Got It Goin On is the culmination of Chieli's evolving vision for instrumental music. Featuring such special guests as hit-making saxophonists Jeff Kashiwa, Kim Waters and Marion Meadows, guitarist Steve Oliver, and bassist Gerald Veasley, all solo recording artists in their own right, Chieli explores many facets of his musical world. For instance, "Love Is Always Young" is a beautiful version of a song written by his father, the noted Italian born composer Ulpio Minucci, when he was in his eighties. Chieli’s father had an impressive career in the music business and wrote songs for such stars as Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby and Julius La Rosa. "I could write a whole chapter on my Dad's life in music and his inspiration on me," Chieli says. " I felt a guitar rendition of his song would say enough about how I feel."

There are also good-time funk tracks such as "Good Times Ahead" and "Juice" as well as interesting re-imagining of "Still Waiting," one of Special EFX's signature tunes which is notable for the way it juxtaposes uptempo percussion and drums against semi-classical chord movement. Philip Hamilton delivers an impressive vocal on the studio version of the arrangement Chieli and his band have been playing in concert.

I listen to this CD repeatedly and have nearly worn it out after only three weeks. Chieli's style of play is poetically sparse, drawing the listener in with carefully chosen motifs while keeping the beat going. I love the wide range of emotions, moods, and riffs in this finger-popping CD. This is not one of those monotonous smooth jazz CD's where the music automatically repeats.
Each song in this CD is complex and all the songs together make for a large cinematic story that ranges from exuberant to soul-searching, but is always beautiful and sensuous.

What a gem. Minucci is one skilled guitarist. This disc really packs a punch.My favorite tracks are: "Good Times Ahead"," Chic",
"The Juice" and "Denial". What stands out for me is the great arranging and musicianship on this CD. Chieli Minucci just gets
better and better. His fingers "fly" across the fretboard when
playing lead. The disc is great driving music. To date, I find this to be Minucci's best CD. For the lover of smooth jazz guitar, this CD is a must.

What an incredible voice. James his new cd is recorded in the old fashioned way without to much effects etc. Only good musicians, a solid beat and the simple but full of emotion guitarplay of james. The title song 'got it going on'', starts of great and promises and delivers througout the whole CD. great Swing work in Mr. B's and Beat up my Love. Delicious besides the guitar are the organ and piano work.... one point of friendly advice for James, please use some brass/horns next time too.

Robeson at his best.......2001-03-24

This album consists of recordings Paul Robeson made in Britain durong the 1920s. He is accompanied by the great pianist Lawrence Brown or by a small orchestra led by Ray Noble. The songs on this disc are spirituals or pop songs of the era, and Robeson shines on every one of them. Robeson has an uncanny ability to make any song his own property, and this is especially true on his version of "Little Pal" - originally a saccharine semi-racist ballad written for Al Jolson. Robeson turns the song into a searing lament of an estranged father, and makes the song valid even today with his urgent, committed delivery. The majority of the songs on the cd are spirituals, and Robeson's versions are definitive in every sense of the word. All in all, there isn't a bad track here, and as an introduction to Robeson's work the record is priceless. The only aspect worth criticizing is the fact that the liner notes seem to shy away from the fact that Robeson was the first important black artist to actively fight for civil rights. The music here, however, is extremely beautiful.

The Backstreet Boys have been aroung from the late 90s.
The Backstreet Boys are my favorite group in the world.
My favorites are Brian , Nick , Kevin.
Howie and A.J. are exellent but still Brian , Nick and Kevin are my favorites.

Hey all BSB fans out there!!! And to the person who keeps reviewing and diising the Boys and talking about Andrea Bocelli, will you please stop, becasue that's not what a review is supposed to be about. K on to the CD!! We've Got It Going On and Tell Me That I'm Dreaming are 2 of the first songs that the guys ever released. If you wanna hear some really old BSB vocals, then get this, because you will crack up at how high Nick's voice is on Tell Me That I'm Dreaming!! But it's cool to see how they sounded back then. Nick was only about 13 or 14. The remixes are great too!!! The WGIGO Hula mix is really good, I love that one. So if you're a big BSB fan, then definitely get this one to add to your BSB CD collection!!

You take a risk ordering something off the internet. You can't always see what it has inside. Sometimes you can. This CD is great, there is no doubt of that, but I was dissapointed. Only one mix?! Then that"Backstreet Boys Album Medley"? What was that? I don't want to hear them talk! I want to hear them sing! I don't want a fake interview with song samples, I want another mix. If you want the CD for your collection, get it. But if you wanted it for remixes of the songs, don't.
