Here's a little something to tide you over until Jay-Z decides to come correct. Then again, Roc-A-Fella Records could release Sean Carter Sings MC Hammer's Greatest Hits and watch it ship platinum. So, it really doesn't matter if Dynasty seems to be a rather half-hearted effort from the man who many consider to be the best rapper this side of Rakim. Although presented as a solo album, Dynasty showcases the Roc-A-Family, giving extensive mic time to Beanie Sigel and Memphis Bleek, who gets a whole track (the Ja Rule-esque "Holla") to himself. Amil, whose own solo album, All Money Is Legal failed to reveal her inner queen, turns up to rhyme the hook on the posse cut, "You, Me, Him & Her." Jay-Z keeps his flow fairly straightforward here, and the beats neatly reflect his icy, relatively soulless lyrics. But of course, as the man himself has said, you "can't knock the hustle." --Rebecca Levine
Customer Reviews:
One of the better compilations (3 and 1/2 stars).......2007-06-29
Let me start off by saying that the Intro is vintage Jay-z but its not the only track where Jigga goes off on. Streets Is Talking which features Beanie Sigel is another track where Jigga killed it and Beanie's verse was crazy too. Both Jay-z and Beanie rip the track Stick 2 The Script to shreds and Guilty Until Proven Innocent which features R. Kelly is Jay-z's finest moment on the mic. Scarface joins Jay-z and Beanie on the heartfelt This Cant Be Life. Memphis Bleek does pretty well on his solo joint Holla and Where Have You Been is one of the best songs on here as Jay-z and Beanie talk about their deadbeat fathers on the track. Although I love the song, I still dont like the 2 minutes of vinyl static that comes after the song fades out. This comp is not without its flaws. Parking Lot Pimpin is boring and so is 1-900-Hustler. Squeeze First is a classic example of beatwasting as Jay-z spits lukewarm verses of a hard beat. The R.O.C which features Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel is a commercial blunder and Jay-z's solo track, Soon You'll Understand is annoying to say the least. Bottom Line: Roc La Familia is one of the better rap compilations even though it has its suspect moments. Standout Tracks: INTRO, CHANGE THE GAME, STREETS IS TALKING, THIS CANT BE LIFE, GET YOUR MIND RIGHT MAMI, STICK 2 THE SCRIPT, YOU, ME HIM, HER, GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT, HOLLA and WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN.
4.5 stars: When Rocafella ruled hiphop.....................2006-11-25
Bump what you heard - Dynasty was the joint! The Roc came into 2000 on roll having just dropped Vol 3 in 99. The joints on here are classic.
Top Joints:
Change The Game (Classic)
I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me) (CLassic)
This Can't Be Life (Deep Scarface & Jay Joint)
You, Me, Him And Her (ROC Joint)
Guilty Until Proven Innocent (Classic Kells & Jay joint. Jay would later plead guilty.)
Parking Lot Pimpin' (Classic)
Holla (Memph Bleek rips: Number One Rule: Never get caught Slippin! That's why I eat, sleep, sh%t with my gat. Get up, Take a piss, f*ck a b*tch with my gat.)
1-900-Hustler (Roc & State Property get their roll on)
Where Have You Been (Joint for all of the fatherless boys out there that grew to be men, like myself. Great performance from Jay & BSeigel.)
Jay-Z retired, thank god.......2006-08-02
The intro is tight, the rest just sucks... End of review!
underated.......2006-06-10
rip manpac you must not be a rap fan or a jayz fan talkin bout vol 3 was trash and the dynasty was worst u must like them franchise boyz cds or something cause them two albums are two of his best but anyway the dynasty was spose to be a compulation album thats the reason for the guess appereances but its a solid album on bad but underated
The Dynasty of Roc-A-Fella .......2006-05-18
I guess the Roc-A-Fella dynasty will never fall off. Every year, they seem to be getting stronger, but it's hard to knock their hustle, while Jay-Z and his Roc-A-Fella army are showing us why they are number one by dropping smash hit singles such as the "Neptunes'" produced, "I Just Wanna Love You" and "Guilty Until Proven Innocent" with R. Kelly singing the hook. Beanie Sigel really comes strong on this one, with cuts like "Streets Is Talking" and "Where Have You Been" where Mack and Jay talk about their father's leaving. Not as vivid as "Reasonable Doubt" nor as slick as "Vol. 2" but still most of the production work makes up for the album, i.e. Just Blaze and Kanye West (listen to "This Can't Be Life").

