2 out of 5 stars The Nifty Nineties .......2007-04-05

This a great mix of 1990's songs! Lots of great stuff, and none of the fluff!

2 out of 5 stars Where are all the ground breaking Artists!!!!! 2 and a half stars!! im being generous!.......2006-06-04

this cd managed to pick out one hit wonder songs. but how about smashing pumpkins, nirvana, or pearl jam even!!!!??? im also a 70's baby so my highlights of high school were goin to irving plaza right after school, to see great bands like stp,nirvana,rage....... these bands made an impact on the 90's era of alternative scene!
i hope someone truly comes together with at least a double cd of nothing but great stuff... until then ill be listening to my old cds.

4 out of 5 stars Basic Memory Lane.......2006-05-07

These are really great songs if you remember them or just want some older Alternative rock.
However, how in the world can they make a 90's compilation and not include the band Bush?? Actually, No Doubt was also a radio airwave favorite before they went too R&B.

This compilation is sadly lacking some major moments from the 90's, and a couple of songs on there I vaguely remember hearing, but don't really stand out enough to put them on a CD suming up a decade of great music.

4 out of 5 stars Good Start.......2004-10-26

Definately a good start for a 90s collection. Afew that the other review didnt mention as missing that I felt i should point out : Matchbox 20, Third Eye Blind, Incubus, and Fuel. Then the hundreds of bands that nobody remembers...

1 out of 5 stars Sorry.......2004-05-31

Sorry, but you can't say "90's Rock" without Green Day... nice try though.

5 out of 5 stars Body Moves: Non Stop Disco volume 1.......2007-05-27

I guess I was looking for something different than the other girls were looking for. I LOVE this CD. I go to an exercise class every day and this gets my blood pumping more than the music they play there.
When I put it on at home, I fly through the work that needs doing because of the beat. My adrenalin really gets pumping. I just bought the second disc in this collection.
Depressed? Throw this one on and you will feel great. Take it from one who knows.
And the music is fun to listen to.

1 out of 5 stars aerobic music that didnt work.......2007-05-15

I was disappointed when I found that I couldnt use this CD in my aerobic class. It says it is non-stop, yes, but it doesnt flow from one song to the other with the proper 32 ct beat. I like the music but that doesnt matter when I cant use it for what it was intended for.
Very disappointing.

1 out of 5 stars not worth it.......2006-05-05

the music was so slow paced, there is no way you can use this cd for a cardio workout. not worth a penny.

1 out of 5 stars Body Moves.......2005-12-12

Pathetic for a cardio workout tape. I would like to see Amazon start noting the BPM on workout CD's.

4 out of 5 stars fun music.......2005-08-22

I bought this CD to jog to and I like it. The songs are fun and upbeat. What I like best about it, is that there is no breaks between songs, it goes from one song right into the next one. It would make a great CD for an aerobics class also.

4 out of 5 stars better than expected.......2007-05-13

i thought these guys were just a one hit wonder with "tainted love" but they actually had two other decent 80's esque songs, "sex dwarf" and "chips on my shoulder". i only have one problem regarding "tainted love". i been trying to look for a perfect radio version of the song, the radio version on this cd is too short and the original is too long. if they could make a strapped down version and cut out some of the instrumentral in the middle of the song, we might have a perfect song.

needless to say, a fairly decent cd, worth picking up if you are an 80's fan

5 out of 5 stars I Thought I Was The Only One To Discover This Treasure.......2006-02-16

Omly one person that reviewed this CD liked "Tainted Love" exclusively. Another surprise in a list of surprises from others reaction to this CD. I always wonder why their greatest hits packages only contain a few songs from this CD until I realized you would have to include the whole thing to satisfy fans. Therefore it is much better to load the greatest hits packages with more obscure songs from other releases, highlights from less consistent CD's, along with unreleased songs, if possible. Then fans can buy a greatest hits CD and this one and get a complete collection of Soft Cell's music, which stands with the best from any group. Their magic comes in that their music takes you into their world and even though it is filled with depression and futility it is exciting when you observe it rather than experience it. I can easily listen to this CD from beginning to end, but I do have a slightly different view of this CD, than others that reviewed it. I still love it to death, but to me "Sex Dwarf" is entertaining only because of the lyrics, and is, to me, the least musical song on the CD. I also find "Secret Life" to be a highlight among a CD of highlights. It is 3 in the afternoon now so I do have to get up sometime. I better start drinking so I can get rid of this hangover and face the same miserable people I hangout with everyday. A truly unique set of fun music.

