Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars EXPLODING ECLECTICISM.......2001-05-07

There is probably no way to adequately describe the music of 3M3 is the short space allotted here. Their motto, 'Forward in all directions', says it best. This group of ethno-heads from various countries (England and Europe mostly, I believe) have taken the indiginous music of such far-flung regions as Eastern Europe, Greece, India, Southeast Asia, Africa, Japan, the Middle East -- you name it, they play it -- and tossed it into a blender with an equal dose of pop music sensibilities from just as wide an area. The result is something that is unique in modern recorded music -- and it's obviously done with love and respect, not just for the sake of being different.

The Mustaphas are intriguing (try to follow their self-propegated personal 'family history', for example), humorous, heart-wrenching, educational and above all, FUN. The musicianship is superb throughout this (and all of their releases, and the recordings are always strong and clear. Songs from one culture, generations old, meet the instruments of another culture in present day.

Let's all meet at the Crazy Qumquat Club for a dance party...! The wolf may be at the door, but Szegerely rocks most righteously!

This is what I imagine Frank Zappa may have sounded like had he been born on Mars. If you like musicianship, eclectic sounds, and have an easy sense of humor you will like this. Apparently they have a large and devoted following. Search "3 Mustaphas 3".
