About the Artist
Tameem was born in Laramie, Wyoming on May 26, 1974. As a child, Tameem moved so much that he was attending a different school every year. Before he could make enough friends, his family would move again. Never fitting into a social scene and spending a good amount of time on his own is how he found his talent and passion - music and singing. By the age of 12, Tameem had learned to read and write in Farsi and was interested in his culture so passionately that he quit playing the trumpet and began singing in Farsi and playing the accordion as accompaniment. Discouraged by the sound of his immature "falsetto" voice, Tameem pursued the Tabla (a well - known Indian/Afghan percussion) and randomly took lessons with Maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain. Although he humbly admits to not being a faithful student to the legendary tabla master, he was greatly inspired by Zakir Hussain. At the age of eighteen, he started playing tabla and touring with many popular singers. After four years of accompanying with different groups, it was time for him to move on and pursue his first passion: singing. While accompanying others he became aware of what he didn't want to follow as an artist and states: "The one-man bands with pre-programmed keyboard arrangements have poorly replaced the authentic sounds and a once-flourishing music." Tameem then began studying music, recording, and vocals in more depth by becoming a music major in college. He later spent the following years watching everything that was once important to him fall apart because of his decision to pursue singing as a career; this included his school, job, business, fiancé, friends, financial obligations, and family respect. After enduring many hardships in life, Tameem is once again motivated to begin his career as a singer and producer. His inspiration comes from a wide array of styles from various countries and he admits to being influenced by the famous Afghan singer Ahmad Zahir, Iranian Diva Googoosh, Indian tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain, the flamenco-style music of the Gipsy Kings, producer and songwriter Nainawaz, Arabic dance music, and many different mainstream American artists. Tameem's style is a mesh of all his influences rendered into this vibrant and passionate music with its base and core as the catchy Afghan form. Tameem self-produced and also played many of the instruments on his CD.

Product Description
In this album Tameem fuses Eastern and Western sounds and uses the acoustical style that existed in Afghanistan over 20 years ago. Tameem revives the instrumental sounds that have become foreign even to Afghan ears and in the process, artistically fuses other instruments from around the globe--such as the violin, didgeridoo, oud, flaminco guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, tabla, flute, nai, piano, and many other instruments. Tameem's voice is soul-soothing and its strength is captivating. Combined with the poetic verses of such great Persian poets as Rumi, Hafiz, Attar, and others, the mystical songs and arrangements are a refreshing transformation. This album is an absoult art piece that will take you in a journey far from your imagination.
