody `Of Two Beginnings' working as an introduction. Chapter one includes some of PoS finest work to date, and is possibly my favourite of the three chapters (although that does change all too often). `Ending Theme' is a typical tragic PoS song, Gildenlow's vocal delivery is superb here, with a real sense of frustration and anguish as he bursts out the chorus lines. `Fandango' is a great example of what makes PoS so unique and compelling, for anyone new to the band, I'd check this out, after a few listens the odd melody and time changes really work, one of the `quirkier' songs of the album. `A Trace of Blood' is simply stunning, at just over 8 minutes it's very progressive in style and structure, recalling the kind of writing of the old prog gods such as Rush and Yes. Despite sounding relatively `upbeat', the lyrics deal with a stillborn child, adding yet another emotional dimension.

Chapter two contains one of my favourite PoS ballads, `Undertow' is a melancholic piece full of emotional guitar playing and of course a huge vocal delivery by Gildenlow to cap it off. `Rope Ends', like `A Trace of Blood' is hard hitting in the lyric and music department and is the heaviest song on the album, full of disorientating guitar and drum arrangements, a fine jazz middle section and some poignant lyrics on considering suicide.

Chapter three for me has two extremely fine moments, the first coming in the infectious `Waking Every God' which has a superb chorus with great vocal harmonising. The closing track is at times my favourite, twisting and turning through its 10 minute duration, showcasing some fine melancholic passages and great hard/soft contrasts.

For anyone looking for something new and fresh in their progressive collection, this is certainly worth a try. For those already familiar with PoS, just not this album, what are you waiting for honey?

    5 out of 5 stars Gildenlow's finest hour.......2005-11-23

My favourite Pain of Salvation album, also my favourite album of all time. Remedy Lane is dark, emotive, beautiful, dealing with subjects such as suicide, love, despair, miscarriage, and a trip into a painful past.

Why is it my favourite? First, the production is great. No more muddy tones such as in Perfect Element I. Second, the humanity of the subjects clicks with me very well. Don't get me wrong. 'Be' is good as a philosophical piece, but Remedy Lane's lyrical subjects, music strikes the deeper (and deepest chord) compared to all of their other albums.

Let me touch on Gildenlow. Amazing singer, truly unique, and the only singer I have ever heard to truly use his voice as an instrument. The weird sounds he makes, as mentioned by another reviewer, just enhances Remedy Lane for me. He is on top form here, and backed by an excellent vocalist with complex, deep and stirring music - How could Remedy Lane be anything short of a masterpiece?

5 out of 5 stars Oh the blood, the lust............2005-06-08

"We will always be so much more human than we wish to be...."

    Pain of Salvation.

This band is my favorite ever.

I'm sorry to resort to hyperbole, but no band has ever had such a powerful emotional draw for me, and Remedy Lane is a perfect example of these powerful emotions that PoS evokes so wonderfully. While I do feel that The Perfect Element pt. I is their best album as a whole, I think many of the individual songs on Remedy Lane stand out strongly. I NEVER tire of listening to this album, and even the songs that initially sounded strange because of the polyrythms sound "just right" to me now.

It certainly helps that Daniel Gildenlow is also one of my favorite vocalists ever. Many people say he is over the top or something, but that's how I like my singers to be: theatrical, dramatic, evocative, versatile...there are so many times where his voice both lifts me uup and drowns me in intense pain. That moment in "Trace of Blood" where he mournfully wails, "too late we learned!" just breaks my heart every time. And there is of course the amazing "Undertow" that just builds and builds, and Fandango is one of the strangest but most interesting songs, and "Beyond the Pale" still gives me chills... "its just another small thorn in my crown/ Then suddenly one day there was too much blood in my eyes/ and I had to take this walk down Remedy Lane of whys and whys.....

    Pain of Salvation.

Watch them dance down the Remedy Lane and let the Undertow sweep you away....

    4 out of 5 stars WU-TANG CLAN'S RED HEADED STEP CHILD!.......2005-03-07

this bad-a$$ album is !OVERFLOWING! with the unique & beautifully addictive sound of the TANGY-WU. "REMEDY" can spit like there ain't no tomorrow but he's WHITE so ya know he's not gonna get the respect he so very much deserves for his sick MC skillz! thats alright i'd rather my real underground artist's stay underground, its so much better than blowing up like a baloon until you POP*! (R.I.P-O.D.B.) wu-tang fo-life!

    4 out of 5 stars Hott.......2003-07-14

Well, i was quite impressed when i heard remedy's " the genuine article"...I realy did enjoy listining to all of this specialy the track "fallen angles" , "u don't care" and, "never again" which all with the rest of the tracks make this an pretty tight album for exception of the track "girlfriend" which i thought it was weak... The album sounds damn good ! Peace!!

4 out of 5 stars Wow, a white Jewish rapper..........2003-01-16

I would have never thought possible that there would be another white rapper besides Vanilla Ice. Eminem and Everlast came along. I would have never thought that there would be a white JEWISH rapper. Being a Jew, I gotta give this guy mad props.

