About the Artist
Moving from behind the scenes and solely wearing the hat of producer, John Redmon comes out strong with his long-awaited CD single release "Broken Wings" feat. LeeRoy Russell & The Nashville String Machine.

It’s been over 6 years since Mr. Redmon released his debut album "You Made the Difference" released in August 1995. Mr. Redmon recounts, "I think the biggest ‘hit’ on my first project was I’m a Miracle [co-written by former classmate Vila Germany]. I did it as a duet with Patricia Daniels. Patricia was actually appearing on the Maury Povich Show in June 1996 and asked could she sing it. I couldn’t believe it when I received a contract from Paramount Pictures in the mail for its use. I was and still am so grateful to the Lord. Isn't that just like God? Going beyond our highest thoughts and fondest dreams".

Mr. Redmon expounds on the CD Single, Broken Wings. "I've found that so many people are holding on to and living in a past full of regrets causing the demise of any ray of hope for their future visions and dreams. How many times have I heard throughout the years statements like: I should have never dropped out of school, or I never should have become a parent, or I can't trust anyone because I was abused at an early age or How can I do that when all the odds are against me?

It's time to stop living in regrets, excuses, past failures, and broken dreams. It's time to release the past and cling to the future. If you want to use the past in any way, use it only as a learning tool. Never linger in your past. How can you look ahead toward a bright future when your head is continually looking backward in the night. The song ends with a ray of hope.

"Soaring higher ever than I did before. I can see over the mountains and so much more"...

It's a story line that you can follow. What happened during the song that made such a broken beginning end on such a dramatic climax of hope? Listen and find out!"

Mr. Redmon is no stranger to the Gospel music industry. As record producer and president of Reaching Records, he has had the responsibility and privilege to produce the compilation CD "A Woman’s Journey" released March 2001 on his label. The project includes: Vickie Winans and Brenda Nicholas as guest artists. Mr. Redmon states, "I think the most popular track was the cover that we did to the Yolanda Adam’s hit The Battle is the Lord’s. That is so funny because, Sallye Jones [the lead singer of the song] and I didn’t even plan on recording that song. We had another song already done for the album, but we understand now that God had another plan." Mr. Redmon can be heard on this album on background vocals on the tracks: Praise the Lord!, Where Were You?, The Battle is the Lord’s, and lead vocals on Can You Take This Pain Away [a musical drama with Lorrie Lyles].

1 out of 5 stars A Forgetful Album - Fortunately!.......2001-12-15

I heard a recording of a song called "Broken Wings." It was a beautiful religious-type song. I heard it on the radio and, looking it up on the web, this album was the only reference I found to "Broken Wings." I endured one listen and looked around the room for some sharp object with which I could puncture my eardrums. Fortunately, nothing immediately came to hand and my hearing lives on to hear other material. Forget this group and this album (I found that easy to do!). If you ever hear the "Broken Wings" thing I wanted, please be in touch.

5 out of 5 stars A cool collection of their best loved songs!.......2000-10-29

It's a shame that Mr. Mister didn't make too many cds! If they would have stayed together a little longer, their music would have really kicked in! I love "Hunters of the Night". Indeed, finding love from fans is what they needed more of. "Broken Wings" is one of their best loved songs. It can really paint pictures. I recited the chorus to one of my customers and he said it was beautiful. I think Mr. Mister's music has a lot of sounds that meant cool and I hope the few cds that they have made will be listened and enjoyed for many years to come. Thanks, guys!

3 out of 5 stars the lonely "Fly".......2000-06-21

Mr. Mister stopped on music of "fatha" design; Broken Wings is the soundtrack of a generation. The 80's leave their hearts on broken wings and sometimes, when you listen this track, you can imagine - what's going on? - a band of one music only? A mistake or a divine inspiration? MAke your choice.....

3 out of 5 stars This is a very unusual cd, buy it and you will see why.............2000-09-20

This cd is a little different from most. Let me explain! This cd has a great mixture of several types of music. This cd features popular, classical, sacred, and wedding music. What a treat it is to have all these beautuful songs together on one cd.

The main concern I have for this cd is the fact that some of the arrangements were not up to par. As you will see, all songs are not ideal for harp arrangements. I liked about half of the songs performed on this cd. I feel like the song selection could have been a little bit better. If that had happened, I think this would have been an outstanding cd.

I Would Like To Recommend This Cd

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars A blast from the past.......2004-03-06

Mr Mister were the first band I liked enough to spend money on, and though my tastes have completely changed since then, I still can't resist a singalong to my old faves. Mr Mister, although slightly preposterous, pompous (especially the third album) and still known really only for "Broken Wings", knew how to write an energetic, dynamic and strangely funky tune, with a smidgeon of lyrical interest that should be no embarrassment to anyone who likes them.

