The Only Demonstration Disc You'll Ever Need.......2006-06-10
Beyond that, musically this is one of the Cincinatti Pops' finest soundtrack collections. Perhaps the best. Almost all of their recordings are sonically of the highest quality (Copland: Music of America won a Grammy for best engineering), but all too often in recent years the releases have not met the standard of this album. Arrangers that don't begin to care what the composer's intent was or tacking on pre-fab endings are the worst offenders, but most of the selections here meet or exceed the quality of the original soundtracks. All around, a great soundtrack collection.
An Adventure For Your Ears.......2004-06-01
Blows Away All Other Such Compilations!.......2003-04-02
The above quote is found prominantly on the back cover and is a warning not to be taken lightly. The respective tracks are awesome and should be played, as well as listened to, with great care.
A 20-bit digital recording that is perfect for surround-sound systems, "The Great Fantasy Adventure Album" is a wonder for fans of the sci-fi/fantasy film genre. Highlighting some truly landmark films, the 1994 release showcases compositions from the legends of past and contemporary film scoring. Themes from the likes of Rosza, Williams, Horner, Herrmann, and Elfman are grandiosely featured here.
The best cuts are Goldsmith's "Total Recall: Main Title", "Conan the Barbarian: Anvil of Crom" (Poledouris), and Brad Fiedel's "Terminator: Theme".
Upon hearing this trio, chills will not just go up the spine but will permeate every ounce of one's body
The perfect movie theme collection.......2000-08-16

Not bad as in bad, but bad as in good!.......2005-01-17
In the last album, it seemed as if Terminator was on the sell out tip, infact he even had a pop track on the album. How low can you go?
On this album, he totally redeems himself. He's back with his original industrial/Hip-Hop beats that we know him for, along with Chuck, and a nice round up of Hip-Hop forefathers.
I can't really describe this, all I can say is it is cool in the way that only Terminator X can deliver. Definatly a MUST buy for any PE collector.

Schwarzenegger's time-traveling, world-wrecking cyborg is back, but most of the original films' creative team and cast have been replaced here, with Italian-born composer Marco Beltrami (who's cut his journeyman chops on a raft of contemporary sci-fi/horror films and sequels, including the Scream franchise, Joy Ride, and Resident Evil) being a sage choice to score this third installment. Pumping Brad Fiedel's brooding original theme with even more menace, the composer proceeds to forge a massive, unsettling panorama of percussion-driven, electronic suffused orchestral fury that evokes an unsettling, mechanized world gone mad. Sounding like the symphonic sensibilities of Prokofiev and Shostakovich as interpreted by the mechanized forges and stamping machines of some hellish assembly line, Beltrami uses the most aggressive elements of 20th century Russian romanticism here like a steel club. There are moments of stem-winding suspense and surprisingly tranquil respites, but the main attraction is the sturm und drang of Beltrami's furious and often other-worldly action music. Also included are the gentle acoustic ballads "Open to Me" and "I Told You" by Dillon Dixon and Mia Julia, respectively, performances that seem jarringly out of place contrasted against the score's orchestral metal-fest. --Jerry McCulleyCustomer Reviews:
Not one of Beltrami's best........2007-01-22
The main fault is that Beltrami used a Hollywood in-studio symphony for the recording, but it doesn't sound full or grand enough... it sounds processed. Cheap. If he had recorded these epic sounds with a *real* symphony, like Williams or Morricone, I imagine this score would have been much better.
Maybe he was trying to deliberately go for a processed sound because the film is about machines taking over. Unfortunately, it just sounds tinny and thin and - at times - rather laughable. A shame, really.
The music itself isn't really that great either - he was working off of Fiedel's original score and trying to implement some new stuff, and that's admirable in and of itself, but this is one of his weaker efforts.
Excellent work by Beltrami.......2006-06-24
All SCORE, but few SONGS.......2006-01-01
This soundtrack includes only the orchestral SCORE, which is quality stuff (as scores go), but if you're looking for those cool songs that set a comedic mood behind certain scenes, don't expect to find them on this CD.
Strangely, this CD DOES include two SONGS that seem to have little or nothing to do with the film (and which may or may not have played during the end credits):
"I Told You" performed by Dillon Dixon,
and "Can't Hide This" performed by Mega Jeff.
But this soundtrack CD omits the songs:
"Sugar," and "Party," performed by Peter Beckett,
"Macho Man" performed by the Village People,
"I told you" performed by Mia Julia,
"Dat Funky Man"
(the song heard in the background while the T-1000 pillages the convenience store) performed by William Randolph III, and
"The Current" performed by Blue Man Group.
Why on earth these tracks were not included on the T3 Soundtrack, or a separate "Songs From" CD isn't available, I cannot fathom.
Awesome score! .......2005-12-21

Timeless.......2006-09-26
The score for Terminator 2, is more than just an upgrade of the original material, it is an expansion of the musical landscape presented in the truly unique sound of the first film. One thing I have never gotten is why film score reviewers seem content to bash Brad Fiedel's Terminator scores, praiseing his main Terminator theme, but denouncing the rest of the score as simply "noise." Terminator 2 is more human and emotional than the first score, but that has to do with the growth of the Terminator character in the film as it begins to understand the nature of human emotion. Aside from having two brilliant reprises of the original Terminator theme we are given a wealth of new and experimental material that does for synthesizers what Jerry Golsmith did for precussion in the original Planet of the Apes. Terminator 2 has a unique sound that no other film has duplicated. Tracks like "Trust me" and "I'll be back" are real action highlights, while "desert suite" gives a sense of impending doom and abiance that fits the scene like a glove. Fiedel knows what he is doing with this score since listening to it conjurs so many memories of the corresponding scenes it makes you realize that the score for T2 is a vital part of the film. It is powerful, unique, experimental, at times touching, and well worth owning to any film score collector.

Listening to sound samples in his album 'Terminator' compells me to buy the CD. (I am a Sri Lankan living in Singapore. If I'd not be able to find it here in HMV, or Tower Records, I will need to get down thro' the net) It sounds ideal for a bass lover and a player like me to get inspirations. Well done Vail, keep going. You are among the top basists in the world.
