Ya no me es desconocida..........2006-01-15
Sólo puedo decir que me ha gustado, que lo recomiendo a quien le guste de verdad la música celta.
you won't be disappointed!.......2004-09-22
Maggie Sansone is an incredible artist whose music stirs those with Celtic ancestry....and those without as well! This is one of her best and I have one for home and one for the road...she is SSSOOOOOOOO good....locals of Annapolis Md see her every year at the Renaissance Festival where she charms children, their parents, and grandparents....those lucky to study with her and those lucky to see her quick wit and musical talent in person are struck by her accessability and genuine involvement. Her cds are addictive, so be prepared to add to the first selection...Bonnie Rideout plays on several...gorgeous fiddle with the dulicimer...how can you resist????
Mysterious Mystical Celtic Music.......2004-05-28
Maggie Sansone is to the hammered dulcimer as Yitzak Perlman is to the violin or Yo Yo Ma is to the cello ... she is *that* special! The music on this CD is timeless and enchanting. One can almost feel the cool mist rising on the Moors or taste the salty air as the waves splash onto the seashore. While the hammered dulcimer is the lead instrument, other traditional instruments add their magical touch to create charming melodies, airs, jigs and waltzes. The Celtic harp, pennywhistle, concertina, accordion, bodhran, occasionally the guitar, violin, mandolin, bass or synthesizer, plus the "viola da gamba" create a mesmerizing blend of beautiful music transporting the listener to Ireland, Scotland, the Isle of Man and Galicia. I find myself humming several of the melodies throughout the day, after listening to this CD. The pleasure of listening to this music lasts many hours. Most highly recommended. Album Description
Soft rhythms of liquid, mystical motion blending Chinese and electro-acoustic harps, congas, flutes, didgeridoo, guitars, violin, penny whistle, keyboards and Native American, Tibetan and Hawaiian voices sweep you off to a blissful escape.
"Sedona-based harpist Peter Sterling taught himself to play the harp a few years back after a spiritual experience. This is an interesting fact to consider after you've heard him play - he has the confidence and technique of someone classically-trained. Shadow, Mist & Light, Sterling's first endeavor on Real Music, presents the harp in a variety of settings, which borrow from multi-cultural, jazz and relaxation music. The music is sweet, somewhat gentle and full of life, incorporating a variety of instruments like Latin-flavored percussion, violin, flute, saxophone, keyboards and guitar. Sterling's harp is always at the forefront, providing a lush flow of melody that all the other elements revolve around. Includes the assistance of Tina Malia on wordless vocals, Tony Redhouse on conga drums, Richard Hardy on flute, Robin Miller on keyboards and William Aura (3rd Force) on bass."

Customer Reviews:
My first traditional Irish album!.......2005-07-31
I am a great fan of traditional Irish music and De Danaan is the band that started me down that road....well over 25 years ago, gasp!! I remember buying the Mist Covered Mountain when I was no more than 10 or 11 and listening to the LP on the turntable every evening with my brothers. My favorite tune on this album is the eponymous Mist Covered Mountain, a searingly beautiful and plaintive song, and well worth the price of the album just for the one song. If you haven't heard this one, do yourself a favor, get this album, and play yourself this song. It's a rare delight.
Those initial days when I was so young yet, and just learning Irish music, spawned some great evenings, filled with laughter and games, crackling wood fires, and music both haunting and evocative. Even as I write this my memories turn to how I would drift to sleep, my brothers quiet about me (we three shared a room), thinking thoughts about the fabled Emerald Isle that I could know only through this wonderful new music. I went on to purchase other De Danaan albums, and many other albums by other traditional Irish bands. This is great stuff, the album that started it all for me, and if you are a fan of this type of music this is one you'll want to add to your collection.

Album Description
In 1983, Patrick Ball released the first record in his Celtic Harp series. Now, ten years and five releases later, he has completed his most personal work to date.
Fiona is a collection of traditional songs that includes some of the most beautiful and haunting tunes of the Celtic world - and is named after Patrick Ball's new daughter, Fiona.
For many years, the Celtic harp, with its unique resonance and clear, bell-like sound was an important part of Celtic life, especially in Ireland and in France's Celtic province, Brittany. The few harps which survived into the 20th century, did so as museum pieces, and their incredibly large and varied repertoire began to sink into obscurity, too. Naturally, as musicians and listeners have rediscovered the beauty of these instruments, the old songs and laments have been rediscovered as well.
On
Fiona, Ball includes two of Ireland's most enduring and memorable folk songs: She Moved Through the Fair, an oft recorded classic which can now finally be heard in its original form, and Brian Boru's March, an ancient tune marking the brief unification of Ireland in the 11th century. Traditional songs from Scotland and Brittany also appear, along with a work by Turlough O'Carolan, whose popular music has been a feature of each of Patrick Ball's six recordings for Celestial Harmonies/Fortuna. Ball's wire-strung harp is the focus of this recording, but the traditional Irish pipes, whistles, and fiddle provide an occasional complement on several pieces.