5 out of 5 stars Mr.Mister is great 80's music!.......1999-05-24

Mr.Mister has that 80's taste I like. This album is worth the money. It has one song from Mr.Mister's first album (I wear the Face) and a lot from their third and last album (Go On) which both albums are out of print. I really enjoyed this Album very much because it's not availible in the us, only in the UK where it was made. It's one the best 80's band ever!

4 out of 5 stars 'broken lines' of time.......1999-02-16

mr. mister send to us a sort of hope, a missing love, something to remember, a "broken hopes" of the only thing that hurts : love and time. What only 'remains out' to me, like we say in NYork, go ahead boy, time's up!!! and love will be short. That's it...

5 out of 5 stars Is it love what you're running after?.......1999-01-24

The first time I heard Mr. Mr., I could really apreciate the essence of their music, get in touch with the feeling of an old fashioned emotion, L-O-V-E, because of the meaning of the lyrics and the spiritual concept of their rythm.

      Album Description

ON BROKEN WINGS hail from the cold streets of Boston, MA. Winter would be the fitting season to encapsulate the band's sound. OBW create a mood of hostility and despair with their self-labelled brand of "mosh-metal." What sets OBW apart from the pack is the atmosphere which haunts each song, punctuated by vocalist Jonathan Blake's range. In one moment, Blake is the demon in your head, while in the next he is showing off his creative sense of melody. Going Down 4 brand new songs combined with their previously self released CD "Number One Beautiful". It shines light on what is to come for ON BROKEN WINGS in 2007 and beyond.

      3 out of 5 stars Straightforward.......2005-12-13

This album is pretty up front - lots of breakdowns and riffage going on, even some singing at points. What really makes this album sound like its own is the production - it sounds rather raw, but everything comes in crystal clear, giving it this warm, analogish sound. The music is breakdown-happy, with lots of downtuned riffs and even some singing to boot. The only problems with this record are that most of the songs sort of just blend together...allowing each song to lose some of its "identity" if you will. Also, some of the breakdowns are very bland - that simple chug chug chug is great sometimes, but it doesn't need to be in every song. However, that doesn't mean it's totally generic - this is a strong release by a great band who I very much want to see in a live setting in the near future. Top songs include "Suffer", "Pushing Up Daisies", "More Than Life", and the re-recorded "I Do My Crosswords in Pen".

4 out of 5 stars Good but not great.......2005-10-08

I love OBW and couldn't wait to get their new labum. I listened to it and thought to myself that it all sounds like 1 big song. The album is heavy and full of breakdowns but even with the minor singing parts this album feels to repetitive. If you like OBW's old cd you'll like this one also.

5 out of 5 stars I gotta give it five stars.......2005-09-29

This album may be more like 4 1/2 stars just because it doesn't top the brilliance of "Some of Us May Never See the World", however this is a very solid breakdown heavy album. The first two tracks sound a lot like typical OBW except faster, heavier and more breakdowns. Check out the last breakdown at the end of "Pushing Up Daisies" for true violent breakdown action. The next track "More than Life" shows off OBW's emo side, which was very present on "#1 Beautiful". Yet again OBW re-does their famous songs "I Do My Crosswords in Pen", and "Listless" with the production better than ever, and the sound heavier than ever. The second half of the CD is better with some of the most brutal mosh attacks by OBW ever, check out "Tongue in Teeth", "Hell or High Water", and "Deadpool" to see what I'm talking about. All in all, this is a solid mosh heavy disc from OBW. My only complaint would be I wish they added more to their sound, as this sounds a lot like their old CD. However, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and this is a great album for picking a fight with a stranger to.

      1 out of 5 stars man, I'm rather dissapointed.......2005-08-18

While I thought "Some of Us..." was quite decent, I just wouldn't be able to say the same for thier new effort, I would feel like a liar and a sinner if I did. So I must be honest, thier new cd sucks... it sucks ass. I couldn't believe "more than life" I heard singing in it I'm like "f*** this! Singing, aw this sounds so (W)ussy." Well the fellas must have realized it too cause they tried to cram as many "mashin'" parts to thier songs as they could, it really just sounds the same the whole entire album man. I just can't see much purpose in this weak and contrived hardcore music, I mean man what does this have to do with the greats? How could you even like this man? Hawdcore is pretty sweet some times and some times it's just rank. This is a boring album that I'm sure any hoodie wearing hooligan would just embrace cause it's so "metal", oh don't make me swoon. Whatever the hell you want to call this "music", moshcore, metalcore, metal, hardcore, melodic hardcore/metal... whatever you call it, it sucks! If you wanna practice your "moves" before the show well borrow this from a friend, I guess that would be something useful for it. I can imagine MTV playing this during the "angry" parts on Real World (ugh). Don't buy this.

