Recording nuh good.......2007-01-20

this would be a fantastic CD as the songs are great, if you could hear them. The recording is substandard and my advice would be to buy other Cd's with a better sound quality. No reflection on Sparrow,the #1.

This record could be called "The Young Person's Guide to The Mighty Sparrow", albeit young people have no business listening to some of these songs!

Many times the lyrics are so comical that one might miss the fact that this is some incredibly intricate music.

Since everyone is so big on "Yeah, but what does it sound like?" Harry Belafonte meets Desi Arnaz (the music) meets Rudyard Kipling, Randy Newman, and Jimmy Buffett (the lyrics). Great stuff!

Calypso de alta clase.......2001-10-21

A Sparrow se lo conoce poco o nada en muchas partes del mundo y es muy difícil conseguir sus discos o, al menos, alguno que represente su música y la reproduzca con aceptables niveles de calidad.
Esta recopilación ayuda mucho en este sentido. Realiza un recorrido por sus primeros veinte años de carrera con generosidad en el número de canciones. El audio, variable dependiendo de la canción, es aceptable. Pero alcanza para apreciar arreglos, timbres e instrumentos, y darse cuenta cómo evoluciona Sparrow hasta llegar al estilo Soca.
A la primera escuchada sobresalen grandes canciones como "No Money, No Love" y "Obeah Wedding", donde queda de manifiesto el humor y la calidad musical de un legendario de Trinidad y Tobago.
Para aquellos que quieren conocer un poco más de la música tropical y de lo que sucede en el Caribe, éste es un buen punto de partida. El único defecto del disco es que el Calypso, en abundancia, puede tornarse monótono y este CD dura más de setenta minutos. Así es que hay que tomárselo despacio y escucharlo de a poco.

Best of early Mighty Sparrow 60's - 70's.......1999-01-10

If you are a Mighty Sparrow fan like me this is a great CD, if not you may like some of his more recent, more polished recordings. Slinger Francisco aka The Might Sparrow had days when they one got from one bar to another by donkey cart (per the line notes) and some of these song were recorded under less than ideal conditions as you can tell on a CD.

The great thing about Sparrow is that his songs all have an attitude. In the early recording here most of the songs are fun and good dance songs or for a party. Later recordings have a more serious tone like Free Nelson Mandela, but all have that great beat.

Sounds like Pac...But so what!!!.......2001-09-19

This is Crazy's first album and it is good, very good. Yes he sounds like Tupac, but the boy can flow. Master P should be glad that He was able to sign this artist to his Soldier Army Lable.
His new CD own P's new lable is entitled "Breather Life" and it is off the hook. If you like Tupac, and I really do, this will be a refreshing sound to your ears. No, it's not Pac, nor can Crazy replace Pac, but he comes pretty damn close...believe that!!!!! I REVEAL FOR LIFE!!!
