Editorial Reviews
D'Arez has studied at the Milwaukee Conservatory of Music with an emphasis in the classical discipline of guitar. In addition, he has studied classical guitar with the international master guitarist James Yoghourijian. On of his instruments was handmade specifically for him by luthier Robert Pascoe. The instrument has allowed D'Arez to develop a style that emphasizes originality, technique and is fashioned after the arts. Live performances in D'Arez's career included such venues as the Milwaukee Performing Arts Center and the Goodman Theater in Chicago accompanying a contemporary opera. D'Arez's original melodies in live performances have also been captured in his recordings. His first release, "From Me To You". displays a fusion of jazz, classical and Eastern musical styles. This was followed by "Another Sunset" and as a guest artist on "A Celebration of Music: Mad In Waukesha" on which D'Arez is included with such diverse Waukesha artistic talents as the BoDeans and the legendary Les Paul. D'Arez has just released "Gourmet Guitar" which has received international acclaim and excellent reviews.

This is a gem I have treasured for years........2006-08-10
The ultimate live performance for Shearing and Torme........2006-06-30
In this vibrant live performance, both Torme and Shearing are relaxed, more interested in communicating with the audience and each other than in special effects and pyrotechnics. This approach is epitomized in the final track, "Little Man You've Had a Busy Day," an unabashedly sentimental song which could not be farther from the typical wild, grand finale for live CDs--a song presented softly, quietly, and slowly. Intimacy is the watchword here, with Torme and Shearing concentrating on mood, atmosphere, and creative interpretation, rather than on showmanship.
This is not to say that the CD lacks showmanship! "Out of this World" begins with a haunting piano solo by Shearing and gains power when Torme enters and sings in dissonance to the piano, more slowly than normal, lush in sound and totally controlled. Shearing solos on "Someday I'll find You," an unusual, funky track, cheerful and upbeat (and written, surprisingly, by Noel Coward)--and in "Anyone Can Whistle/A Tune for Humming," filled with subtle changes in melody and mood. Torme and Shearing engage in delightful, humorous banter in a medley of six songs in "New York, New York," in which Torme leads the audience to expect a Sinatra-style extravaganza through the familiar, repeating honky-tonk intro, then switches to "Me and My Gal," in the same tempo and key.
With a wonderful balance of songs--slow, moody tracks alternating with upbeat, sprightly melodies--the CD is full of creative jazz interpretations and remarkably little scat. "Since I Fell For You," presented as a funky blues song, and the upbeat, syncopated "The Way You Look Tonight," one of the few songs with scat, are standouts. With Torme's beautiful sound and sensitive interpretations (reminiscent of his earlier recordings as a crooner, on CDs such as "The London Sessions"), this album is an intimate live performance in which two of the greats make some of their most beautiful music together, and do it in jazz. n Mary Whipple
TORME AND SHEARING - A GREATER SUM OF EACH OTHER.......2005-09-19
One of the best Live performances you'll experience!.......2005-01-06
Fabulous!.......2003-12-13
Torme's remarkable vioce and Shearing's elegant piano are a combination not to be trifled with. Torme's deceptively easy delivery can sometimes belie his skills, but in this effort they are perfectly mated with Shearing's understated work. The result is that rare unexplainable gem when the sum is infinitely greater than the parts.
Listen to "Midnight Sun" and be awed.

...and 1/2...Exhilarating and heartfelt gospel messages, complemented by some adept picking.......2005-11-25
Mount Zion is Russ Weeks, Steve West, Tyler Weeks, and Roger Matthews. Russ Weeks is a long-time bluegrass musician who plays guitar, mandolin, fiddle and sings most of the lead vocals. Steve West (banjo, mandolin) has four decades of performing experience, with 30 years as a professional "country show" musician and owner in Central Missouri. In concert, their teen-aged bass player and singer Tyler Weeks occasionally dons the guitar and sings lead for a number during a Mount Zion set. Tyler Weeks has an exceptional bass voice. Roger Matthews is also an excellent musician with decades of experience playing banjo and guitar, and singing baritone. He co-founded the group, Radio Flyer, with Irl Hees in the 1970s, and Matthews has performed for the past several years with Midnight Flight.
Mount Zion gets much of their inspiration from the award-winning bluegrass gospel group, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver. They are highly entertaining and professional. Mount Zion leaves us with some exhilarating and heartfelt gospel messages, complemented by some adept picking. I can tell that their repertoire would be well received at both churches and festivals. Their ministry of music is characterized by a rousing and spirited sound. (Joe Ross, staff writer, Bluegrass Now)
