Not a bad song in the bunch!.......2007-03-28

I've had this CD in my car stereo for over a year now, and I never get tired of listening to it. It is at times soothing and at other times energizing. I love David's compositions and piano playing. I would be hard-pressed to pick a favorite song since they're all so good, but I do love Cast Your Fate To The Wind, Kei's Song, Still Standing and Wailea.

If you love piano music, you will not be disappointed with this CD.

Pretty Good.......2007-01-12

This is a very refreshing, smooth, easy, relaxing, album that I gurentee jazz lovers will love. The two best tracks are Freedom at Midnight and Urban Daydreams.

One of the Best Compilations.......2005-01-29

If you are into contemporary jazz and like Dave Koz, Boney James, and Dave Grusin then you are in for a treat. This CD will make you in the mood for a drive down the Sunny Coast of California. I have no doubt that once you listen to this CD and not a fan of David Benoit, you will be looking out for his next release. I also recommend some of his early work especially the "Stages" album.

Timeless Songs........2001-01-16

This CD includes David Benoit's greatest hits. All of the tracks are nice. His songs never seem to go out of style -- just timeless. If you're just starting to listen to David Benoit or if you don't have his earlier CDs, I suggest you just buy this one CD -- it's David Benoit at his best.

An absolute must buy!.......1998-09-09

This album is a compilation of the band's singles and recordings throughout their short time together. Honeybunch plays the best guitar pop in recent memory. There is not a single song here that is a miss and most songs are simply great. The songwriting is unmatched, and its surprising that these guys did not enjoy more popularity. This is certainly one of the best CDs in my collection.

Buck-Tick "Best Of" 1987-1995.......2003-02-24

Buck-Tick is without a doubt the BEST band to come out of Japan's visual kei/j-rock music scene in the past 15+ years, and this terrific collection of singles is a great way to get familiar with the group.

"Catalogue 1987-1995" collects the singles Buck-Tick released on the Victor -Invitation label in Japan between 87-95 and it's an amazing collection of great music! There's not one bad song on the CD and it showcases the varied talent of this remarkable band. Fans of American & British goth, new romantic, & glam artists such as Bowie, Bauhaus, Love and Rockets, Mission U.K., The Cure, Japan, Ultravox, The Cult, Echo and the Bunnymen, etc. should enjoy this!

Buck-Tick released a "Catalogue 1987-1995" Video Collection along with this CD, which is well worth seeking out. It contains videos for all the songs on this CD and since Buck-Tick is a Japanese "visual-kei" band, their music is worth "seeing" as much as it is worth "hearing".

Victor-Invitation also released a double CD of Buck-Tick songs in 1999 called "Best of B-T".

When there's no other cd left this could be the introduction.......2004-08-18

This is no bad compilation at all for the recording years 1987-1995 of one of the best rock/guitar bands of the 80's. Yes, it's disappointing that the compilation has not been expanded with tracks of the earlier years containing songs from their great albums as 'Fiction' or 'Sleep no more'. But there are some great songs on it as 'My Mind's Eye', 'Always Near', 'Goddess' and 'Shiva Descending'. I would advice getting a copy from these hard to get earlier albums but also 'My mind's Eye' or the somewhat harder rocking album 'The Glamour' are great albums to have in your collection. The albums 'Land' or 'Seven Days Weekend' are not those kind of albums the Comsat Angels got there publicity on and they aren't my favourites. If you like the now a days Coldplay or Snow Patrol listen also to the Comsat Angels; it was a great band! You'll not be disapppointed!

Some great songs but ..... not a typical "best of".......2000-07-25

From Beyond 2 is not a typical "best-of" album but a compilation of atmospheric soundscapes covering the bands last years of existance. This seems to be alligned with the bands own history which could be characterized as a never fullfilled promise, at least from a commercial perspective. Given the limited availability of earlier releases, I was pretty eager to get a hold of this album in search of previously unavailable and unreleased Comsat Jewels.

My favorite -previously non released- songs of the album are "I hear a new World", "Valley of the Nile", "Always near" and "Goddess" for different reasons. "Valley of the Nile" is a much more subtle acoustic version of the bombastic original on "The Glamour". It brings out a wonderfull and unusual melodic sequence of chords so typical for many of the great Comsat songs. "Goddess" and "I hear a new World" are catching songs as they kick and rumble. "Always near" stands out because of it's Comsat unlike piano solo. Many of the other songs were released on realier Comsat albums.

So it this a great album? The album ends with 3 experimental post Comsat tracks which don't really fit with the sound of the album as a whole. This is a disappointing end to the album, which prevents is from being great. It's worth seeking out if you are a Comsat fan, if only for "I hear a new world" and "Valley of the Nile". But if you're not a die-hard Comsat fan, the album would not be the best introduction to the band. Hopefully From Beyond 1 will hit the spot.