The Wu-Tang warrior's second solo joint is so conceptually huge, only somebody who's been high every day for a decade could have imagined it: hip-hop album as science-fiction double-feature as celebrity parade as horror movie as multilayered masquerade as an endlessly Baroque flow of spiels and skits, hallucinatory fantasy, and killer-bee menace. The romantic strains of Tical have been replaced by pure, sweaty sex, and Meth's image transformation from laidback muscle to bloodthirsty cyborg (with a phone book's worth of guest stars) just means he compacts his flow more tightly. The production is the Wu standard of berserk little loops and spare boom-bap, though RZA's tracks are head and shoulders above those of his disciples. --Douglas Wolk

best album by mef.......2006-09-01
there is just no bad songs on this album every song tends to flow with the album , must by cd.

A Mini Masterpiece.......2006-08-30
This album is one of my Top 10 All-Time favorite hip hop albums. Sweet Love and Perfect World are the 2 best tracks on this release.
Method Man.......2006-03-30
I like this album a lot it has a lot of great songs but there are too many skits. It kind of reminds me of mixtapes with so many tracks you can only get so far and then you get kind of bored with some of the tracks. But Method smokes so much weed he probably was too high to care. But that does not matter because they are great songs on here and I will let you decide what those are. I recommend this to all rap fans great choice to add to your collection.
A good sophmore effort.......2006-01-25
The problem with so many tracks is that you can lose memntum and or originality and then adding so many guest stars (Left Eye, Mobb Deep, Streetlife, Capponada, Chris Rock, Ed Lover, Raekwon, Redman...just to name a very few) you can risk losing limelight. The greatest thing about this CD is that, while there is some filler, Meth never loses his footing on the floor. He is the star of this album and every guest just compliments Meth's ability to comand the album. In fact, my favorite song "step by step" doesn't even have a guest rapper. So if your a fan of the Wu-Man they call Method Man AKA Jonny Blaze AKA The Iron Lung AKA...no I'm just kiddin'...anyway, if your a fan of the man they call Meth then pick this up because whatever Meth puts his name on you know is gonna be hot!
Another One from Wu Brother #1.......2006-01-15
when i copped this back when it came out, i remember being very into Wu-Tang and with that said this album is an Epic and doesn't sink like Leo's Titianic. this disc from top to bottom is method man every which way possible to name it. mostly produced by RZA & The Wu Elements (Mathematics, 4th Disciple & True Masta) and also Erick Sermon & Havoc guesting on two tracks makes this disc a worthy counterpart to Tical. With 28 tracks as a lengthly opus to starts and funny as sometimes unnessesary skits makes it a characture of itself but still keep the ship intact thou. lots of singles could of been chosen off the the album but the two main ones were "Judgement Day" & "Break Ups To Make Ups" feat D'Angelo make it a sorta purchase but what makes it a purchase is that it's just so dope as a listen that why you couldn't cop it. favorite tracks are:
Shaolin What (cuz of lex lugar line)
Judgement Day
Spazzolla feat Wu Tang Clan
Play IV Keeps feat Rebel Ins, Streetlife & Mobb Deep
Grid Iron Rap feat Streetlife
Step By Step
Killin Fields (with the warriors type of intro/outro)
You Play Too Much Skit (always makes me laugh)
Torture
Suspect Chin Music feat Streetlife
Dangerous Grounds feat Streetlife
Sweet Love feat Cappadonna & Streetlife (reminds me of one of my homegirls plus it was her fav. song)
Overall i'm give this a 4.5 Stars