5 out of 5 stars Classic Synth Pop album!.......2005-10-27

Most people know Soft Cell for Tainted Love but they had so many more songs that were just as good if not better than Tainted Love. Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret is the classic synth pop/new wave album Tainted Love comes off of but the album contains such cult hits as Sex Dwarf (my favorite as I heard it thousands of times on LIVE 105 in San Francisco in the 80's and into the 90's), Seedy Films which was recently remade by the DMX Krew (they did a really upbeat version while the whole Electroclash sound was happening), Bedsitter and Say Hello Wave Goodbye. Of course this album also contains the extended version of Tainted Love with Where Did Our Love Go. An excellent version worth listening to over and over again. I think this album is underrated given the fact that Tainted Love has been such a HUGE hit the rest of the tracks on here should be given the same praise as Tainted Love has. Excellent release and worth owning and adding to any 80's collection.

5 out of 5 stars Rahhhhh.......2005-04-20

This album is well good. Sex Dwarf is hilarious and well funky. Should be included on more "best of" lists and that kind of silliness. They'd be less silly were it on there, obviously. I am also partial to the cut Chip on My Shoulder, normally considered a mediocre one. Ball went on to be a bit annoying in The Grid.

4 out of 5 stars Is it really non-stop?......Word!.......2003-07-02

Im sure at this point, there's about 100 "old school" rap compilations out there, but as far as I can tell, this is one of the best. It's from the era after early 80's breakdance rap, and before the early 90's gangsta rap. When you got "Jump", "It's Tricky", and "It Takes Two" on one disc, you know it's good. Plus "Humpty Dance", "O.P.P.", and "Me Myself and I". This would be the bomb if it included "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss", "I got a Man", and "Bust a Move", but no. This also comes in a 2-cd set, but the best of that is all here. Another great collection is "Millennium Hip-Hop Party". It's just as dope.

4 out of 5 stars One Disc Is Better Than Two.......2001-07-22

Why buy a 2-disc compilation of hip-hop hits when the best ones are one a 1-disc set? This one-disc "streamlined" version has the best of the 2 disc set on it. The only song I relly don't care for is "Summertime"(I've heard it WAY TOO MANY TIMES). Great songs on this disc include "The Humpty Dance"(Digital Underground), "Push It"(Salt-N-Papa), and "Iesha"(Another Bad Creation). So skip the filler of the 2-disc set and purchase the best of the bunch. This is a must for any old-school hip-hop party. I absolutly adore it!:)

3 out of 5 stars Indifferent anthology.......2001-07-10

Some good tracks & some bad (does anyone want to hear "2 Legit to Quit" anymore?) make for a decent but uninspiring collection. Hip-hop dabblers will be better served with "Millennium Hip-Hop Party" or "Monster Rap".

3 out of 5 stars Out of Nowhere Smash.......2004-07-05

I remember when I first saw the video for this song. I thought it was pure crap! But then I heard the song on the radio and fell in love with it. I was only 9 years old at the time, and I wanted to go to the store and buy this CD myself. This was the first CD I ever bought, and I still have it. Although the non-Macarena songs aren't very good and hearing Macarena over and over kind of gets old, this CD is still a lot of fun to listen to. It's impossible to listen to and not want to do the dance.

Great one hit wonder. But what a winner, these older guys were hip to the jive, and could really get down with the best of them.

