About the Artist
Paul Aston, Composer/Acoustic Bass/Voice, has composed music for virtually every medium including Film, Television, Theater, Ballet, Chamber Opera and a wide range of Contemporary Music Ensembles.

Aston's newest work is for his group, Paul Aston Group. He is joined by four musicians who, through their own compositional backgrounds, bring a remarkable clarity of intent to his music. BAND_MEMBERS: Guilherme Franco (Percussion) known worldwide for his innovative role in the history of jazz percussion and his work with McCoy Tyner, Gato Barbieri and Keith Jarrett.

Steve Sacks (Soprano Sax) has performed, recorded and written for a wide variety of artists from Talking Heads, Airto Moreira, Tito Puente and Paquit d Rivera.

Alan Simon (Piano) a powerful and well rounded soloist and ensemble player. Simon has performed extensively with the likes of Dizzy Gillespei, Toots Thielemans and Lee Konitz to name a few.

John Bruschini (Acoustic/Electric Guitar) has enjoyed long fruitful tenures with the various ensembles of Cecil Taylor, Butch Morris, Mose Allison and many more.

Frank Coln, Manhattan Transfer, Herbie Hancock.. provides additional percussion and periodically joins the group in performance.

...... I picked up a copy of Paul Aston Group's CD - "Exactly where I am at this moment" The album caught my eye, as I was surfing through my usual look for something novel and fresh. The words "Contemporary Improvisational Chamber Jazz" secondly caught my attention, and the CD followed me home.

I listened to the album in its entirety with great enthusiasm - it must be some of the most innovative, contemporary jazz out at this moment. The overall production is nothing less than superb, and the group weaves through Paul Aston's original compositions with a dexterity that is awe inspiring - this CD is a true gem.
