Having not heard any other Roots of Orchis albums I do not have much room for comparison, however, I would say Some Things Plural is a good album to have on as background music.

A great example of words being second choice.......2004-08-20

This album creates the certain aspect of thought indulgences with what leaves to the mind, a row of tremendous inner tranquility. Alike with those of Massive Attack and a slower rendition of The Chemical Brothers, this non-lyrical album leaves the listener with nothing short of a created painting of both harmonious sound, and tremendous beat fluctuations. Upon listening to this album, I realized that self expression never needed a language. The true expression is only within the eye of the beholder.

Open Road Music.......2003-05-26

This was actually the first Roots of Orchis alblum I bought. I heard them on the internet and took a chance. They make solid music, and if you like post rock, I see no reason for you not to like this CD.

A PLUS..........2005-10-31

My first thought after hearing this band was, "they were ok". Then after listening to the cd again, it was "hmm..." Now after owning the cd for a couple months, it pretty much finds its way back into my cd player on a regular basis. Definately a great band with a unique sound. I tried so hard to compare them with others, but so far, their pretty much in a class of their own. If I had to, I'd say they sound a little bit along the lines of "Lync" meets "At the Drive In".

If you enjoy bands like Mineral, Boys Life and Christie Front Drive then you need to get this album, simply amazing composition ahead of modern music, might take you a couple times to feel it but its sooo there.