Maybe you can't find your Olivia Newton-John Physical album or don't want to get caught cranking the Jane Fonda Workout video, in which case the new Peyton Reed comedy about two rival cheerleading teams features a perfect soundtrack to get your butt bustin' a move in short order and in modern style. This breezy collection serves as a showcase for the many hip-hop R&B vocal groups currently on the Sony Music roster (Blaque, B*Witched, and Sygnature). Dublin's youthful teen group B*Witched revive and update Toni Basil's one-hit wonder, the cheerleader anthem "Mickey," while TLC's Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez's protégés Blaque contribute two versions of "As If" and a remix of "Bring It All to Me." Old-school New York City trio the Jungle Brothers add a Mardi Gras groove to "Freakin' You." Lauren Mayhew, who plays Marra on the afternoon soap Guiding Light, leads her group P.Y.T. with "Anywhere U.S.A," a blend of hip-hop beats and mainstream pop appeal. --Rob O'Connor
Customer Reviews:
Meh........2006-07-04
Basically, I think they sold out on this soundtrack. Alot of the songs that are prominently featured throughout the movie are missing (for example, Sum 41's Makes No Difference, Mest's What's The Dillio, Bis' Detour (Do You Wanna Go My Way?)) and instead, we find alot of songs of which we simply hear clips of during the competition mixes. Now, if they had actually featured the mixes in their entirety, it would be different. But instead we are left with a bunch of, quite honestly, mediocre songs.
its okay..........2006-07-02
the songs themselves are okay, but they dont capture the spirit of the movie. make sure you listen to the clips so you're not disappointed! and read the other reviews, so you can find the songs you're actually looking for. does anybody know the song they play when the go to either regionals or nationals, when missy's looking around at the other teams? it goes something like: ".... there she goes, slipping and sliding...."
missing all rocxk songs.......2006-06-27
where are all the rock songs? i need to know sum from sum 41 and mest, and any others thanks if someone could or would respond.
Do You Wanna Go My Way Song.......2006-03-01
For those who were/ are looking, the 'Do You Wanna Go My Way' song used in Torrance's spirit stick scene is really called "Detour" by bis. It's a great song, and I was a little disapointed that it was not on the soundtrack since it's such an intense scene/ great song. Hope that helps fellow searchers.
It doesn't have the total domination song but..........2005-07-26
Hey everyone that wants the total domination song u can get it on a different cd. and the real name of the song get ready for this and u get the cd of this site and the cd is called jock jams 1. ur welcome all of u that wanted this song cauise I have been lokking fior at leasst 3 years lkkking for this song and I finally found it and it's only 12.99. excellent or what.

Disciples of the camp of Divine Styler, Los Angeles's Styles of Beyond lack the spiritual commitment of their mentor yet more than make up for it with deft rhyme construction, a hungry battle attitude, and a cosmic-comic understanding of the world around them. Their sound is a cross between that of Mobb Deep and Camp Lo, mixing casual storytelling with penetrating insult, and whether it's dealing with interdimensional transmissions, lyrical transgressions, or biological transformations, MCs Takbir and Ryu do it with class and finesse. The production, largely supplied by Vin Skully, is uniformly outstanding, abusing the sampler and the turntable to penetrating depths. As Takbir says on "Styles of Beyond," they'll continue to be "the number 3 letters on your flip phone: D-E-F till my death." --Jon Caramanica
Customer Reviews:
One of my all time Faves.......2007-01-31
This album is an underground classic. S.O.B have created a masterpiece with this album. They are the sole reason why Ive spent so much time exploring the depths of underground hip hop. Ive come across many great artists and til this day, 2000 fold still gets alot of play. Theres nothing like it, the beats are simply amazing and the chemistry between ryu and tak is supurb. You will be left with your jaw dropped after hearing ryu flow so well on many of these tracks. I see alot of reviewers on here refering to them from fort minor. You cant compare this to them at all and if your just another fort minor groupie, stay away. Theres a fine line between underground and mainstream sound. I think mike shinoda is very talented and dont disrespect his work. I just dont think you can compare the groups. S.O.B is on an entirely different level than most of whats put out today. So youll need an open mind and to appreciate music beyong the lyrics, altho the lyrics on here are great as well.
If you want a good continuation to this album, SOB almost dropped a second album just like this. There are unreleased tracks called windows, atomic zen, and underground sound. They are sick, so try to find em and download em. They almost rolled with the idea, but changed their mind and megadef came out instead.
I hope S.O.B's third release is listenable, yet dont expect too much, sadly I dont think we will hear anything like this again from the group. They have made the transition from originality to pop. Megadef was the start. Fort minor was the death of SOB and the birth of the green. But thats life unfortunately.
This CD is dope.......2006-07-28
When it dropped I was spinning hip hop on a college radio station. I just remember that direct flow - sort of drone-y and the production is all fresh. just darker background melodies and building rifs on top of those Divine Styler-styled drum patterns. The flow and interchange between the MSc is very late 90s, but comes off extraordinarily well. A nice balance between the voices and flows. GET THIS CD if you love quality underground hip hop.
I can't speak as highly for their second release, "Megadef"...
I've heard way better........2006-03-04
I bought this album after hearing their work on Fort Minor's recent release. The beats are less than innovative and, frankly, just don't hit very hard. The vocal styles aren't bad, just not my cup of tea, and the rhymes didn't show me much either. I'm guessing they learned quite a bit in the last few years b/c their work on The Rising Tied was far better.
..........2005-08-26
yeah its pretty good. All the lyrics are bomb diggity, but most of the beats lack that certain sumthin that makes you want to slap your pappy. Also, there isnt much consistency within the album. There are a couple of very entertaining jams like #9 and #10, but some of the other tracks are relatively boring and mundane. Overall, a pretty solid effort because the lyrics make up for the shortcomings in production.
Outside the mainstream - pros and cons .......2005-08-08
The lyrical stylings on all the tracks is supurb. Once again proving that some of the best are not always the most commercially successful. I originally heard this group on a drum n' bass remix. The flow was outstanding so I researched the group and found this cd and Megadef. Some of the songs could use a little help structurally. But, the production value is good and overall I was extremely pleased. You can't say enough about the flow of these two artist. If you were to put them with some of today's top end producers I think you would see these guys competing with the likes of the Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West, and Ludacris, for top spots on the charts.