I heard the "Never Again" track on the Wu-Tang Killa Beez album and it's one of my favorite songs ever. It's got such a great message and when I played it for my grandpa it brought tears to his eyes. I'd never seen him cry before, and he told me what a great song it was. And it is.

I also love the track "Hip Hop Music" cuz it's got a sweet beat to it, I love the bit of rock-n-roll mixed in to it. The track "Education" is another great one, I like the kids in the background of it. "White Boy" is a good track too, it's pretty funny. Good music video too.

If you're a fan of the Wu-Tang cru, this is a must have album by one of their best rappers. Also, if you're Jewish, I suggest peepin this too or at least downloading the "Never Again" track because it's a GREAT song.

4 out of 5 stars An album worth checking out.......2002-11-23

Being a loyal hardcore fan of Wu-tang for sometime now, I've been anticipating Remedy's album since his first appearance on "The Swarm". It ain't by mainstream stadards "platinum material", but on the contrary, most of that hybrid "rmb mixed rap" out there is all monotonous and shouldn't be compared to Wutang productions. I think this album is an admirable attempt at retaining the Wutang tradition - tight rhymes, metaphors, and storytelling. The beats are straight. The material is pretty straight considering this being the first album but it is lacking in the rhyming and metorphorical department in some cuts especially in "White Boy" but it's a fresh topic. None of the cuts are near the calibur of "Never Again". Remedy has his own flavor and style of executing rhymes just as Method Man, RZA, etc do. As for comparing him to other rappers for the sake of race such as "Eminem", Remedy shows promise and is tight in his own respect, but still has ways to go. Wutang!

4 out of 5 stars As WU as he wants to BEE!.......2002-04-16

Remedy's album is a really good album. It is remnisant to true Wu form. It felt like, and grew on me much like Ghostface and Rae's first albums. The album could have used another guest appearance or two, but Remedy is a truely talented rapper and his message is heart felt. This Album is not about push'n BMW's and popp'n crystal

REmedy is a true Killer Bee! RZA should bust'm out and tour with him, instead of some of those other lazy, fall'n-off-track wu members! I want a new one from REMEDY!!!!!!!

    5 out of 5 stars Blistering Rock n' Roll! (4.5 Stars).......2007-05-18

A fairly new band on the rock scene, Rattlesnake Remedy finally released their first full length album in their native Britain. It can be a bit pricey to acquire, for US fans, but I bought this one after hearing only four of the songs and, to say the least, I'm happy with that decision. The band's style is generally straight ahead hard rock, with vocals reminiscent of Bon Scott era AC/DC and bass lines similar to those you might find in an Appetite era Guns N' Roses song.

    Black Sheep Fiddle (9/10)
---A straight ahead hard rocker that does a good job of showcasing the band's abilities. And, just when you think an extended break will end without a guitar solo, the band delivers. A strong opening track!

    Drag You Down (10/10)
---The opening guitar licks of this song really grab you. They strike me as being both hard rock yet seem to have an almost folk melody to them. The song starts out hard, and tones it down about halfway through, before building back to a hard rock frenzy with a great solo that reminds me, at times, of something Slash might have done, back in the day.

    Free To Feel (7/10)
---After two blistering opening tracks, the boys slow it down with this one. Certainly NOT a "power ballad," by any stretch. Actually, it goes at a decent pace, despite being one of the softer songs on the album. At points, this one reminds me of Dire Straits, though perhaps not so complex. A good soft rocker, but not the best on the album.

    Payin' My Dues (9/10)
---And right back to the hard stuff, this is probably the bluesiest track on the album, and I love hearin' that harmonica at the beginning. This is one of the most reminiscent of AC/DC, in my opinion, and that's a good thing!

    Reach For The Line (8/10)
---Perhaps the hardest rocker on the album, with a killer riff! I really enjoy this one, though I think the chorus is a bit weak but, as always, this song is made better by a break for a cool solo.

    Killing Time (8/10)
---Another hard one, and the opposite of the track before it, in that I think this one has slightly weak verses but a stronger chorus. Of course, this allows the listener to admire the guitar work during the verses.

    Angels Eyes (8/10)
---Ah, I was beginning to forget that these guys can write a ballad! Well, here's the second soft song and the first true ballad of the album. I particularly like this one, both for its content and for its placement on the album. If offers a good break from three straight hard rockers and is the closest thing to a true power ballad that this album offers.

    Nothing Right (8/10)
---A bluesy, riff driven rock song and one of the least "hard" of the rock songs on here. I don't find this to be one of the stronger tracks on the album, but it's far from weak, and offers some good vocals and guitar work.

    Falling Away (9/10)
---A very cool song, both for its riffs and unique chorus. This one may not sit as well with everyone as it does with me, and I'll admit that it took a few listens for me to really appreciate this as one of the best songs on the album. The solo isn't quite as good as those in other tracks, but it's still a strong one.

    Freestyle (10/10)
---If you recognize Ted Nugent's "Stranglehold" for the amazing song that it is, then this one's for you. This is one of those slow, grinding songs, with some great, guitar driven atmosphere. It's slow, but not soft, by any means, and if you love to listen to someone just wrenching those great emotional notes out of a guitar, then you'll love this track.