Is music for a good cause a good cause for music? Not really, if you expect artistry. But this smorgasbord of popular international musical stars brings together extreme musical genres for an excellent purpose, and is enjoyable enough for almost anyone. Pavarotti's relaxed and buoyant leadership and still gorgeous tenor add beauty to the rock/pop selections. Trisha Yearwood, Celine Dion, and Stevie Wonder impressively hold their own against Opera Spice; but the other artists pale against the master's presence. The Spice Girls will never be confused with Anonymous 4; Zucchero's growling is scary; Florent Pagny exemplifies French rock; and Pino Daniele's breathy tenor is mellow and soothing. Best for those wanting to experience Pavarotti's vocal beauty in a more popular idiom. --Barbara Eisner Bayer

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A Superb Collection of Music.......2002-11-14

As a musician, I first ran into this disk as a PBS broadcast. What caught my ear was that every song in the concert has "the groove." Other than a children's choral cut, not a single song in the entire collection has a flaw. You'd think the Spice Girls would be a silly addition to the concert, but they do a tremendous job. Each artist appears twice, usually with Pavaotti in one of their songs, sometimes twice. Vanessa Williams is Hot! and does an incredible dance number. The engineering is excellent, with solid side-to-side separation for a really "big" sound. All in all, this is one of the favorite CDs in my music library.

5 out of 5 stars This is a delightful combination of music talents to enjoy!.......1999-04-01

We first saw Pavarotti and Friends on Public Television as a fundraising event. We found the CD and especially love to listen to this CD in our car which has a great sound system. Each vocalist is so special and you will be singing along with them after a couple of plays!

5 out of 5 stars This will tenderize your heart........1999-03-07

Brilliant talent for needy children, that touches the soul, and sets it on fire. Your tears will soak your socks. James

5 out of 5 stars Phenomenal !! A must have for any music library........1998-12-29

A most wonderful gathering of some of the world's greatest vocalists. Such a unique blend of international Modern & Classical. If one were to put to test the ability of a vocalist to adapt to a variety of melodies, this is it. Grab your lover and take a trip in their arms with this CD!!

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding Music, bringing Pavarotti to new heights........1998-12-06

Easily the best in the Pavarotti & Friends series. Always an artist on the cutting edge, with this album, Pavarotti's work will have great appeal to his fans and to scores of new enthusiasts. His duets with the Spice Girls, Vanessa Williams, Zucchero, and Stevie Wonder make it obvious that his voice has adaptability and a passion that takes it into many musical genres with ease. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Sting once commented that great music occurs in the "synaptic gaps" where many different styles come together - this is an album that epitomizes the concept. Neopolitan music is a folk music in Italy, with overtones of American folk/country/jazz/rock, and Pavarotti is the Neopolitan master. This is a perfect fit of artists and selected titles. Earlier combinations of artists in this series were often much too somber, much less fun. Give this one to your teens or your great grandmother ... they'll find they have more musical tastes in common than they'd have ever imagined.

5 out of 5 stars Classic!!.......2006-02-27

No talking, just non-stop beats...the way it should be!! Classic...some hard to find, some not, mixed in with a coupla newer beats..newer meaning post 80s. if you're givin' a old school party...excellent backdrop music...the crowd will either be dancing to the sounds or saying..."dam haven't heard that in a while!!"....it's ALL good.

2 out of 5 stars What's up with this?.......2004-12-19

This CD has some good songs on it, but the majority of them are less than 2 minutes! It's kind of a rip off since the songs are much shorter than I expected. They are mixed together, and sometimes a song is so short that the one before it is still fading out by the time the song after it has started! If you don't mind really short songs, buy this, but I wouldn't recommend it otherwise.

5 out of 5 stars HOUSE MIX AWESOME!!! 6 STARS!!!.......2004-10-15

I gave this killer cd with 57 jams 6 stars! Great pounding beats! Go run and buy this now! These are all the original house killers that first came out. Really bad Chicago and New York street jams type of music from back in the days!!!