Essential Dance 2000 has an amount of my fav tracks including KERNKRAFT 400,9 PM,and Higher and Higher.
Kind of a let down.......2002-10-14
I've heard so many good things about this DJ, although after buying this CD I noticed that his mixing skills are really not all that great. Some of the songs sound awkward blended together, and the track selection isnt the greatest either.
I should have waited to buy this on the clearance rack.
Slammin Album.......2002-07-10
This cd has got all the hits. If you like dance music buy this pop album. ALthough it starts off with a few mid tempo songs, do not let it decieve you. Once it gets started it does not stop. My favorite is the instrumental version of kiss by the Vengaboys. Although there are no words that song is trancy and dancy. Get this album for dance lovers.
Makes me want to move!.......2001-11-16
I love this CD. I listen to it all of the time. It has a fast beat and moves well from one song to the next. I strongly recommend it to anyone who likes music that pumps you up!

The pride of Newark takes a slow rumble through hip-hop's history on his fourth album, jacking whatever beats he takes a shine to: Ice Cube, Audio Two, and the Beastie Boys all get their hits heavily rewritten, and on the closing Roni Size collaboration, "I Got A Secret," he invents a dazed, earthy style of drum 'n' bass rhyming. As the title suggests, there's some conceptual/identity overload going on here, but Redman's spilling over with sly turns of phrase and goofy allusions (as well as gratuitous chickenhead/baby-mama baiting), and his Def Squad teammate Erick Sermon lightens up on his trademark swampy boom, giving himself more room to cram his word hoard into. Every imaginable space is full of blunted puns, fleeting samples, and yelps of "Yo!" --Douglas Wolk
Customer Reviews:
Switch From Aaron To Roy, And Give You "Primal Fear".......2007-02-01
In 1998, rap music experienced a high level of commercial acceptance and exploitation, the magnitude of which had scarcely been seen before. Most major record labels embraced artists whose images and portrayals revolved around financial decadence, violence, and substance abuse. These are issues that have always been somewhere in the mix of hip-hop culture, but in the late '90s such subjects took total precedence over previously, at least equally, appreciated subjects such as lyrical agility, humor, positivity, and self-awareness. Redman represents a few of these attributes -- humor and lyrical agility in particular -- on Doc's da Name 2000. The sound Redman achieves on this album is characteristic of his previous albums. With production credits going mostly to Erick Sermon, the bass-intensive and melodic beats on Doc's da Name 2000 allow Redman to deliver the raw Newark, NJ, flow for which he's known and liked. Redman produced a few of the songs on this album, including "Jersey Yo!." A mildly funny skit that describes the attitude of a certain "Little Bricks" resident precedes this selection. There are actually five skits on the album, which, like most skits on an often-played album, become very unfunny after a few repetitions. On "Jersey Yo!" Redman uses a slow and funky guitar sound over tight drums and a fluid bassline. Redman is also responsible for the production of "Da Goodness," a song that features Busta Rhymes. The instrumentation in this song has a futuristic, almost minimal, sound that mimics the music Busta Rhymes frequently flows over. Not stopping there, Redman spits lyrics in "Da Goodness" with what could be identified as Busta's lyrical style -- and he does it well. The result is an entertaining song that exemplifies Redman's skill as a talented lyricist and producer. "Beet Drop," another cut produced by Redman, is a brief but funny cover of the Beastie