About the Artist
FUNNY (Donric Williamson) Funny is widely acklowledged as one of Trinidad and Tobago's most humerous calypsonians. He has been in the tents for over three (3) decades and remain one of the most consistent composers and performers.

Born May 23, he grew up in Morvant and took his last $20.00 to purchase a guitar. Playing and singing " on the block" in his neighborhood, he became a favourite even before his first public appearance in 1964.

He began singing in the tent in 1966 at C.D.C's Calypso Theatre singing "Vicey" and "Sweet Trinidad". He also sang with other tents like:

Sparow's Young Brigade, Blakie's Victory Tents, Regal Tent, Professional Tent, Kingdom of the Wizzard, Shadow's Master Den and presently at Spectakular Tent. He has travelled the Caribbean Islands, Miami and North America, on many occasions. Accomplishments: - He has made the National Calypso Monarch Semi/finals seven (7) times between 1966 & 1977. - He made the National Calypso Monarch Finals in 1970, after which he quitted the competition. - He was the second runner-up in the 1969 By Local Competition. - He was awarded Most Outstanding Calypso in New York City, for "Ah Soul Man" in 1981. - He obtained a trophy for Most Encored Song for "The Latest Style

(Acid Wash)" in 1988 at Spectakular Tent. - The National Carnival Commitee (N.C.C) Awarded him Best Creative Humor in 1988 and 1991. - Sunshine Awards, New York, voted "Farmer Brown" Best Creative Humor in 1989. - He got Best Independence Song for "How Yuh Feel", and he placed second in The National Independence Calypso Competition in 1987. - He won the N.A.C.C's People's King Competition and was given the keys to the city of Port-of-Spain in 1989.
