Customer Reviews:
Great songs from a great group.......2006-02-25
I have always loved the Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau and this album is truly representative of their work. Great tunes. Great group.
The Legacy Lives On.......2001-07-14
I basically bought this album for Ke Alaula but I found the other songs in the album every bit as enjoyable as the title track. This album has some of the very best songs that the Makaha Sons have come out with and its no wonder why they continue to be Hawaii's favorite group. The albums contains mostly contemporary Hawaiian music with a mix of more traditional songs. I was a bit surprised to see the ABBA song "I Have A Dream" included in the album and even more surprised at how beautifully the Makaha Sons version is performed. Put simple if your looking for some really decent Hawaiian music you need not look any further. The Makaha Sons as they are now known as have secured their place at the pinnacle of the Hawaiian music scene but a little history is necessary to clarify the groups name [...]
Makaha Sons Are One Of Hawaii's Best Vocal Groups!.......2000-08-20
I have been listening to Makaha Sons (of Ni'ihau) for years and enjoying all of their albums. Then one day I got a lucky chance to hear them live as Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau (at that time) with Moon and Israel and the whole group, while they played Ke Alaula for a keiki hula competition in Honolulu. Man, they had the entire audiance on their feet and everyone had "chicken skin". (goose bumps)at the end of the song. What a great performance!
If you enjoy the special vocal harmonizing for whitch this group is famous, you will love this album!!! Israel is gone now and will be missed, but the group under Moon's direction continues to be one of Hawaii's best contemporary performers today. You will enjoy this CD.