Boys' "It's the New Style." Other MCs that join Redman here include Method Man on "Well All Rite Cha"; Double O, Tame, Diezzel Don, Gov-Mattic, and Young Z (of the Outsiders) on "Close Ya Doorz"; Markie and Shooga Bear on "My Zone!"; and Erick Sermon and Keith Murray on "Down South Funk." Fans should note that the latest episode of "Sooperman Lova (IV)" is witness to "sooperman lova switching to sooperman villain." The last selection on this album is a gem -- a rhyme delivered over a jungle (aka drum'n'bass) rhythm track that was produced by the well-known Roni Size. A close look at the liner notes reveals an additional unique item on Doc's da Name 2000: Redman had A&R, marketing, and project coordination responsibilities on this album -- a scenario not often seen in the music industry.
Still Tight Enough To Bobyahed2dis {4.5 Stars}.......2007-01-03
I'm a HUGE Redman fan. There's something intangible about Redman that endears him to hip hop lovers on so many levels. After dropping classics like Muddy Waters, Whut Thee Album, and Dare Iz A Darkside, my guess would be that fans were expecting more of that grimy production that was so prevelant on his previous releases. I think the complaints are because this was the first Redman album that garnered less than 5 stars, but a lot of those complaints are totally baseless -- Redman don't make bad albums (Malpractice was less than stellar, but still good). Even though things where slightly different on this joint, the production from Erick Sermon, Rockwilder, and Red himself is still on point (and really not all that different -- just tweaked a lil' bit). You can still expect all the routine Redman staples -- the typical Def Squad collabo with E Double and Mr. Murray, a Soopaman Lova sequel (this time with the underrated Dave Hollister on the hook), Method Man collabo, etc...
The first problem to jump out at me was the abundance of overdone skits. While it was hilarious on the Dare Is A Darkside LP and mildly funny on the Muddy Waters LP, this time out Red runs a lot of the very same jokes into the ground and they come off kind of stale. Outside of that, there are only one or two joints on the album that are kind of "eh" (D.O.G.S. & My Zone) in my opinion, but nothing on the album is wack.
Doc's Da Name is one of the best rap LPs to come out in '98. The sound may be a little different from his previous releases, but Doc can get down over any beat and still come off. I recommend adding this album to your collection.
Standout Tracks: Beet Drop, Da Goodness feat. Busta Rhymes, Jersey Yo!, Boodah Break, I'll Bee Dat!, Well All Rite Cha feat. Method Man, Get It Live, Keep On '99, Cloze Ya Doorz feat. Double O, Tame, Diezzel Don, Roz, Gov-Mattic, & Young Z (My Favorite), I Got A Secret, and Dah Dah DaHHH
A Good solid album, probably better than Muddy Waters.......2006-04-29
A lot of people underrate this album for some reason (me used to being one of them) and now I listened to it. I feel stupid for thinking that this album would be average since Red is amazing lyrically.
Favorite tracks:
"Da Dah Dahhhh"
"Get It Live"
"D.O.G.S"
"Brick City Mashin'"
A poor effort by a good MC.......2005-03-04
For my money, this album is just not up to par with redman's earlier work. I suggest Dare Iz a Darkside or Muddy Waters. Both have much better beats, hooks, etc. Or check out 'Whut? Thee Album' if you're looking for the old school P-funk sound.
BRILLIANT.......2004-06-22
ONCE AGAIN REDMAN AKA REGGIE NOBLE BRINGS IT ON THIS ALBUM FILLED WITH CREATIVE LYRICS AND GREAT BEATS. REDMAN SHOULD GET MORE RESPECT ESPECIALLY WHEN HE COMES OUT WITH AN ALBUM AS GREAT AS THIS ONE. ITS MY FAVORITE OF HIS AND I LISTEN TO IT TIL THIS DAY SO BUY IT AND GIVE HIM SOME RESPECT NOT DUMB ARTISTS WITH NO TALENT LIKE LIL JON.

