I first enountered this album in a dance class. It was so good, I had to get the name of the CD at the end of the rehearsal to add it to my collection. Fabulous. The sound quality and smooth voice of the singer, along with the unusual sounding instruments make the CD a great piece of music to have.

Totally by chance, I stumbled onto a free show Antonella gave in front of the Milan Cathedral 3 years ago. I was mesmerized by that voice, not to mention the energy of her show, but her voice.... Words fail. I bought Libera that same night & carried it home with me. Superbly crafted, lost count now of how many times I've listened to it.

Doesn't matter a whit to me that she sings in Italian -- hey, it's a beautiful language -- she communicates! It's the power of great music. Take a chance, America, & be carried away by one of the most soul-stirring rock voices you'll ever hear.

I'm lucky I have friends from Italy who can sneak in one or two CD's by Antonella. Her voice is simply amazing. She's one of the best female voices I've ever heard. PLEASE, PLEASE BRING MORE OF HER MUSIC TO AMERICA!!!!!! REGISTRAZIONE MODERNE IS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS EVER, EVER. There's also good music out there, beyond the Atlantic!!!

This album was the 3th Antonella Ruggiero album I did bought. Her voice takes you on an unlimited jerney thrue the musical outerspaces. She plays with her voice, with sound, and with silences as well. A pitty to find out that her 4th album "grabaziones modernas" spanish version of " registrazione moderne" is hard to find on the internet. Winter 2001 her new cd will (probebly) be released. Antonella doesn't make smooth music, to me it seems she likes to keep it full of surprises, that's just why I'm such a BIG Fan of her.

"Free", at last. Waiting for it has been long, but it was worth. After having undergone the Matia Bazar experience, a roaring band of thousand ideas and metamorphoses, Antonella Ruggiero decided to abandon the stage fed up of life in show business, not knowing for how long, but it did not matter at all. She yearned to recover her intimate and private life. She wanted to have a baby and shortly after he was born -hence a part of that ordinary life began to change due to an important achievement for a woman, becoming a mother...

Then, she started a new experience. She did not want to hear about singing again though. Her husband and producer Roberto refrained from putting pressure on her -nor did he hinder her choice for a peaceful life away from the world of sounds. Now Gabriele, their child, has the excellent and strange voice of his mother to himself. Maybe he is not yet aware of being the guardian of such a big treasure. Life passed by and as the child grew up, Antonella made up her mind to make the journey she always dreamed of...

To magical India, a world of contradictions, but full of spirituality, color, and sounds that nobody can remain indifferent to, specially a sensitive and remarkable singer still resting....thus, by being in touch with real people within a varied religious dimension, her forgotten and buried passion for singing was reborn and turned out sharp. A music whose only purpose is transmiting the sensations of joy and love was to blame -this is a serious matter. From that moment on, she would sing joyfully for the people to deliver happiness and serenity in a world made wretched by shallowness and economic interests that neglect the inner life of individuals. She felt free inside of herself and longed to share her beautiful experience with us...

"Free" (Libera, 1996) is her first solo album. It is filled with a sensation of spirituality coming from that recovered serenity and from an engaged and distant music that blends skillfully with our modern western rhythms. Her inimitable voice soars among notes as though time had made it even more beautiful and magic...

And so, she resolved to confront her past which was worth nothing anymore. And with a new brave impulse, she stood up and recorded her old repertory in the album "Modern Recordings" (Registrazioni Moderne). Her appearance in San Remo in 1998 brought her back on stage and into the world of Italian music. She was awarded a due second place won with a hoarse voice which proved that Antonella Ruggiero knew how to sing voiceless...

And to deliver joy too, next with a new song entitled "Far Distant Love" (Amore Lontanissimo), one of the most long awaited performances in concert. She returned to San Remo the following year with the song "I Don't Forget You" (Non Ti Dimentico) and again was awarded a second place, preceding the release of "Restless" (Sospesa), her third solo album, a record filled with air, wind, sky and imaginary dimensions, but also solid and calm at the same time. Her voice induces all the rest. The melodies are pleasent and embellished with improvisations that overcome the threshold of words and conventionalities of classical music. Touring is where Antonella does hers utmost, because acoustical arrangements make a more direct contact with her voice -the Tour 2000 is already ended...

Ethereal Antonella...when hearing her singing you have the impression of loosing the earth and taking flight with her voice. Who knows whatever she will attempt in her forthcoming work to be released in spring 2001, and whatever new and unimaginable thing her artistic creativity is holding in store for us. We can expect it to be more aware of the past, more sincere and free.