Not all the discs of new age, works
Track 2 has realy magic.
More than just another Celtic harp album.......1999-12-09
I own a fair number of Celtic harp albums and have listened to more, including Patrick Ball's four previous albums. While almost all of it has been pleasant, this one is a real standout. Where many albums offer still more versions of over-familiar melodies, this one is striking in its originality. Where some performances give the impression of tinkling music boxes or technical expertise that is somehow boring, this one is riveting and evocative. Some purists may find it insufficiently traditional, but I found it beautifully imaginative. Unlike reviewers who preferred this musician's earlier albums, to me this is the most interesting and moving of them all. "Fiona" came out in 1993; I am hoping that Mr. Ball is near to producing another album. Given the progression through his earlier work, I can hardly wait to see what he does next.
Enjoyable, but not my favorite.......1998-05-23
As always, Ball presents spirited virtuoso performances that elucidate traditional tunes and show off the nuances of the wire-strung Celtic harp. I like this album less than some of his previous ones because I think the material isn't as strong: he's a better performer than composer, and some of the traditional material strikes me as rather uninteresting compared with tunes he's recorded before. Still, it's a lovely album, and far stronger than some of the New Age fluff that passes itself off as "Celtic" music these days.

Customer Reviews:
Gentle Celtic reveries.......2004-01-02
This sampler album featuring the artists of the "Maggie's Music" label is subtitled "Quiet Moods from Ancient Lands", and that's a good description of the contents--nice music to unwind with at home after a busy day. Gently traditional, lightly jazzy, quietly folksy--the styles of the selections vary with the techniques of the artists, but maintain an atmosphere of elegance and reverie throughout. Except for being mellow of mood however, this music doesn't particularly strike me as "New Age-flavored", the words used to advertise it on the back of the album cover. While the nebulous "New Age umbrella" continues to expand and defy description, I suppose the "Celtic" categorization seems sufficient here because of the lack of ambient drones and synthesizers--not that this accoustic music needs such additions. It's rich and lovely just the way it is, substituting good old-fashioned talent, intelligent arrangements and resonant recording for the fullness of sound that typically results from layers of synthetic slush. The artists showcased in "Celtic Mist" are flutist and hammered-dulcimer player Karen Ashbrook, guitarists Robin Bullock and Al Petteway, harpist Sue Richards, fiddler Bonnie Rideout, hammered-dulcimer player Maggie Sansone, and Ceoltoiri Celtic Ensemble (Karen Ashbrook, Sue Richards and vocalist Connie McKenna). The tracks by Karen Ashbrook and Robert Bullock ("The Osprey", "Good Morning to Your Nightcap" and "Feuntuen an Aod") are particularly engaging. The gently elegant style of these tunes reminds me pleasantly of another multi-artist album, "Celtic Solstice", by Paul Winter and Friends, which you might want to try also. And of course seek out the individual releases of the artists featured on "Celtic Mist", such as "Hills of Erin" by Karen Ashbrook, "Between Earth and Sky" by Robin Bullock and "From the Isles to the Courts" by Sue Richards and Ensemble Galilei.
Beautifully Composed.......2003-09-15
I would definitely give this CD a high rating. The music is beautiful and puts you in the atmosphere of Ireland and the Celtic past. Each song has a unique sound yet they all unite in their own tradition. Excellent choice for anyone attuned to fine music. ;)
Relaxing Music.......2000-07-24
Celtic Mist provides me with relaxation whenever I am stressed. It also helps my mind stay focused while I do my homework. I would reccomend this for people who like soothing music combined with a taste from another part of the world.

On this evocative disc of instrumental music, dulcimer player Ken Kolodner is assisted by guitarist Robin Bullock and fiddle player Laura Risk (of Cordelia's Dad). Walking Stones includes several traditional Irish and Scottish pieces as well as a number of original compositions. Subtitled A Celtic Sojourn, the album does indeed give a listener the feeling of going on a journey, mainly because of the otherworldliness of the material and the ethereal quality of the hammer dulcimer. From the dancing rhythms of "Father Kelly's," "The Bornish Polka," and "Reel Beatrice" to the gentle delicacy of "Clock Waltz," "Princess Beatrice," and the title track, this music is nothing short of beautiful. There are more than 30 pieces in all, most quite short; however, they are arranged on the CD to flow smoothly one to the next, so the briefness of the songs is never distracting. --Genevieve Williams

Ken Kolodner is one of the modern masters of the hammered dulcimer, but this CD is much more than a great dulcimer recording -- it's a great *folk* recording. Along with the expressive fiddling of Laura Risk and the guitar and cittern wizardry of Robin Bullock, Kolodner presents old standards and modern compositions in arrangements that are inventive and expressive, going far beyond standard jam session fare, and giving the impression of a larger ensemble without benefit of overdubbing. It's hard to pick standout cuts, but my favorites are "Dances De Foins/Reel Beatrice/Pierre N'As Pas De Culotte," a firey set of Canadian reels, and "Ian Robertson," one of the loveliest slow airs to come around in a long time. This is one of those albums that bears up to repeated listening, and would be a fine addition to any folk music collection.
Beautiful pieces.......1999-11-02
A very nice CD. The tracks stick to Celtic conventions and are well executed.