After appearing on two of rap's more accomplished and entertaining releases, Brand Nubian's 1990 debut One for All and his own 1992 solo effort, Reel to Reel, Grand Puba seemed to fall off the face of hip-hop. Three years later he resurfaced, freestyling first in a Sprite commercial and then with this long-overdue second solo work, 2000. Puba carried those first two records on the inventiveness of his rhyme style--a little Slick Rick swagger, some Biz Markie pop culture referencing and tone deaf singing, and a lot of Puba's own distinctive whine and boast. On 2000, Puba recaptures all of that and sounds like he's never been away. As before, he packs scores of name drops and song snatches, from Erkel to "Little Drummer Boy," in between his own self-aggrandizing hyperbole and earns more than a few chuckles for the effort. Also tried-and-true Puba, the tracks on 2000 favor a heavy bounce and melodic soul groove over the more raw and rhythmic funk backings of most rappers--which means there's more music and fatter hooks than usual. Plus a bonus: Virtually none of the pseudo-Islamic race theories that have occasionally popped up in Puba's lyrics. --Roni Sarig

(3+half) 2000.....(ahead of its time) STILL hot in the 2007!!!.......2007-03-02
Grand Puba has got to be one of the most criminally slept-on mc's of hiphop history. After lighting up the Brand Nubian debut "One for All" along with Sadat X and Lord Jamar with social commentaries aplenty many people thought he would come out that way when he went solo. On his debut "Reel to Reel" he opted for a more party orientated and skills showcase approach. Same here. Funky beats on virtually every song provide Puba the perfect base for him to lay down his rapid fire metaphor laced flows all over the place. His wordplay is 2nd to none and made him really stand out back in the mid 90's. Mark the Spark(4), Alamo(2), Chris Liggio(1), Minnesota(3) and Dante Ross from the SD50's(1) produce an amazing album where, even now some 12years on, still stands the test of time. Only 1 or 2 beats sound a little dated. Standouts such as "Very Special", "I Like It", "A Little Of This", "Keep On", "2000", "Amazing" and "Play It Cool" make this a brilliant addition to any hiphop fans collection.
2000 is hot for any year!.......2004-10-15
Grand Puba's second album 2000 is off the books! It is short, but every track is banging and stands alone, like Nas' Illmatic. You may have heard his single "I Like It", which received heavy airplay from Hot 97 back in 95. He definitely takes his game to the next level from "Reel to Reel" his first album. The only guest appearance is from Sadat X, but Grand Puba is talented enough to hold down a whole album dolo. The beat selection is great and varies from party cuts, piano loops and smooth/laid back, and Puba has a flow for each of them. Production by Mark Sparks, Minnesota, DJ Alamo and others. Definitely pick this up, you won't regret it!
The man with figgatifiggaty phat skills.......1999-11-21
I have to hand it to him. He has to be one of the illest rappers in the game today to me. It's so hard not to dig his vibe, that you almost cant listen to him once and not by his cd. It is the bomb.
dis sit is nice!.......1999-02-24
'i like it' and 'a little of this' are both butter. very smooth beats and really soothing when you are just chillin in your crib. this cd is a classic.

I go this CD from a store and I love it. I like every sond on this disc. I would recommend it to anyone. Just be listen to '2000' and you will love Puba!

You might not know the name, but you already know the voice: for years, Rahzel has been the secret weapon in one of hip-hop's best-equipped arsenals, the multitalented band The Roots. As their human beatbox, Rahzel gives the band an unmatched level of flexibility, and on his solo debut, that's exactly what he demonstrates. Alternating between studio tracks and live cuts, Rahzel shows his vocal dexterity as a frontman (the kickin' "All I Know," produced by Pete Rock), a backer ("Southern Girl," "Night Riders"), and all by his lonesome. Though some of the guests make worthwhile contributions, most serve simply to distract the listener from the main attraction, who's at his best when performing solo in front of a crowd--check out the jaw-dropping cover of "Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuthing Ta F With" and the one-man Mortal Kombat duel. Ultimately, the self-proclaimed Godfather of Noyze leaves you wanting for only one thing: more. --Randy Silver

An awesomely fun beat-box album by the godfather of noize Rahzel! Rap fans will love this!.......2006-01-05
Rahzel was the former beatboxer of the rap-rock group The Roots. Rahzel's putting out a solo beatbox album would be a dream to many, but unfortunately he doesn't beatbox for most of the album. The ones where he does, though, are usually pretty cool (and the track "All I Know" is a lesser rap classic - you'll love it). Fortunately there aren't any bad songs here. They're mostly very good songs with one lesser classic ("All I Know") - you can tell this man has "mad skillz". Lyrically the songs are basically about nothing (just rhyming words with other words), although they all remain extremely fun, catchy and memorable (and it's fun to sing along! A lot of the songs are pretty funny, too). The production is pretty good - it's more interesting to hear the tracks where Rahzel is doing most everything by himself, though. Rap, Rahzel and Roots fans alike will no doubt enjoy this album a great deal. "All I Know" definitely gives it mainstream appeal, too (although some of the tracks are a little cheesy). There's also cool cameo appearances by master Slick Rick on "Night Riders" and A Tribe Called Quest on "To The Beat". Rap fans will definitely dig this album. Absolutely recommended!