      5 out of 5 stars excellant!!!!!.......2005-07-31

This cd kicks ass.The vocals are amazing. This is one of my favorite metalcore cd so far this year.

      3 out of 5 stars Decent stuff....Really bad dudes.......2006-08-08

This album isn't really bad as far as modern metalcore goes. Nothing fantastic at all; a lot of the other people reviewing this album make it out like On Broken Wings is about to explode into something huge and amazing. That is really not true. Right now, they are as big as they can hope to ever be.

Bottom line is, this stuff is okay. Nothing really original, but decent. However, I strongly advise against buying this. Get it somewhere else. Don't give your money to these jerks. Their shows are ridiculous and they are all about beating kids up. In Virginia Beach they annhilated half of the kids who came out to see them, and in exchange lost quite a few teeth. Some of the local kids nearly beat their roadie to death, and they all deserved what they got.

In all, these guys are huge tools, and their music is nothing spectacular.

5 out of 5 stars Stands Out For Once.......2006-02-07

Only one song got me hooked to this album like a fat kid to cake. This isn't an ordinary metalcore band. The band performs breakdowns that aren't just open C notes for a change, and the vocals tend to stand out. The opening to "Listless" is just catchy as hell, and "I Do My Crosswords In Pen" goes through time changes like no other. I recommend this over their new release, which is O.K., but doesn't even match to this underrated classic.

4 out of 5 stars not original but who is these days.......2005-06-16

This might not be original material and the recording could have been better but they know alot more about rythm and groove then most metalcore bands. This cd is all out and take no prisoners, relentless mosh with chuggy breakdowns, all around great guitars, drums, bass, vocals the works. deathcore + metalcore = moshpits

      have good mosh pitting!!!

      1 out of 5 stars Booooooring.......2005-05-19

This is one of the most dull cds ive ever heard. Its so repetitive. I do my crosswords in pen is half decent aswell as the little rap Ashton Kutcher....., sorry Jonathan Blake, the singer, does at the end.

I sold mine on ebay, i suggest you try and borrow it or burn it off a friend first.

Plus, as im sure youve heard, they dont seem to be nice dudes. I know thats not to do with their music, but why give your money to jocks who like to bully people at shows?

      5 out of 5 stars good stuff.......2005-01-15

if you like heavy music you'll like it period.

oh, and don't listen to that dude from khione incarnate, they sound nothing like obw, they suck ass too.

4 out of 5 stars Great drumming holds together this trippy Art Rock delight.......2004-05-17

I had just been listening to some 60s stuff when Broken Spirit arrived: Small Faces, Pink Floyd, Spirit, The Who, so I was ready for new sounds in a similar vein. The drumming was particularly powerful, elegant and articulate, holding the songs together. Lazy drummers can break a band. Lead singer takes some getting used to; he sounds strained at times (hence, 4 stars not 5). Reverb and other trippy effects vibrated my whole house, very lush, lots of fun! Glad they are exploring a genre which surprisingly still holds a lot of promise. I would consider this to be Art Rock, definitely homage to Pink Floyd. I look forward to further efforts.

3 out of 5 stars Okay Album From Great Label (2.5/5).......2004-05-13

Alien8 Recordings has become one of my favorite labels over the past few years. Their name has become synonymous with good experimental music. With their latest act, Soft Canyon, the label is focusing more on the psychedelic rock they've released in the past, mostly similar to that of Acid Mother's Temple. Soft Canyon is a band of rock musicians that have recently sprouted from their former band named Tricky Woo. They come from Montreal, Canada and appear to be an unusual choice for their new label.

The comparisons are easy when discussing Broken Spirit, I Will Mend Your Wings. Late sixties/early seventies psych-rock is the basic genre that is explored here. Influences range anywhere from early Pink Floyd to even more current acts like The Warlocks. The band uses several guitars to give their sound a richer tone. As for the rest of the setup, well, it's pretty characteristic: drums, bass, and vocals.

Soft Canyon comes across as a band that simply enjoys the basic, fun-loving old days of rock-n-roll. As the album progresses, it slowly becomes richer with texture, but never really goes as far as it should. The first three tracks seem to have nothing that really makes the album memorable. However, once "Rare Bird Indeed" begins, things start to warm up and lead down a path that should have been explored sooner. The last track, "We Threw Our Love Into the Universe" is undoubtedly the shining moment here. It's the longest track and one that captures the true essence of what Broken Wings could have been had this been the desired focal point.

Most importantly, there is just not much in the way of "psychedelia" as an overall album, which I believe is the main intent behind the album. The music is great for about the last ten minutes, but not enough to stand up to the many other incredibly experimental works from Alien8 Recordings or the thousands of other similar albums that have come before it