5 out of 5 stars Jeffrey's Review.......2003-11-08

When I lived in Los Angeles there was a club I used to go to in Hollywood called Circus Disco back in the eighties, and they would play the best in High Energy Music, and some of the music on this CD reminds me of Circus Disco. It's been long closed down now, and I don't live in Los Angeles anymore but let me tell you those were the day's when my people the Latino's had the disco circuit. We were called Cha Cha's, and we showed it. I hope that era between 1982 thru 1987 will make a come back.

4 out of 5 stars A decent effort...........2006-12-25

A decent to somewhat good CD from TNA wrestling, the prequel tracks 1, 4, 8, 11, 14, 20, are okay. The best are Track 2: Sting, Track 5: Samoa Joe, Track 10: AJ Styles and Track 21: Christian Cage.
The rest of the tracks are okay, with the exception of Track 6: Christy Hemme-Society Box, which isn't very good to say the least.
It's a decent CD, nothing more nothing less. It's worth a purchase if the price is right ($6-10, sounds right) but not more than that.

5 out of 5 stars Vol 3: A vast improvement over the last two.......2006-12-10

This is the third volume of TNA's theme song's and is easily the best. While the other two are little known (they were released while TNA was having weekly PPV's) This one hit's the nail on the head. Not only do you get the typical themes of stars like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Christian Cage, Raven, and Jeff Jarret, but you also get the special prequel music from Victory Road 2006. If your a fan of TNA this disc is a must.

4 out of 5 stars Except for one track a great disk........2006-12-10

I liked this disk. It has the entrance music of the stars of TNA and some cool remixes. That being said the Christy Hemme song was not the greatest. It would be the only track I would scratch my head at wondering how it got on the disk. I would say that all the entrance music is cool and is uncut.

1 out of 5 stars Beware! Terrible CD!.......2006-12-08

Let me just say this is TNA's lame attempt to copy everything WWE does. Christy Hemme has by far the worst singing voice I have ever heard in my entire life. The woman cannot sing! This cd is filled with bad tracks and is an overall mess. Stay away from this cd and go buy a WWE cd cause those are the quality ones.

4 out of 5 stars you'll get no soft sell from this Soft Cell!.......2002-10-18

Very very meaty big and bouncy release from Soft Cell - the original EP was released before tainted love and was very well received by college radio. Danceable pop and pretty steamy lyrics; overall a hoot and a lot of fun to listen to and remember when our hair was big, our pants were tight and made outta leather!

5 out of 5 stars A fabulous, kinky romp into Clubland with two English boys.......1998-10-22

Soft Cell, best-known for their stark, yet captivating electronic soul cover "Tainted Love", took a trip (literally!) to New York City to remix some of their material in 1982. Instead of simply extending their songs (sadly, most modern electronic artists give up their heart and soul by letting TOTALLY UNRELATED "artists" remix their singles-check out Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys and Erasure's mixes: Where are the original songs? Where are the original artists? Yuck.) Soft Cell took their material into their OWN hands, and totally reinvented some of their best-known songs (except "Tainted Love"). Instead of the two-minute Soft Cell tracks, we are presented with six lengthy creations, each as exciting as the next. David Ball's keyboards pulse, pump, crunch and bleep to create a carnival-like madhouse of frenzied frolicking, which vocalist Marc Almond luxuriates in. Soft Cell create a world of neon bars and backrooms, with characters that live their lives with hedonistic abandon. Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing throws all cares to the wind, and shamelessly spins the COOLEST dance music *ever* created in the 1980's. Listening to this album now, it is hard to imagine that it was made seventeen years ago. Dave and Marc were very ahead of the pack, and this hypnotic collection of dance mixes brings the listener into an uninhibited land of fantasy and fun. The cover of NON-STOP ECSTATIC DANCING says it all. David Ball-cool, collected, and brimming with GQ style, stands beside Marc Almond, the little diva with more *glamour* than you can shake a whip at, hint at a fantastic world of twilight and sleaze. Marc grins beside an Adult Cinema Emporium in Times Square, while Dave stands by in leather, stoic and staring. I WANT TO PEEK INTO THEIR WORLD! "Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing" is a nice place to start! This edition features some original mixes. A must-have for anyone interested in QUALITY electronic music.