    Magic Man (9/10)
---A hard, medium-paced rocker, with a catchy, harmonious chorus, I can see why this is the title track. While it's not the best they offer on this album, it's probably the most easily accessible after one listen. It's a strong rock song near the end of the album and would be equally strong at the end of a show. It also features one of the longer solos on the album, and you won't catch me complaining about that.

    Don't Say Goodbye (8/10)
---An interesting choice to close the album, though I do agree that there needed to be something harder between the atmospheric "Freestyle" and this one, which is almost like a rock n' roll lullaby. Acoustic and soothing, this song is like aloe on your skin, after the wicked sunburn the rest of the album gives you.

At the end of the day, this is an album that exceeded my expectations. If you go into it expecting epic hard rock masterpieces that last eight or nine minutes (Stairway to Heaven or November Rain, anyone?), you'll be disappointed. If you want to hear that kind of dirty, barroom rock n' roll that makes you feel like you need back-to-back showers, then you're in luck, because this is it, and I haven't heard it done better for a long time. If you like bands such as AC/DC, GNR, and Aerosmith, you'll like this. Also, other new(er) bands with similarly strong hard rockin' efforts that you might enjoy include Kid Ego, Kill Cheerleader, Bullets and Octane, Buckcherry, and Beautiful Creatures.

    5 out of 5 stars Never Again!.......2004-05-17

I've only heard a few songs from this CD but the track "Never Again" is hands down the most influential song I've ever heard. It's touching yet the rhymes are really inventive. It's poetry at it's best, with a message about hate, genocide, and not doing the right thing. This song alone is worth buying this CD!

2 out of 5 stars What is this?.......2003-10-15

I remember a few years ago anticipating the release of the white rapper affiliated with Wu- Tang. I first heard Remedy, as I imagine everyone did on The swarm with "never again" which impressed me thoroughly. I looked for more of his music, never to find anything.
So fast forward 4-5 years later, to me at the record store. I see Code Red and think "oh man, this should be good!" I bought it without hesitation, and went to my car to give it a fair listen. I literally started laughing at nearly all the tracks. Was this guy serious?
Luckily he included "never again" (even though he added on a ridiculous intro, and it seems as though the sound quality has dropped slightly), seeing that my Swarm cd was stolen. Exodus was humorous, but decent. All of the other tracks were forgettable. I actually wish I could forget how poor some of them were. I was really rooting for Remedy, but he left me a little dissapointed.

    5 out of 5 stars Knowledge.......2003-04-10

This album is full of knowledge, like all Wu-Tang affiliated music. In the intro Remedy sets the stage for this LP, "And Now I Bring The Offering: Remedy, Another Genuine Article" and he produces, Book Of Life is a thinking man's track. If you listen to the album from beginning to end, he definetely reps his roots and drops a gem for everyone.

I personally enjoyed this album, it's definetely worth your time.

    3 out of 5 stars Remedy's Second Album.......2003-03-31

A decent second album from the Wu-Tang Killa Bee and former high school classmate of RZA and other Wu Tang Clan members. The Jewish Holocaust anthem Never Again is included. Music is downbeat with pianos, strings and hardcore beats, no sappy party music here. There's also a song called Exodus, about the Passover story with samples from the movie. A Muslim and a Jew featuring RZA is a harrowing track punctuated with spare a sparse piano on the anger Jewish people feel over suicide bombings in Israel replete with references to current events, people and places.

For a CD Single, this CD had a good selection of songs on it. It had the "remedy" both studio version and live, as well as two other live songs. Normally I would reccomend that you just get the cd that the single is from, but this cd does have some good stuff to make it worth buying.

4 out of 5 stars finally a song that is to awesome for words!!!.......2003-10-04

I haven't actually bought the CD but I have heard it on the radio. It is fresh, new, and not to heavy rock. I LOVE THIS SONG

4 out of 5 stars Nice debut from a likeable artist.......2003-10-01

Jason Mraz is a relatively new voice in the pop industry. Given that I had not even heard his hit single "Remedy" until a little over a month ago, it shouldn't come as a surprise that I did not know who this artist was and easily confused him with another performer. I'm not certain what the song is really about, but then again, I haven't put a lot of thought into it. As far as I'm concerned, it is just a really fun, catchy song that can make you feel an extra spring in your step when you hear it come on the radio.

The success of "Remedy", and the source of its ability to be confused with another artist, comes from its mixing a sweeping chorus with a spoken word style of verse that, in both lyrical style and vocal sound, reminds me of the work produced by Jamiroquai. Jason Mraz has talent and the appropriate degree of wry humor (which you'll see from watching the video for "Remedy") to make a career beyond just being a one-hit wonder. It will be interesting to see how he develops.

    5 out of 5 stars FINALLY A FRESH VOICE.......2003-09-03

Jason's sound, words and soul fly at you from this album.
I can't stop listening to it.
    And singing along.
Thank you Jason - for being fresh and different.
