About the Artist
Paulo Mattioli was born in 1956 with a natural ability to drum, playing bongos at the age of 6 and rum set at the age of 7. He excelled in his public performances on percussion both in school and in his own bands. He graduated with honors from University of California, San Diego in 1984, receiving a scholarship award to complete research on the African drum language. Since graduation, he has performed and recorded with the top artists from "Les Ballets Africains.". He also has perfomred with "Sting" , "Vinx", and Kenny Loggins, as well as his own group, "Drums of Fire". He continues to lead the ever popular "Expression Sessions" drumming and dance workshops, and is world renown builder of fine African instruments.
