Excellent versions of classic Egyptian belly dance music, including fun drum solos. Perfect for dancing, great for listening. This CD - and the rest of the series - belongs in the collection of every fan of Middle Eastern Music and dance.

Delicious, lovely Egyptian classical & folkloric.......2002-05-07

This is on my top 10 list of CD's that I recommend to students and colleagues in the Middle Eastern dance community. Lovers of international music in the classical vein will also appreciate the orchestral arrangements, lush sound, and richly eloquent melodies and rhythms of Egyptian music. This CD also includes several folkloric pieces, performed by full orchestra. My favourite piece: "Mashaal". Excellent sound quality that records well for dancers using it performance. This is part of a series of equally wonderful CD's--5 volumes so far.

fabulous classic egyptian dance.......2002-12-31

I purchased this Cd while learning a choroegraph to one of the drum solos. Im sure glad this Cd is part of my collection now, there are so many interesting beats and instruments used in the music. It was quite helpful for practice with my zills. If you like classical egyptian music, you should buy this Cd.

Mohktar Al Said has worked as a musical director and composed pieces for famous Egyptian dancers such as Fifi Abdo and Dina. This CD is a collection of dance compositions played in the modern classical, and baladi(country), styles. Violins and a synthesiser/accordion are used on some tracks along with the trad drums, flute, and strings. Two of the baladi tracks - one trad and one by Said - use a mizmar(Egyptian folk oboe). Good dance pieces, including an instrumental version of Lissa Fakir, and 2 drum solos played by Khamis Henkesh. Keyboard is featured in many tracks, 3 of the pieces composed by Said explore the use of sounds made possible by synthesiser, this may be less attractive to those who like acoustic arabic music.