Do you understand what I am saying?.......2005-12-09
Yep, he is a talented guy and the hidden track is probably the best thing on here. There are some really good tracks at the beginning and 'Southern Girl' works well, but the rest is all filler ... and some pretty lame and predictable filler too. Cheez whizz. Do you get me?
Sick CD.......2004-10-14
Yo i am a huge hip hop/R'n'B fan and i am a hard rater as i dis so many rappers and singers but Rahzel man he rocks there is nothing he says that is stupid. And all his beats rock. When i first herd the track "if your mother only new" where rahzel does a sick beat and sings at the same time i almost fell of my chair. Even though this is a older CD it still rules if you dont have it get it. Peace Mikes
rahzel is superhuman.......2004-02-10
First things first, you cant front on the fact that this man is mad nice with his. He's on a whole other plataeu than most hiphop heads. His gift is nothing short of incredible, superhuman even. You are honestly constantly questioning whether the stuff he does is "actually possible", making beats sound better then any dat machine while similtaneosly providing basslines. But i do have only 1 complaint. Its not really a full album, and if like me you had to pay an import price for it you will feel slightly cheated and not just a little pissed. There's 9 full tracks with Rahzel only rapping on 7 of them, the other 2 he provides the beats(which the 2 guests stars dont really utilise properly in my opinion). All in all its a really tight cd and if you can pick it up on the cheap you'll enjoy it a whole lot more.

Last time, he was mad at LL Cool J. This time Canibus is just mad, and his animalistic lyrics prove it throughout the 14 tracks that make up 2000 B.C.. "In bare knuckle boxing speed is the object / weaving and dodging with defensive blocking," he says of his lyrical strategy on the title cut. And he sticks to that plan as he rips through tracks laced with strings, classical choirs, pianos, and merciless drums. Canibus loops an answering-machine message for the hook on "Mic-nificent" and trades verses with the legendary Rakim on "I'll Buss 'Em U Punish 'Em." Hip-hop hasn't heard it this raw in a long time. But for those who like it smooth and poppy, 2000 B.C. is way before your time. --Kenji Jasper

Classic.......2006-06-06
This album is probabaly the most lyrical thing i have ever heard! It is solid from start to finish and is a pure battle CD. His lyrics are fiery and aggressive all the way through, i love putting this album on when in a lively or angry mood, it gets me buzzin. Some of the beats may take you a few listens to get use to but once you give it a few spins im certain you will love it and will have it playing on a regular basis
'bis is definitly 1 of the most underrated artists in Hip-Hop
classic.......2006-01-15
Can's most complete cd.
But at the time people were ignoring it.
It is a classic from start to finish. Some tracks have beats that take a second to get used to though.
Hip Hop Classic........2005-09-02
This is a Hip Hop classic. Punchlines and metaphors from start to finish. Buy it now.
100 bars.......2005-07-30
This album screams BATTLE ME! Every track is about rippin punk MC's down. The less than perfect production is made up by hostile battle lyrics aimed at anyone who wants em'. I agree with a lot of people when I say that this is his BEST, the BATTLE MC is what we came to hear and that's what we get!
His best album!!!.......2005-05-04
Too bad the producers screwed him and his career...but no matter what he's put his dent in hip hop! This is his best album...not made for those commercial heads! Appropriate title for the album also; his rhymin' skills take back to before the soft commercial music infested the game. 2000 B.C., 100 Bars, and Horsementality are the best tracks on the album, with I'll Buss Em U Punish Em not too far behind (he has a LEGEND on the track). Get this...it is a CLASSIC!

Great Bang for the Buck!.......2001-10-05
I love this CD and it has a wide variety of good R&B songs. I bought this trying to get a CD with some good R&B because too many artists are one hit wonders or don't produce many good songs. This album delivers and I listen to it all the time. The songs are shown above. If you want another good R&B/Rap album I recommend the 2001 Grammy R&B/Rap Nominees CD. Great R&B/Rap and good bang for the buck.
