Product Description
The recitation and chanting of mantras (invocations to enlightened energies) is a simple but powerful Tibetan Buddhist tantric practice. The sacred syllables of mantras are magical in their ability to access creative powers and transform inner and outer worlds. They enable you to awaken your own spiritual potential by internalizing transcendental qualities. In Tibetan Buddhism all the important meditational deities (embodied aspects of enlightenment) as well as Buddhist luminaries have their own specific mystical communication with these deities and spiritual masters. It also enables the meditator to call upon the immense resources of deities and spiritual masters, and project the power of the mantra outward, thereby making it a blessing to all. A purity of mind and sincerity of heart makes mantra practice possible; repetition of a mantra through chanting deepens and magnifies its powers.

"Om Mani Padme Hum" is a mantra sacred to the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, known in Tibet as Chenrezi. Chenrezi is the embodiment of universal compassion. Of the thousands of mantras that exist, this mantra is the most popular mantra in Tibetan Buddhism. It is said that all the teachings and blessings of the Buddha are contained in Chenrezi's mantra.

"Om Ah Hum Vajra Guru Padma Siddhi Hum" is a mantra dedicated to Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche. He is renowned for his suppression of malevolent spirits, and then converting them to Buddhism. As a founder of Buddhism in Tibet he is venerated as a buddha, and is considered second only to Shakyamuni Buddha. This mantra invokes Padmasambhava to bless us and grant us divine powers and realizations.

This is a powerful CD! It is wonderful to listen to while washing the dishes, sitting in traffic or quietly meditating. The mantras and rhythms of old world Tibet are gently supported by western piano and flute. Background vocals are strong yet soothing-invoking real spirituality at its best.
Listening to this CD in my car helps me to keep daily obligations and spiritual practice balanced. Even in the worse Seattle traffic jams, I can remain calm, patient, peaceful and even compassionate.
But when my six year old daughter began to request it regularly, I realized just how powerful this CD actually is.
